I love your reviews! Just food for thought, NOBODY on KZbin who does a review of these kinds of displays really shows just how many useable windows you can put on the screen for multi-tasking...except you! For example, at about 7:42 in the video, you don't just talk about screen partitioning...you show it. Knowing I can have 8 windows open at one time helped me realize that I can get more than I need on a 49" as I usually work with 8 - 10 windows open, all of varying sizes. I think when reviewing any monitor and having the productivity discussion this is essential...to show a mixture of window sizes. For example, when you show the 8 windows, why not show it with 10 windows(2 on each end cut in half) and describe what it's like working with a smaller window at the ends on a monitor with that curve. Do you have to turn your head? Is the text big enough and easy enough to read in the smaller windows from that distance? Overall, one of the best reviews I've seen from a productivity perspective and I've watched a lot. Thank you! PS...I'd love to see this on smaller/taller 40", 42", etc. Dell and LG have a 16:9 aspect ratio 42.5" monitor, which is essentially 4, 20ish" monitors but I can't find it in a store to see how I could configure the windows and how many for the way I need to use it. If I can do what I want with a smaller monitor that would be my preference. I don't want to spend money where it doesn't make sense, though I am willing to pay for what I want/need.

I'm using two Dell 27" inch monitors side by side and toed in a lot more than the single 49" you spotlight. This works because I use the second right hand screen for a mail, texting, and music apps. I think this works a little better for me in lieu of one super wide screen, as I can concentrate better on one screen at a time. Of course I can't be sure unless I tested a single wide screen out. Thanks for the video!

Well I suppose you can focus on the right or left side of the screen and that´s like concentrating on one of your Dell screens - but with no bezels.

Does the power toys free software (to custom-split your screen into segments of your preference) work with mac too? Does the 1440 vertical resolution make the image look subpar in quality? How does the image compare to a macbook pro 15" display? Do the blacks look "washed out" (in relation to what they do on the MBP)? I read that for HDR video editing we should be looking into monitors with 1000 brightness level, but this only gives 350.. Does this mean it's not very bright? Will a wireless keyboard and mouse/magic trackpad be responsive fast enough? (It sounds very daunting to have the macbook pro in front of you and control mouse and keyboard on it while viewing things on a screen other than the MBP's which is right in front of you anyway if you use this monitor as a 2nd display to your macbook pro...) - but I am worried that if I use an external keyboard and mouse/trackpad, then there will be a noticeable delay). Is the 60HZ refresh rate a problem when video editing in Final Cut (or 3D rendering in it via the mO2 plugin for Final Cut or for Motion X)? I hope you can answer my questions! :)

49" is fine if you don't mind constantly pivoting your head left and right to see the corners of the screen. Otherwise stick to 34" or 38"

Why isn't anyone talking about one of the disadvantages of ultra-wide monitors? They don't have 4k resolution. Namely - there are no ultra-wide monitors with a pixel density of 150-170 PPI. Of course, they can have 4k-5k pixels in width, but they barely reach 2k in height. This is a significant drawback.

I would add some points in favor of a super ultrawide opposed to 2 screens. -Duals screen are a pain to align, , a problem a single monitor do not have -If you do not have the EXACT sames monitors , the colours won't be the same ,creating a really annoying effect -Two monitors means twice as much cables , with a single super ultrawide you only have one power chord and one Hdmi cable. -If you monitors have no the same refresh rate , windows will nerf your better screen in term of HZ to match to the slower screen, depending on your gpu , you may have heavy problems to solve that.
@michaelb99402 жыл бұрын
Allow me to counter that: Compare this with TWO 5K LG ultrafine Dual monitor you can work on one - while play something on the other (full screen) The resolution can’t be beat It requires TWO cables only IF one monitor goes bust you have the other perfectly good and working. I’m away if you pay $1500 for TWO 5K - and one goes bust you have $750 left and you can sell it as it has a good resell value Ultrawide is all in one and not easy to transport or sell. But I think both. Have their advantages and disadvantages. Depends on the person. If you add a 3rd monitor coving your center and two on either side - wow - that combination can’t be matched

Need support for using Dell UltraSharp 49 Curved U4919DW monitor: When i play Resident Evil 4 (Remastered version UHD-4K) PC game at FULL SCREEN, it cut 20% from top and 20% bottom of the game actual image/picture at 5120x1440 pixel 32:9 aspect ratio. If i want to see full image of game, i must change video settings from the game to 2560x1440 pixel and 16:9 aspect ratio. What is the problem? Do i must change settings of monitor to see FULL image on screen for Resident Evil 4 PC game. At this moment i have LG 32" nano IPS 4K monitor and i see the game FULL SCREEN at 3840x2160 pixel 16:9 aspect ratio. Please help me to solve this issue.

I have the LG 29” UW monitor and a Dell 24” Monitor vertically. I think that combo works well for me. I am in Insurance Sales and I need to have 3 screens up at all times, two horizontal and one vertical. With that said, I can’t have anything bigger than 29”’s horizontally so that it would fit the two screens side by side together and one screen designated in vertical mode for 1 program that I need to ahve the vertical space. I don’t think an super uw monitor would work for me because I need one to be vertical and with my current 29” uw it’s already hard enough to see my vertical monitor as my main monitor is the LG 29”. I was thinking about the super uw but I don’t think it’ll work for me.

So, is a wide display better than two or three monitors then? I have been considering this, as I am about to get my first desktop rig in 15 years. I use two monitors at work and it is beautiful, and one giant display seems really extra somehow.
@jchen_tech3 жыл бұрын
I think it is definitely better than two monitors, just because of the flexibility you get being able to use it as one huge screen, but 3 monitors may be a bit better if your goal is purely for productivity.
@amerasia5189 Жыл бұрын
The wider it is, the more curved the screen should be. Otherwise, the view at both ends will be too far.
