I really love the people who donated to the Target worker and to the barista. Taking unkind pictures of people just doing their jobs and trying to shame them for upholding company rules was the peak entitlement and cruelty and it’s beautiful to see how people turned that around to be positive.

I don't understand the logic behind that kickstarter at all though. Okay so you were being mocked online by a salty shitty customer, but why raise money to send her on vacation? That barista guy in the later entry wasn't sent on vacation he just got tips (which I found stupid as well) that did in turn fund his dancing career. I mean why does money always have to get involved? Isn't it enough that the unkindnesses backfired on the customers? It's like people immediately think money is the answer to everything.

I use to work for Dollar General, and we did a similar thing when old unsold items had been sitting too long, or where discontinued, and the system would "penny out" the items, either to be thrown away if it's a chemical/food/low value item, or to be sent back to the distribution warehouse for RMA on items that have an actual $ value of about $50 USD, or above. We could give away penny out items to charity that where non food/chemical ready to be thrown out, but it was a lot of paperwork, and most of my store mangers did not want to bother, but some of the better ones would say I did not see a thing it went out the back door in the trash already, and you don't say anything either. I didn't know about the Target story, but a similar thing happened to me at Walmart. One of the display Arcade1Up units was labeled for $0.03. I thought it was too good to be true, so I asked the electronics department manager if the price was correct. He told me that their system required a price for every item, including display items, so they just put them in as a few cents but they're not actually for sale. The people who do the store layouts will put out price tags before the stockers put out items, and they let stockers know where everything goes by putting a price tag at the right spot, including for display units. The $0.03 price tag was supposed to be removed after the display unit was put out, but they must have missed it. I bet that's exactly what happened at that Target. And you know what I did instead of throwing a fit because the manager wouldn't sell me an arcade machine for $0.03? I said "Oh, that makes sense," and left, like a normal human being. And I haven't been to an arcade in over three years!

@@mujiescomedy279 The display units usually do work, but they're pretty banged up from people playing them at the store. But the point is, it wasn't actually 3 cents, it wasn't even for sale. My parents and out neighbors got engaged in a "Flamingo War" back in the 80's. It started out when our neighbors were having an above ground pool put in. They had the yard dug out, and then it rained. A lot. And the workers couldn't do anything till things dried out. There was just this huge, round, mud hole, in his yard that looked horrible. We were having a 4th of July party with them and other neighbors. The guy got tired of looking at his back yard that was just an embarassing mud hole that everyone could see at the party. So he went in his garage, grabbed a flamingo and stuck it in the middle of the mud hole as a way to... kind of... at least add humor to the situation. My mother a week later got ahold of a LOT of those flamingos and filed the mud hole with them. Then one day, there were a hundred more flamingos in addition to those, all over OUR yard. Then MORE flamingos filled his yard. This went back and forth for a long time. It culminated on Christmas one year, when my grandmother called us, all crying, "You never come and visit any more.". We went to visit her, and when we came back, there was a toilet on our front lawn with flamingos sitting in it and all over it. It was decorated with Christmas greens, a wreath, and tinsel. And written on it was, "Yours to urine a Merry Christmas". The thing that REALLY made the display was the big spotlight that was in front of it that lit the thing up at night so that all the world could see. Oh... and it turned out that my grandmother was in on it. Our neighbor had called her and gotten her to do whatever it would take to get us out of the house so he could set the thing up. That "decoration" sat on our front lawn for the whole Christmas season. People would drive down our street, looking at the houses with Christmas lights, but then, when they got to our house, they would slow way down as they stared at the beautiful, lit up, Christmas Flamingo Toilet. Out front yard actually ended up in our local paper. I still have the article and pictures of it somewhere.

