Yellow buoy with an yellow X: Special mark buoy. The buoy serves to indicate the presence of special features. Such a feature may be pipelines or cables. They can also indicate the presence of a channel within a channel. And I want to say: thank you, Sam. You inspired me to buy a boat and I will follow your example next summer. The buoys are indicators for pipes that now supply 80% of the *gas to Europe* and what possibly will prevent a total economic/social apocalypse the coming winter. Possibly they also serves as detection buoys for Russian subs that makes them indirectly connected to Putin and the war, and should _NOT_ be run over by villain sailors. I wonder if we will see the day when the Russians cuts these pipes. They recently did that with e- and internet cables from Norway to Svalbard by _"accidentally"_ trawling in the wrong sectors. If not intentionally, that also says something about GLONASS (the Russian satellite navigation system) and why they're losing the war.

Hey Sam, your courtesy flag is known as the red ensign (sailors slang: ‘red duster’) The Royal Navy used to be divided into three fleets; the red, the white, and the blue. Each had their own admirals and administration. Since the early 19th century the three ensigns have been used thusly: White Ensign; Royal Navy Warships & Royal yachts. Blue Ensign (blue duster); navy support ships & the private vessels of commissioned naval officers. Red Ensign; merchant ships & privately owned vessels. Im so happy to see Norway, being half myself. Grandfather being " Son of Ol'e " Grandmother a "Rustad" Whom taught us to make Lefsa. She always had Lutefisk on the table. Been watching Sam for a while now, rather odd to see him in my home country. Have done that North Sea trip (in January) before and the rigs are a spectacular and surprising site especially at night time when they are all lit up across the horizon. The sunrise looks amazing on video. It must be incredibly humbling to stand in front of nature when you’re sailing. Seeing the oil rigs was cool too, for some reason. I like to believe there is a harmonious balance at least that’s what I can imagine.

In the war they had floating rescue buoys for downed pilots floating around the English coastline, the yellow marker got me thinking of them..They had a bed a little stove food water cigarettes matches all inside..They had a flag on top which the pilot would change to occupied hoping some other pilot would spot him and sound the alarm for rescue…

Special marks can indicate: *Administrative areas *Water skiing areas *Anchorage areas *Mooring areas *Waiting areas *Marine farms *Oil wells *Dead ends *Pipelines *Spoil ground (an area where dredged material is deposited) *Historic wrecks *Protected areas *Outfall pipes (such as Stormwater, and Cooling water) *Sewerage pipes *Intake pipes *Submarine cables Basically you should avoid them.

I really like your channel and your real navigation and lifestyle. The boat looks also well maintained and really navigation-oriented. Especially compared to many "fake" sailors that try to live on a sailboat like they were at home, with all the bells and whistles, but at the end of the day, they do not sail, they just travel from a protected sunny beach to another and wait till they can motor to another place. But pretend to be "adventurers"...hope to meet you sooner or later!

Hi Sam Regarding the Yellow markers here is what i found Description: A special marking is used to indicate that special conditions apply in an area that you should be aware of. A special marking can e.g. mark a racing track, a speed limit, a cable or a sewer pipe on the seabed. Can also be used in fairways as a guide for ships with a large draft. Inbound ships should keep special markings with a pointed design on the starboard side and a blunt design on the port side.
