Thanks for all the amazing videos and comprehensive tests. I have a couple of suggestions - (most) people don't buy e-scooters for speed. If they wanted speed they'd buy a motorcycle! People buy e-scooters for the mobility. So they can easily throw it in the back of car to take to the trail. Or carry it into the bus for daily commute. In addition to speed, you may want to focus on weight of scooter. Is it easy to fold and put in the back of car? Maybe add a "trunk stow" test. Also, please do talk about customer support. Is it easy to get repaired? Does the company have physical service centers? Is it easy to contact customer support? Does customer support even exist? I think talking about these will force the companies to improve their products and after sales support. Once again, thanks for the in-depth reviews and keep up the good work.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide19 күн бұрын
Great input! We were featuring a trunk test in our reviews for a while, but it didn’t get that much retention. Lately I’ve just had a small section where I talk about portability, including what it’s like to fold and its weight relative to other scooters. We really need to do a best-lightweight, best-portable, or best-last mile scooter video again. We had plans for lots of “Best” content this year, but got overrun with scooters to review and never updated some of our favorite videos. I’ve also started talking about the ESG reliability score, which takes into account several factors including parts availability and whether they have a US service center. I’m especially concerned with the ability to buy parts, because when all else fails, that’s the last line of defense between keeping something on the road or recycling an otherwise good scooter. Every time I speak with a new company I bring up the issue of spares availability, and remind them how important it is. I wish I had a way to objectively measure customer service and warranty response. I’ve called up companies who have bad reputations, but found that unreliable, because in one case, the company I had heard the most bad things about picked up the phone right away, but it probably isn’t a good measure of the final outcome. Thanks again so much for your feedback. We hear you! And thanks for your support! -Paul

Very impressive. Thanks for your uploads on reviewing many scooters out there. I'm about to do a video on the Foholo F15 Escooter I purchased. Hopefully my camera editing clears up. It has 5000 watts of dual motor/ 2500 each. It provided me a range of 34 miles by riding 15mph. I still had 3 out of 5 bars left. Even traveling 25+ mph on mostly very high inclines, I managed to get 35-40 miles of range. It advertises 55 miles range. Still testing lol.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Definitely make sure to run it all the way to empty if you're doing a range test. It's impossible to say how many miles are left.... unless it's zero. :-) Every range test I do ends with pushing. Pro tip: 1) pick a good loop to ride. 2) make sure there's a high part and a low part 3) park at the low part 4) use a device other than the scooter to measure range (sometimes the scooter turns off and won't turn back on at the end, and always the odometer is wrong by at least 5 to 10% sometimes much more! Have fun testing! -Paul

One thing I almost never see mentioned in these reviews is how the throttle feels on any of the scooters. A lot of time is spent on braking, which is going to be very consistent between scooters with the same type of brakes anyway. Meanwhile throttle feel varies massively between scooters and almost isn't mentioned at all. For example, most Dualtron scooters have what feels like an on/off switch for a throttle, while Apollo scooters (2 random examples) have a very smooth and linear feel. It's a pretty important aspect of the ride which seems to get ignored. For me personally, a good throttle is extremely important because I'm often riding with friends and it's nice to be able to maintain a constant and sometimes slow speed. Meanwhile I couldn't care less that one scooter gets to 30mph 0.4 seconds faster than another one, and being a part of a large scooter group in my city, I don't know who does.

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide29 күн бұрын
Almost all electric scooters have the front brake on the right. Motorcycles and dirt bikes do the same. I’m not sure why electric scooters chose to more or less standardize to be like motorcycles rather than bicycles. To me it is an advantage to right handed people, as the front brake, by far, has the bulk of the stopping power on a 2 wheeled vehicle. Honestly I think it would be easier for most riders if they did front brake on the left, since more people ride bikes than motorcycles. But after thirty years riding and racing motorcycles, I’m grateful they usually put the front brake on the right :-) -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
Yes, and better range if you can ride it at the same power level you would be using running single motor. Unagi did a bunch of research on this through their multi-thousand-unit rental fleet and got the actual numbers. The numbers show up in their app as predicted range. The longest range on an unagi is gear 2 dual motor. -Paul