Pardon my uncultured Canadian self for actually making a distinction between such things :D
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we in the further west have the space to have actual yards AND a garden, not a choice of one or the other. Only if you live in an apartment would you not have the space but in videos I've been watching recently based in England (lots of documentaries, lol), it seems that unless you live in the suburbs or the countryside, having what we North Americans call a yard is rare. Here in the U.S., almost any house, anywhere, will have a yard. You don't need to be in a suburban, rich area or out in the country. And you can then fence off a small part of that yard for a garden. In all those documentaries, never had I heard of a garden referred to as a yard. I've actually only ever heard of a garden called just that. Unless...the term is meant to be a joke :)

@@Ziggletooth That's very apples and oranges considering one is complaining about "generic term for baby animal" and "actual work and care go into this term and mean entirely different things". In this case your plant comparison is better based on if tomato is a fruit or a vegetable. The answer is... In what way do you want it to mean. Grass has multiple forms. Grass CAN be a plant because some require more specialized care and keeping. But then there are the things people use as lawns that don't require such specialized care... But then what about the lawns that are a little more special that you can order that are generally not-so-stressful but need just a little more work? You opened up a paradox you don't want to be in. With relation to the "bad neighbour" not confronting the family directly, it's not always that simple. In Japan, if they're are any problems, such as noisy neighbours, or guests parking in the wrong spot in the connected carpark, etc, then Japanese people will usually ring the police directly, who will then visit the neighbour/parked vehicle and then either ask them to cease and/or take legal action. In other, similar cases, neighbours will contact the housing company/landlord or local council, etc. This is to remain anonymous (reducing "friction" between both parties) and to be "effective" in making sure the "offending" parties do as requested. In fact, speaking directly to (Japanese) neighbours about problems, however politely, can sometimes make them "lose face" and become aggressive themselves. I've had to explain to some Japanese, though, that the "cloak and dagger (in the back)" approach, especially when dealing with non-Japanese, can be seen as cowardly/duplicitous or akin to "telling tales" or "cracking open an egg with a mallet" and can be offensive to non-Japanese.

The way that guy handled the toothbrush price was asinine, taking it out on the manager, but the display itself was deceptive. Yes, it's says "Display" on the sticker, but how often are the displays themselves even sold to customers? The human mind is trained to just look at the price directly adjacent to the item, and not automatically read any text. Why is there a sign for the price of the display and not the toothbrush itself? This case in particular may not have been intentional trickery, but Target is known for deceptive marketing market practices, such as prices shown in their shopping app being lower outside the store but changing to reflect the actually higher prices once you enter the store.

Ex-retail worker here. The reason those tags have display on them is because they're placeholders. They are meant to be replaced with signage(usually provided by whatever company's product is on display) so someone either forgot to remove the tag or the store was waiting on the proper signage to come in. I can almost guarantee that the REAL price tag was where the toothbrush actually was. Tags print off on 8.5x11 sheets with like 20 tags per sheet. I find it hard to believe that the proper tag didn't print off with the display tags.

@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I admittedly dislike Trump but even I had to sigh and shake my head at that. That's not revenge at all, that's being an asshole and that's not okay. And if she truly didn't return the money, that's even worse though legal action to find her wouldn't be that hard when your image is known.
@FudgemintGuardian4 жыл бұрын
I kept waiting for the revenge part, rightfully thinking this spoiled asshole got her comeuppance some how, but it never came.... -_- That was not revenge. She's a horrible, rotten piece of garbage that took advantage of the kindness of others, and she's incapable of seeing that kindness as genuine. Deluding herself into thinking the only possible reason must be because they're racists desperately trying to prove they're not.

So many people in this video’s comments section are completely okay with somehow turning “Community comes together to help a stranger; then their trust and desire to help others is abused” into “LOL STUPID REPUBLICANS, THIS JUST PROVES THEY ARE RACIST AND THEY DESERVE TO HAVE TO THEIR MONEY TAKEN BECAUSE THEY AREN’T PEOPLE!”. The lack of self awareness to the dehumanization and intolerance(shown by those comments but also the perpetrator’s “hot take”) that the left currently promotes, and celebrates is downright depressing and a little bit disgusting.

Hey slopes, great video but why isn’t this titled differently? obviously not all kickstarter campaigns
@Schnittertm14 жыл бұрын
Because, just like "google it" did for looking something up on a search engine, the word "Kickstarter" or "kickstart it" has become a stand in word for crowd funding. Another reason might be, that he wants to keep with the series title.
