I have a 3000-watt harbor freight generator and egg air compressor with 100 ft of hose on a roller mounted to the back of my flat bed. makes life a lot easier when tires are flat, plus it provides electricity for any other problems that may arise.

i know this video is 2 yrs old but you forgot the most important thing to have in your truck. TOILET PAPER cause when you have to go you got to go. as a retired trucker and doing construction over 30 yrs there isn't always a bathroom where you need one and yes i have crawled into a dumpster.

Tip: stick a few magnets on the flatbed and trailers. They’re helpful for holding a strap while you go to the other side to cinch it.

Question, my trailer is on order. I see you talk about jumpers and I dealt with that this year with dump trailers charging the battery's and going dead when dumping. How come you don't run a direct cable from your truck to the trailer ? How often did you run into issue with the batteries being dead or too low to dump/pick up a dumpster.
@rollingops
@rollingops 2 жыл бұрын
I run a direct cable that will keep it charged a little but it isn't charging constantly off the alternator. That is an upgrade you would need to get from an outfitter or trailer shop usually. But my truck itself has 2 batteries as well that keep my trailer relatively charged for over a week if I wasn't plugging it in and it wasn't freezing.

So I have applied for my business loan as of today. Thanks for all the information and also what not to do. My dad works for a waste management aka big fish out of Baltimore. He told me to look at a truck with a hooklift. He explained that getting into residential areas is so much easier. Thoughts?
@rollingops
@rollingops 2 жыл бұрын
If I could go back and start from scratch with all the funds. I'd probably go hooklift If I planned to be full time right off the bat. But I don't have trouble with getting the trailer around nearly as much as some others I've seen. Sometimes I'd argue that I have the advantage in alleys and other spaces that I can jackknife.

@@rollingops have a start up question... my plan is to run 4 cans but my fear is there is no one in this business other than the big companies ... so in a town of 15,000 would there not be a market for it here and that is why no one else is doing it? I'm in Northern Arkansas in the woods. What got me thinking this would work is my personal experience and nightmare of dealing with the big companies getting me a dumpster and then taking forever to come back and get it. It set full for like 20 days.

I noticed you don’t have an MC number? Do you stay in your state or do you rent dumpsters out to other states as well?
@rollingops
@rollingops 2 жыл бұрын
I do have an MC, its just not posted on the truck. I didn't see any of the other trash guys doing it so I didn't list mine? When I do travel into another state it's less than 5 - 20 miles. But I was under the impression my DOT number was connected to my MC number

Question when you get a roll off full of metal do you just take to dump or do you sell to scrap yard?
@rollingops
@rollingops 2 жыл бұрын
This rarely happens to me, and I'm typically about turnover so I don't spend much time even looking in the dumpsters. But I have considered it. And may approach the idea of sorting in the future

As a dumpster rental business owner I have a in my agreement for anyone who has appliances and or scrap metal to put toward the rear of the dumpster so I can separate IF NEEDED and put on my scrap trailer. We bring in additional $500-$700 a month by doing this. If anything it helps a lot with fuel costs thats really the only reason we do it.
