Smother it all with half a tube of silicone or not? Its a car not a 12 ft tinny!
You decide, but i suggest not going in water that deep for more than a quick few seconds or not at all.
Remember it would have to fill to your air box to your filter element & that will take a while.
Meanwhile your car is filling up & it a write off anyway. Your choice. Cheers.

Thanks for another great video Anthony. I had to argue with my snorkel installer why I don't want to silicon up my intake box. I agree it's a terrible solution. What I found works best for me is I keep a small tub of children's playdough in my Hilux and plug up the box for the river crossing. Once I get to the other side I remove the playdough and double check nothing went in. I hope this helps.

With the 3 holes open, say you drive through a puddle thats deeper than you thought, water reaches the airbox and it starts filling it up from those holes, wouldn't the "vacuum" in the airbox suck in water and fill the airbox faster than just simply submerging the box without the vacuum? It would be good if someone smarter than me came up with something like a "removable grommet" solution to plug those holes, so that you can drain water should you need to. I do 100% agree with NOT removing the 1 way valve and leaving that as is. The 3 little holes on the other hand, bother me more than they should..

I reckon that the water wont come in when the engine is running, thinking that there would be vacuum that would seal the one way valve. I haven't ever sealed one with silicone. Just my opinion.

Your right the engine would create a vacuum which should seal the one way valve.... the issue here is those 3 holes hes showing are not at the one way valve they are open... And the engine vacuum would then suck water in quicker through them it also defeats the purpose of the snorkel raising the intake hight from water if the water is able to fill from the bottom anyway..... I know From experience id rather block the holes after stalling in a deep river crossing years ago it took a few minutes to restart and could have been worse if the airbox had holes other then the 1 way valve

DON'T EVER BUY A SHERPA 4x4 SNORKEL (OR WINCH) If I can save just one person, I've done my job. Scintex is a major scam company.
Do you NEED a Snorkel Pre-Filter for your 4x4?
