Thanks for this. I had no idea what it was that chops down that Eldar 'walker' in the trailer for DoW III. I thought it was Chaos, then ork...then Chaos again...then with some pausing, I noticed it had the emblem of the Imperium upon it's brow. I was amazed. I'm a fan of WH40K...but...I still have much to learn. heheh My knowledge comes from some reading, & started with DoW's release years ago.

Can anyone tell me why humans in the 40k universe seem to have so many cybernetic implants like in there eyes and such ?

they're optical implants and it could also be a cultural thing as well that they've even forgotten the why of as a lot of it is rooted in the Age of Technology.

Rkids Kid Eye implants are common because they provide increased perception, tactical analysis etc. Bionic limbs are stronger then normal limbs. And head implants I'm not so sure.

If you're a Space Marine (for example) you're going to be in hundreds of battles and fight for hundreds of years in the most brutal warzones and enemies the 41st millennium has to offer you're inevitably going to get a hand blown off, a leg cut off or an eye plucked out. Bionics offer a replacement for lost limbs which are much more common in the 41st millennium. If you read some of the novels, it's seen several times that human and astartes alike are apathetic to the loss of a limb as they know they can simply get it replaced. Tech priests and tech marines have the philosophy that the flesh is weak and that only through bionics can one become stronger. Cybernetics in the 40k universe are cheap and widely available and considering how harsh some work environments are for citizens within the Imperium, loosing a limb is frightfully commonplace.

I have a question on the knights, so they were built from an sct not by the mechanicum correct? Ergo, they don't have the "machine spirit " they don't have to pray to it and burn insence around it? And are the knights interred or when they are not using the suit can they get out to say eat got to the bathroom and enjoy the ladies? And last, astarties, how do they go to the bathroom? Do they have some sort of butt hatch? That would be a comedic video, astarties takes a god emperor size dump.

The purpose of the knight suit isn't purely militaristic just like the knight of medieval ages they're often more of political tools. People given military authority to keep others in line. Just like how you can have horsemen who aren't knights. It'd be cheaper and more effective to have many horsemen. But knights are given authority over a region to ensure taxes and loyalty etc...