Almost all scooters with apps function without the app. Sometimes you lose one or two functions (Dualtron). Is there a scooter in this price range that has waterproofing?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
Not really. It feels strange to say that. The most water resistant scooters will be rated IP66 like most of Apollos new scooters. But ultimately none of them are as waterproof as my motorcycle where I know I can ride through the worst storms day after day after day and nothing will go wrong. It’s still a risk at this point daily riding electric scooters in the rain as water damage isn’t covered under warranty by any of the brands available in the us. Would I still try commuting in the rain? I might. But I’d be on the lookout for water intrusion and how to prevent it on any scooter. We used to be more bullish on riding in the rain. If you only ride in light rain and stay out of puddles most scooters will do ok, but there’s just no guarantee. Yet. -Paul

If all three of those tires are 10" why are they taller as they go across? It looks like an 8-in tire, a 9-in tire and a 10-in tire with wider widths. I don't like that they put the brakes on the sides that they would with a bike. You got to put the rear on the left side with an e-scooter when you got the throttle on your right hand. I was a little confused when I first got my 1st e-scooter because I was so used to riding a bike and having the left hand be the front brake and the right hand be the rear brake, but with an e-scooter it's got to be the opposite. It feels so much better with the left hand being the rear brake and the right hand being the front brake when your throttles on your right hand.

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide im sure you get this often, but Is there a place where you sell off your used promo scooters? I work in the city, been researching and deciding which scooter to get for months at this point. I want to make a decision while these black Friday sales are going on. I've seen some decent used deals, but somewhat worried about getting a scooter second hand.

Paul it's no where in the manual but there's a way to tighten up the steering. Maybe you can include that. They aren't getting back to me as often since buying it

Do your bearings have play in them? They ship a tool with the scooter that looks like a shock-tool, but it's for adjusting the steering bearings. Loosen the top ring, then turn the bottom one about 1/6th to 1/3 of a turn or until it feels like the play has gone away, then tighten the top ring again. Tightening the top ring will add slightly more pressure to the bearings too. In a pinch, you can use a hammer and an aluminum punch to adjust the ring nuts, but it will probably leave a mark if they're also made out of aluminum. My bearings were perfectly adjusted. I've paused my testing and shifted to testing another scooter while I wait to see if app connectivity will be cured. I don't want to test it and miss some important app settings, and right now I'm not able to fully control the app. -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide ya I had the same problem with the app and bluetooth. They sent me a new display that has been updated so the mph at least is supposed to be accurate. Stem has zero play on it but thanks for the tip!

If this was a 46-50mph scooter it would have been a hit

makes me upset all varla had to do was make this a 45-50 mph scooter and it would have been the perfect in town scooter smfh has everything besides speed I don't understand varla

Do you spend much time over 40 mph, or are you looking for acceleration and you find that scooters which can go 46 to 50mph have the kind of acceleration you like?That I can relate to! Whenever I get over 40mph on a scooter, I usually start hearing that little voice in my head saying "dude, are you sure you want to be doing this right now?" -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide yes I do I live in a big area big roads and driver are usually going 40-45 mph I have the v2 and I have the eagle one pro all I'm saying is varla could have done better with the v3 but yeah I utilize a lot of my speed I mean the v3 is cool but they could have done better

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide lol I can relate to that but I always watch my surroundings before I speed

Thanks for the feedback. If you haven't invested in some serious riding gear, I'd definitely recommend it. I don't always show it on camera, but whenever I do high speed testing I'm wearing an Aerostich (a $1,300 motorcycle commuting suit). I've road-tested one at 65mph and it worked flawlessly. I still made it to work on time tha day! -Paul

Cable management is pretty awful.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuideАй бұрын
Do you mean the front brake cable? The funny thing about that. I didn't notice it while riding it, but when I did the suspension shot, I was watching the playback, paused it and was like: "what's that cable". That angle makes it really stick out. -Paul
@thecamlaytonАй бұрын
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I wrote that about the handlebar situation... Afterwards I saw the battery compartment. Yikes. It seems there is a trend of companies improving cable management, some not so much. I've seen many cheaper scoots on your channel nail this. Maybe I'm being too picky, bit it is an eye sore, IMO.

I just hope the custom wooden deck would have been a hard aluminum steel. Wood gets brittle amd break overtime
