This is a 45 Minute Mandala vinyasa yoga flow for the new & full moon. A circular, mandala practice designed to embody the soothing energy of the moon - calming and meditative. Part 13 of the Ground and Center series of classes. The full & new moon phases hold special significance in the tradition of yoga as these periods are believed to be a powerful time for introspection, release, and renewal. An ideal time to ground your energy.
The full moon symbolizes a peak of energy and illumination. This heightened luminosity of the full moon is thought to amplify our own inner light and awareness. The full moon’s energy is often associated with increased vitality, receptivity, and strength. This surge of energy can invigorate our yoga practice, however, along with this surge of energy comes the potential for emotional intensity and restlessness. Similarly, the new moon can impact our emotional sensitivity. This practice allows you to ground and center your energy. A slow moving, calm, circular or mandala flow that features balances, steady grounding, standing postures and a sweet cool down - Pigeon pose, star gazer, twist and forward fold. Practice moon piercing breath (Chandra Bhedana Pranayama) as you recline and rest at the end of your practice in Shavasana. A calming, meditative vinyasa that offers you a sense of stability and groundedness.
During your yoga practice on the new and full moon, take moments to pause and reflect on anything you may wish to release or let go of. Allow yourself to surrender any burdens or attachments that no longer serve you, freeing up space for new intentions.
