Metformin was giving me horrible stomach pain and diarrhea. I stopped it and it all cleared up. Started Berberine with MCT and felt dizzy and heavy. I have other things going on medically so I will start the Bergeron again on a few weeks. Doc, your info on Metformin actually alerted me to my stomach issues. THANKS!!! ❤

What’s the dose to take of Vit B12 if taking 500mg of Metformin?
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
For people taking 500 mg of Metformin, the typical recommended Vitamin B12 dose is between 500 mcg and 1000 mcg daily. However, the exact dosage may vary based on individual needs and deficiency levels, so it's best to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the most suitable amount for you.

But I still get dizzy/sleepy. And I have gas terribly!! I take 2 Beano in the AM, at noon and again in late afternoon. Helps a little bit. What can I take rather than this awful pill???

Good day. I am a longtime diabetic and I do follow the protocols around monitoring and keeping my glucose in-check. Everything I have read and watched to date gravitates around managing your glucose level. My question: Is there not a genetic factor to diabetes? If so, an individual cannot truly become free of diabetes. Correct? ~BrianW
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
Hi @brianwestbrook2113. Absolutely, there are genetic components at play with diabetes, but lifestyle and overall health can still significantly influence blood sugar control. "Free of diabetes" may not be possible, but improving glucose levels and reducing complications is achievable with the right plan!

Exercise after meal is the same as metformin or better
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
Great question! Exercise after meals can help regulate blood sugar, and while it’s very beneficial, it works differently than Metformin. Metformin helps to lower blood sugar by affecting how your body processes sugar, while exercise improves insulin sensitivity and helps your muscles use glucose more effectively. Both have their benefits, but it's always best to discuss with your doctor what combination works best for your specific health needs. 😊

Does heat reduce the effectiveness of protein powder?
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
Yes, exposing protein powder to high heat can cause some denaturation of the protein, but it won't make it useless. The structure might change, but your body will still digest and absorb the amino acids. So, it's fine to use protein powder in hot recipes like baking or cooking!

What’s the dosgasfor Berberine?
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Berberine is commonly taken in dosages of 500 mg two to three times per day, though this can vary based on individual needs and health conditions. It’s always a good idea to consult your healthcare provider before starting any supplement to ensure it's the right dosage and safe for your specific situation. My doctor put on Metformin 500mg.. at night.. so far no stomach issues.. I however, get B12 shots every 1-2 mons
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
It seems you're on 500 mg of Metformin, taken at night, and are not experiencing any stomach issues, which is great! It's also good that you're getting regular B12 shots every 1-2 months, as Metformin can sometimes lower B12 levels. Keeping up with these B12 shots will help prevent any deficiencies. Keep monitoring your health, and always feel free to discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider.

Does anyone have a sun allergy with metformin? I go out fully covered except hands and face and i get these bumpy itchy rashes on the backs of my hands almost immediately from the sun but idk if its the metformin. I keep forgetting to talk to my dr about it.
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing that! While Metformin is generally well-tolerated, some people can experience skin sensitivity or reactions, including sun sensitivity, as a side effect. It’s definitely a good idea to mention this to your doctor to see if Metformin or something else could be causing it.
