Thanks. I like to recognize what works for me, might not work for you. Everyone needs to find their style and adjusting each technique is part of that.

I’m fairly new to the channel and have been going through your older videos. I LOVE this one! I’ve always been a little disappointed in my left hook. After taking your advice to heart and really working it for the last three or four weeks, my left hook now hits like I have a brick in my glove. I wasn’t twisting my shoulders enough. Once I got the feel for it, I now hit smooth and hard. A side benefit is it is much easier on the shoulder muscles and tendons. In hindsight, I was making it too much of a shoulder punch and, in addition to not hitting very hard, it was really hard on my rotator cuff. I’d sometimes get a sore shoulder if I threw too many hooks. Not anymore! Thanks for putting out these videos. I’ve done some of your at home workouts too which are a lot of fun.

Nice. My best punch is also the lead left hook. Right hook feels off to me, like I'm putting myself in the line of fire so I don't really like using it but when i commit to it I can match and even surpass the left hook's power

Try throwing the right off while in unorthadox, works almost as well for me and also a good trap if you step back into unorthadox, switch-hitting is fun

The foot pivot isn't great if you have someone who is fantastic at counter low kicks but other than that is a great element to incorporate.

Hello hojam, we put 4 comb bones and 2 comb bones in our hooks or we can hit the chin more effectively.

I kind of wish there was some lab work done with a punching machine to see if whether palm up or palm down is stronger and by how much. Thanks for this tutorial! Also you have great knuckle structure, did you condition your knuckles in the past?
@JoshAllenberg2 жыл бұрын
Best way to throw the hook is just the natural direction your fist faces when you bring your elbow and shoulder up (palm down). The less ergonomic you try to make it, the more risk of injury. Its also just not comfortable.

It doesn’t matter. Whatever hook feels best to you.

its weird for me. my palms in hooks are safer and I feel I can punch harder but my palms down hook feels like its doing more damage despite me not being able to push as hard into it without hurting myself
