Whats your recommendation on the inseam length for shorts for a short guy? 4, 5, 6 or 7 inch? I am 5’4”, and anything longer than 7 inch goes below my knee.

Doesn't matter how short or tall you are. Slightly above the knee is normal although at the knee is ok too.

Great advice Ashley! So many men totally blow this in summer. Dated, tacky, ugly. One thing I keep at the ready is very lightweight long solid coloured golf pants. Paired with a solid camp shirt in either linen or cotton, it really turns heads. I use this when its cool out or when shorts just aren’t appropriate. Watch , one ring and one thin metal, thread, bead or leather bracelet…thats it, no more. Another accessory I have is a plain solid coloured cotton shopping bag that compliments the outfit. Usually white, cream or beige. Tossed over the shoulder, held by a finger or two and hanging down my back. (not around the shoulder like a purse) Says Im keeping it cas and with a bit of whimsy, but still have stuff to carry.

Absolutely. These summer shorts combo’s are where white sneakers work the best imo. Practical for summer street wear while espadrilles or Huarache Sandals are stylish, they need Lenin shorts, Lenin pants, Jorts, or slim jeans to not look odd and are only good for lounging in the park or backyard think family picnic or beach and are horrible for any significant walking.

Perhaps you could go a size up, then get your tailor to take in the shorts to get a perfect fit? I don't know what style of shorts you're wearing, but I wear linen shorts. They almost always come with an elastic waistband and drawstring. This gives me a lot of flexibility to nail the size of the hips and legs, while the waist size just takes care of itself. You still might need to pay the tailor tax. (Muscular men usually do.) But it might minimize the number/type of alterations required.

The ONLY thing I'm not convinced of is the Just-Say-No to pleated shorts. Depending on the length, fit, and how it's styled, I kind of dig them. I can see how pleated shorts can go wrong easily though -- there would have to be a subtly to them, but I still think they can work. Disagreement aside, solid video.
