Kyoto was literally a city we could picture ourselves moving to and living in, and we enjoyed our 48 hours there SO much. 🇯🇵 I kid you not, the delights of Sushitetsu still make an appearance in our dreams every night, and we long for the day when we can return to Kyoto to stuff our faces with more nigiri sushi (!!!!!). 🍣 It was an absolute pleasure exploring this historic city, and in next week’s video, you’ll find us feeding and playing with wild deer in Nara! 🦌 Until next Saturday, friends! 🥰 👩🏻‍🎨 Check out my little art shop for Japan-inspired pieces (and more!) - chadandclaire.com/shop

I agree as well. In the early 90’s when hubby and I lived in the Chiba prefecture (only 20 minutes from Tokyo station though) for 2 years, we only had one quick weekend trip down to Kyoto, and then finally returning in 2014 as a family of 5 it was again only 3 nights to take in Kyoto, Nara and Arashiyama. But! When just my daughter and I went for a 3 week holiday in January 2020 we stopped in Arashiyama for a night, then Nara for 2 nights and Kyoto for 5 nights. Slowing the pace down and experiencing so much more was the best thing we could have done. We also experienced new places outside of Toyko on our way south that I had never been to. Cannot wait to go back again.

Kyoto is definitely on my list on places to visit in Japan once I travek there (hopefully this fall) so I had to add the restaurants in my Google Maps so I remember to visit them! 😂 The sushi looked so delicious and the Japanese hot pot looked really good too but also seemed like a nice overall experience 😍

Lovely city. Kyoto was spared from nuclear destruction during WW2 because of its cultural significance...it was so respected by the international community that it was taken off the list. I really enjoyed the food/dinner segments. I suspect this is a city well worth going back to...longer than 48hrs. Keep traveling! 😊😊😊❤❤❤

I have been watching you guys since Greece. Today I am compelled to write you this message about whale eating/hunting. I noticed you have already received many messages about it, so I won't detail. I love many Japanese culture, traditions... to the point that I studied Japanese for 3 yrs and lived there for 6 months. However, this practice... I personally cannot agree with (esp. in this modern day with modern technology). Since you guys connect with so many people with your travel and exp. it would be nice addressing it maybe in the future. I can tell you guys are nature and animal lovers ( like ur elephant conservation stay in Thailand). So this exp. prob is not something you guys would intentionally do. I will continue to support you guys, watch you and your channel grow, I am confident that you will learn from this exp. Coz afterall, it is why traveling the world is so fulfilling and meaningful right?! :)

What seems to me to be a lost opportunity is that you have the option to spend some time in a place, learn about it and investigate a bit, and then offer up a video with more background information and context, which is where the real value is!

@@ChadandClaire Oh thank you for doing the research. You two always bring the best to us. Whaling is illegal in most every country. Whale hunting is cruel with many whales taking a long time to die after being shot with grenade-tipped. And on top of that the Whales meat contains a lot amount of mercury and PCP because of human carelessness - and thereby eating whale is toxic. 95% of all Japanese do not want whale but the govt is trying to revive that business via tourists. It is damaging that country's global image. Thank you for your new awareness!! 🐳 🐋 💗

that sounds like when vegans say we can't eat animals. at the end of the day we kill animals scaring and hurting them so that we can eat, not only whales. but I mean of course westerns can't accept other cultures and anything that doesn't fit into their moral standards and try to impose theirs. that's what they always do

This was great, the only thing I would have wanted to see was a little of the commercial or industrial side of japan because they are good a making stuff. The japanese have had their own woodworking arts and that building that was built with no nails is not super super rare in Japan, where in the USA you wouldn't go anywhere near a house with no nails, lolz You should have definitely walked around Chad, and started explaining things in japanese and acted like a tour guide for him and filmed everyones reactions!!! Your travel vids are fun to watch, despite your addiction to green tea and sushi, and I can't wait for your next series!!!

I understand hunting and consuming whale are things deeply rooted in Japanese history and culture, but some things are better left in the past, especially when you are doing them for the novelty. Not to mention whale meat is terrible for you as it has high dioxins, PCBs, and heavy metals.

They are in their 20's traveling around and living their life. Stop criticizing people for trying different foods in different countries. They can't be informed on every single thing they see, do or eat. I wouldn't have thought twice about eating whale or any other food for that matter, and I've lived in Japan for two years. Instead of judging young adults for their lives worry about yourself.

Whale! I’m shocked and saddened that you ate whale. You should think twice about all the animals you eat. Octopus (very intelligent animals), baby lamb (so sad). I recommend you watch a few episodes of Whale Wars to see how cruel the Japanese whale hunt actually is. So disappointing… Hope you consider being Vegetarians someday…
@skittydreamsd4766
@skittydreamsd4766 Жыл бұрын
No reason to consider being vegetarians unless it’s for your own health reasons. Don’t forget animals eat each other all the time, quite brutally and sometimes even over a period of hours I might add. Humans are animals as well and we are made to consume BOTH meat and vegetables. Going against nature itself is unnatural. Just because you feel bad about killing another thing? You realize plants are also intelligent in their own way and also react to being hurt as well? Only difference is you can’t see their reaction because they emit it in ways we can’t comprehend yet.

It was so disappointing to see you try whale. Although I respect the fact other countries have different cultures and values, most educated foreigners would be well aware of the cruelty involved in harvesting whale meat. I will now unsubscribe to your channel.
