In case anyone is wondering, if you plan on ordering the 5.11 plate carrier and the FAPC plates from Diamondback, the size plates you are going to want to order are XL, not S M or L. The XL plates will fit the 5.11 plate carrier the best. The 5.11 plate carrier is only available in one size also. Both seem to be great products! Thanks for the review and all your help Nutn!

All 5.11 products are amazing. I have worn their pants, shirts, boots and used their pouches alot! They are durable and comfortable. I wear 5.11 pants and shirts for my Armed Security gig as well as have my tactical vest loaded with 5.11 pouches. All of it is very strong stuff. Believe me when i say this, I have to chase and fight with people in this stuff and it is strong.

NickEMT, Thanks for directing me to the profile, I found this: "I fully support the concept of an armed, free people" And, while that's a nice sentiment, I was looking for a more specific (and less vague) statement to the effect of: "I will consider an order to disarm civilians an illegal order and will refuse to follow such an order. I will also serve as an example to others and lead a movement to have any such person who gives that order arrested." We can't have criminals in charge of us

"Me too. It would be a great series (Because I very much doubt that he could fit it all into one video, there would be way too much)." Exactly. It would have to be a multi-part series covering different aspects. Very serious and controversial subject for many so I'm still thinking about it. But there are some maybe helpful thoughts I might impart for what it's worth (probably not much).

Exactly. I hope the example of the unlawful gun confiscations can be used to raise awareness of this issue. Those who are ordered to break the law need to refuse... and those who are asked to give up their only means of defense against tyranny need to refuse. Make no mistake, there will be consequences to both, but that is the price of freedom. Each person must choose for themselves what to do when confronted with that situation. Thanks for your input.

"Are you going to ATTEMPT to disarm US citizens? " Search my comments on my Channel page and you will find my previous answer. You are correct in identifying the serious ramifications of such an event. Short answer is I support the Constitution as I have been sworn to do... and so do many of my military friends. I refuse to disarm our people and no government has the right to deny you the right of self-defense.

Have a plate carrier with wrap-around sides covered in molle webbing - really nice to be able to stash kit on the waist/ hip as well as back/front. Gives you the option to go very heavily laden if you need to.

Hello gassmasher I still love the Crossdraw vest and it remains one my favorite WROL systems. As spoke to in the review vids, it has many advantages to include universal pistol carriage, integrated pouches, zip on and off, and you can still wear it over body armor. Hang on to it and use it. You will love. However there are other good options out there that merit consideration and this is one of them. Peace.
@nutnfancy16 жыл бұрын
My understanding is Katrina was indeed a WROL situation in certain areas with rampant looting, crime, and nonfunctional LE and services. You will see this again. The gun confiscations is a different issue and I stand solidly against such tyranny as stated. So does the NRA because they fought for and won the passage of law to prevent that in the future (during times of disasters). Keep your NRA membership current!

3a is a weave composite fabric that distributes shock and absorbs energy. That is why it is constricted as a fabric in a vest. Most plate carriers are designed to hold level 4 plates.What is interesting is that I believe the rifle plates ($200 each) are designed to work in conjunction with the composite weave armor and not as a stand alone solution.

"do you thank 511 plate carrier would be good for a hunting gear carrier" Yes it could be configured for hunting as well but you might a few odd looks. You might not know this, but there's two kinds of sheep dogs: dogs which herd the animals and keep them in a group, and guard dogs which blend in with the flock of sheep and protect them by recognizing and scaring predators away. Apply the latter idea to humans. People might call themselves sheepdogs, because if a number of well intentioned, armed people exist in society, potential predators are discouraged from preying on anyone. i.e. They don't know who's bite might be worse than THEIR bark.

@jzrdw What i would reccomend is having all the parts to turn your gun into a real gun, a normal mag release and all the parts you need to make 30 round magazines, if they arent assembled its not illegal, and it wont take to long to get it all together after WROL hits.
@tepid316 жыл бұрын
There are, unfortunately. It really just depends upon the state. In states like Connecticut, they require a face to face transfer(if you can get one), and in NY, they just recently passed a bill denying the purchase of soft armor and rifle plates by civilians. I have heard from multiple people it is this way in CA. This makes armor only available to LE/military in these states. thanks for withdrawing the comment you posted to me before.

If I am not mistaken, either 5.11 or blackhawk make shotgun shell carriers that can be attached via MOLLE. I do not have any shotgun shell specific carriers on my vest, but I think I have seen them. the old LBE where you wear the magazine pouches on your hips isnt bad in some cases it is really really nice but when doing allot of running even when tight it rubs the hell out of your hips and bounces allot; I would say go with the military LBV with the vest pouches angled inwards the vertical ones are good but do get in the way of your shoulders. Hope that helps.

@dogpunch223 Yeah, I figured the bullet would not do much, but thought the shell casings might go off in a domino effect if one got hit and you would have lots of shredded brass flying around. its just a feeling I get when I see one of these tactical magazine vests. There's always a compromise. Many CCW guys like their shoulder holsters. Some designs are better and some are worse in this regard, but with the muzzle to the back design, you'll likely point the pistol at your weak arm briefly during draw. I don't see your gripe though: if you use the chest holster correctly, you're no more pointing the pistol at your chest than you would your thigh with the holster on the hip. A lot of guys have have put holes in their leg and foot. Best to be conscious of it
@jabara8314 жыл бұрын
im not experienced in miltiary and such in anyway, but the question has been eating away at me for days now. when you take a shot in the vest or watever and it hits you in maybe a magazine or something of the such. the bullets are filled with black powder so would they act like an explosive on your chest (kinda like the sherman tanks during wwii) or would it not act as a grenade on your chest?

At this moment on the 5.11 website, the "plate carrier vest" is on clearance for $24.99. I've looked around, and this appears to be the same "large plate carrier" Nutn has here.
