Congratulations on your one year. I started last season and ended up with only 43 customers. Took everything I could get. Now this year I went all commercial and have 10 with a full time employee. I was lucky in the commercial property. A few were from the company's I worked for as a maintenance tech and new the manager while the others I have are through a property management company. You guys are doing great. Keep up the hard work and stick it out. It will pay off

Congratulations on your first year!! Customers see honest hard working people and will tell others when they are treated right. The quality and the customer always comes first, the money end lives in my office. For me the golden rule and all the commitments and sacrifices have allowed me to move into my 30th year of self employment. I am a service business, I serve my community, it has always been an honor to be placed in a position of trust on someone else’s property. I did everything I had the ability to do for a homeowner, lightbulbs , windows, carpentry, painting, masonry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, tree work, and so on many of my elderly customers required a younger person to do who they could no longer do…that was me. Several years ago as my old knees and all the other parts got old, I retired to the greener pastures of lawn mowing only. It has always been about helping others even though a hundred other businesses could mow the lawns I mow, few are willing to offer the pricing that I will operate at, I have always been the honest/reasonable/ local solution in my community and today I am rich…you know in what way. God doesn’t care how much money we make, it’s how we make it. When you work for yourself, you are the standard. Good luck this year. Sincerely George.

My wife and I just finished the video. I live in the Upstate section of SC. I have been wanting to watch it with her for a few months. We are trying to get “all of our ducks in a row” and start as far, fast and furious as we can early 2023. Been praying and planning and thinking and dreaming for about two years now. Jason, thanks for so much great content!! I also purchased your lawn care course, not through with it but great stuff. I would certainly recommend it to others. Grace and Peace, Brian

As a team, you guys are right where I hope to be in the next 4 years. Started my business in 2020 while working a full-time job. In my 3rd season now and still working the full-time job but rather than only managing 18 clients my first season, I am ending this season with 48 regular clients. I've informed 8 that I will not service their properties in 2023 due to the distance and demand being so high closer to me. In time, spreading out is the plan but until I leave my full-time job, I will focus on local. I also trimmed the number of clients to focus on quality and communication with a manageable client base. Good, consistent work and solid communication is what keeps most people coming back.

I wish I stayed full time at my job just a little bit longer but I haven't looked back since. Only thing to warn you about that most ppl don't mention......if you go full time self employed, it will absolutely mess you up if your trying to get a home loan. Lesson learned the hard way for me

One thing I never see discussed on the Lawn Care channels is Healthcare. It seems every aspect of the business is covered except Healthcare. What do small start up companies like this company do for Healthcare? This is one of my favorite videos, a great story and very inspirational.

So i just got my business all registered and all the insurance and focusing on the website.... Best advice i would have to say is work a gig economy job. In my area is doordash and uber is very hot. That gives me a lot of flexibility when starting up! I also have money in the bank and able to buy machines at a huge discount. If you do buy new look for deals ! My zero turn that cost 3800 at most retail stores i found someone that bought a lot of them at action and i was able to get a new zero turn 42 inch for less than most used machines with a factory warranty! Trimmers just spend the money on new. Its harder to find a clean used trimmer and the fact most dont cost over 500 new just save yourself the hassle and trouble and i cant stress this enough ...... KEEP TRACK OF HOURS ON EQUIPMENT! change the oil every week if you have a full schedule. Use good quality oil and make sure you properly store and run the mowers.

Wow. That was the best line I heard when talking about self employment risk …”I had one employer now I have 65. If I loose one I have 64 left and can get more…”. These corporations are cut throat and would can someone to save a nickel if profits needed adjustment
