Hoarding is usually connected to a traumatic event or mental health issues. Until they heal it is very hard to let go of their things. Even rubbish can become important. I applaud you tremendously for helping your dad. On his more difficult days, try to be patient. You're taking away his safety barrier and that can be scary. There may be some high emotions. It must also be emotional for you too. No one wants their parents to be living like that.
@sallywaites8517Ай бұрын
@@TheLauraVEffectit's important to remember that hoarding is almost always due to a traumatic event or mental health issues. Taking away their things, even trash, can feel like you're taking away their safety. Sadly unless they're willing to admit there is a problem, there isn't really anything you can do. It must be both upsetting and frustrating for you but they're not doing it to hurt you. They need help, the kind of help you can't give them. I hope one day they will be able to get better and clear the hoard.
@TheLauraVEffectАй бұрын
@sallywaites8517 Thank you. I've dealt with it since I was little. I'm very familiar with it. My oldest child's father came from a family of hoarders and was also one. Sometimes our daughter shows signs of hoarding, and she has been that way since forever, so I think it can sometimes be genetic. It's like they just refuse to throw things away. I have severe PTSD and OCD, but mine is opposite. I'm constantly replacing things and getting rid of things - constantly, which sometimes drives other people crazy.

Are we really letting our elderly live without running water for YEARS?! No one deserves this. Auri, thank you for doing this noble thing for him. I live in Michigan and knowing how much a lot of my clients struggle, your work gives me hope that there are so many more people like you--and hopefully some in my area. I have clients who could benefit greatly from learning to clean for themselves, and you have inspired me to move toward starting a program opportunity for my clients! Just like you, people here have skills they can use to benefit others, and I want to help them do it. You've blessed someone with a much better environment to come home and heal to, and I hope the neighbors will step up to help him get the assistance he needs. It need not be them doing it for him, but finding independent living aids to help him be a healthier person at his home, where he belongs. I hope you understand the difference you make for people, and may you always have the blessing of community support. Stay safe!

You are such a remarkable person, Auri. I fear so many seniors live similarly to Ronnie and have no help. Keep up the amazing work, and I have to say I'd absolutely volunteer to help with cleans like these. Thanks for all you do!

So very sad when you understand that there are very real people living in these very bad conditions 😢 It's not just that it "looks" bad but it's so unhealthy for the occupant 😢 You did what you could to improve things for him and I know he was pleased, but I hope he is able to get himself into a better, safer and healthier environment, with running water 🙏💙

My gosh. You are so kind and have such a positive attitude. I was cringing and gagging, and imagining the smells. I have a weak stomach, and could never accomplish what you (and your mom) did here! Kudos to you!

For the stove, just lift the stove top to clean under the burners. For that kind of shower curtin rod, hold it up to your desired height and twist the rod until it becomes tight on the walls and stays in place. No need for tape

You are an amazing lady. I’m a retired nurse but for years on the side I cleaned Doctors homes. I loved it. Most were quite messy. Like crazy. But the level of dirt you can deal with is way more than I could handle. Thank you for your kindness to this man.

Auri how do you accept cleaning homes with no running water? This client has had NO water for 3 years! That's crazy! But you are the world's best cleaner so you show us how to do it. 👍👍 Alicia is an angel for helping her neighbor Ronnie. Your pronunciation of certain words in English are endearing so say it as you like. We Love how you say "trashes"; it's you and it's cute. The bath tub ugly strips are normal in America. They are for safety so not slip and fall. That tub is old so it is no longer useful.

God bless you for what you do, helping people in need. I'm so happy to see that you wear gloves and a mask to clean these houses. This is the worst condition I've ever seen a house in. Usually you see boxes, cloths, toys, quite a bit of trash but there was so much trash in this house. Unbelievable! That's alot of time and hard work to get that whole house clean.

These videos help keep me motivated to keep the house tidy, even when I am having my off days because they show how bad it can get if you leave things. I hope the resident gets some help in the future because it looks like they have mobility issues.
