4th Gen 4Runner - Old Man Emu Lift Kit Install and First Impressions!

I ended up buying an Old Man Emu (OME) lift kit for my 4runner project. I optioned out my lift kit with:
- OME upper control arms
- 886 front springs
- OME 90000 front shocks with firmer valving
- 896 rear coil springs
So far I love how it drives, I’m looking forward to getting an alignment soon and doing some off-roading.

Overland experts in Australia say that you should go with pizza cutter tires or skinny’s as they say. It’s better as far as getting out of mud but as far as rock crawling im not sure. So what would be the best size for a good balance of getting through mud and rock crawling if doing both?

I’ve only ever used these tires off roading. This is my first overland/off road build and the 295/70’s have been great for what I’ve done so far. I wish I could give advice but I couldn’t recommend anything with confidence yet

Just put this on our 07 V8 sport. If I'm being honest right now I'm kinda wishing I went with softer valving and medium springs. Pretty stiff so far, hoping it settles down. I really wanted all the height I could get to fit bigger tires but so far I miss the more comfortable stock soft ride where I don't feel every imperfection in the road. I don't have my heavy duty front and rear bumpers yet but carry extra weight other ways. Hoping the new tires I'm about to put on with a softer sidewall will chill things out.

Mine have been pretty comfortable after all this time. I do have the heavy front bumper and rock sliders though. I also do tow my car now and then, so I’ve been very happy with the spring and shock performance

I'm installing the same kit in my '04 4Runner. On the rear shocks, HOW did you get enough thread showing on the top to get the nut on? When I use all the washers that OME provides, I don't get any thread showing on the top! My order is shock, big washer, rubber, smaller washer, frame, flat silver washer, rubber, big washer, nut that can't reach threads...

Can you explain what the difference is between the firmer valving vs. the softer?

What brand/model of tire did you go with? Since posting the video, have you noticed any rubbing that you had to deal with other than the front of the front fender liner?

I went with thunderer trac M/t’s and I did have to trim down some metal behind the tire but not much more than that

Just bought an 05 sport and I’m considering this this kit. How does it ride compared to stock? Im worried about roll over and nose diving

It’s a lot more firm, no brake dive anymore and it sits a decent amount higher. No suspension noises but my mud tires do make a lot of noise on the freeway. I’m sure some all terrains would be better with noise level

These are the heavy duty rear springs. I opted for these since I planned to tow my car to the track and they’ve done great

I had to slightly trim the frame rail behind the front wheels, the front bumper wasn’t an issue because I upgraded shortly after

Hey! How is the suspesnion holding up so far? I got a 05 v8 looking to buy the kit with 896 rear coils, i don't have any rear weight, I dont know if you do as well, but if you dont do they feel good? I plan on hauling my dirt bike from time to time!

Suspension has been great. Still rides smooth and takes hits flawlessly. I got the heavy duty rear springs because I plan to tow my car to drift events but even without added rear weight it still feels nice and manageable

Do you need the extended brake line? And won’t your axles be super stressed with that much lift? Diff drop?

I have rear extended brake lines. I may do the diff drop soon, but I don’t see any issues right now. I don’t do any rock crawling or anything very stressful on the axles so I didn’t see it to be immediately necessary

Did you opted for the heavy load coils or medium? (Probably mentioned on the video) planning on getting the same suspension lift for my ‘21 sr5P, my question is, the vehicle is on stock weight right now, except for a gobi stealth roof rack (roughly about 80 pounds), would it be a problem if i choose to go with the heavy load coils?( for future proofing purposes) , according to the website i’ll be purchasing it from, the heavy load option is for 440 pounds of constant load in the front and 880 pounds of constant load in the rear, i shouldn’t have any problems going with the heavy load options right?

I went heavy load because I plan to tow my car to drift events, daily driving without any added load has been fine though. It’s not overly rough or bumpy 👍🏽
