A lot more functionality than you get in most machines at a good price.
TL/DR: In addition to the normal white noise features, this guy packs in a clock with dual alarms, a Daylight Savings Time setting, two USB chargers, a nightlight, and stereo speakers. The UI makes it a little tough to use some of the features, but once you work through them you are getting a lot for the money,
Pros:
o Nice nightlight
o Bonus USB chargers
o All UI elements in a good position, facing your head on your pillow
o Dual alarm clocks
o Clock brightness setting
o Timer
o Decent range of sounds
o Hard coded buttons for sound categories
o Battery backup of clock and settings
Cons:
o Proprietary barrel cable for power
o No battery operation
o Some parts of UI are counterintuitive
o No nightlight brightness setting
o You have to memorize the number of the sound you like
o Top end of the sound is a little damped down
This white noise machine does a lot, and with great features often comes inferior user interface.
Instead of having dedicated buttons or even better (but much more expensive) and adaptive touch screen, this device has a bunch of buttons that are overloaded to perform different features depending on how and when you press them.
What to set one of the alarm times? Yep, you push the alarm button, but only with the device turned off. When it's turned on, you are telling it to turn on/off the alarm.
Want to see the time of day? Short press on the Daylight Savings Time button. Counterintuitive, a long press actually changes back and forth between Standard Time and Daylight Savings Time.
Hang on the manual and keep it in your bedside table, because the functions that you don't use very often, like setting the time of day might frustrate you when it comes time to try to run them.
All that said, I give kudos for packing all these features into a goofy looking machine at a really nice low price. If the price was higher I would definitely have given it 4 or even 3 stars, but you have to admire the ability to keep it economical while adding a lot of cool stuff.
My grandson is using this - he replaced an older, simpler machine, and now his take on this is that if you want to take it away from him you are going to have a fight - he really likes it.
One last thing I'll mention is that this device has dual speakers, and they are advertised as being true stereo. I had a hard time believing it, but I will take their word for it. They say that instead of using a chip to generate canned sounds, they have a 5GB memory card with sampled sound, so it could well be good stereo.
