Going through the same thing at my local gym. Been about a year now. 57, bad knees , 105kg. I'm now doing 5 paused at 150kg. Knees feeling better :) Slowly improving but not using a belt yet but i think I'm at the point where i need to use one. I've also started squatting now my knees are feeling a bit better. Currently upto my body weight for 5 reps and a fairly deep squat. Oh and I'm using straps above 100kg as i realised my grip was a weak point after a few reps and I'm not doing the dead lift to improve my grip, there are better exercises for that if required. 5:28

Thank you friend!

Good job and totally agree with not going heavier if you are not feeling it. Deadlifts are an event, not an exercise in many ways. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Thanks man. Deadlifts are a whole thing for sure. Got to take the good days with the bad I reckon. Back is a bit sore now; glad I stopped when I did!

Why are you using a belt when warming up such a low weight? Also you dont want to drop the valsalva before dropping down to the dead stop. Rigidity is key

Just varying when I use the belt to make sure I get used to it. Good advice on the breathing.
