My recall command is "CHEESE!" 😂 I get some strange looks but it works. Great channel, Eric. Sorry I meant to add, you said something really pertinent, that Capri is constantly checking in and ensuring you are not too far away, I have noticed my puppy doing this. It reassured me and gave me confidence in our off leash experience.

Great advice, really appreciate. In socal mountains, we taught them with solid 'wait' as well as immediate recall, as a rapid recall causes the puma to chase. Had a few interractions with young pumas and the wait probably saved them until the cats moved off...

Would you mind sharing what brand or type of E-collar do you use? I have an 11 week old GSD but don’t necessarily won’t to expose him to a shock so early

Your first tip is a good one, but can also be mitigated if you teach them voice reaponse levels as verbal corrections. My wolfdog i can say his name and het him to come or give a basic correction and hea chill and responds perfect. But if he does get stubborn he also associates a more stern voice or change in tones and volume to a more serious correction that was originally tied to either his virbration settings on his e collar or his leash and regular collar. Voice based corrections are how ive trained most dogs. Along with large amounts of verbal praise and attention praise. Association to other factors matters alot. My current cane corso puppy when she gets stubborn and i do have to give her a vocal correction beyond the basic she doesnt show any negative effects. And in combo with clicker training and rewarding her correcting the behavior she shows apparently happy behavior and looking to me deapite having just been corrected. Only 4.5 months but my normal methods are working fine. Theres always litrle touches that can make a world of difference. Wouldnt consider myself a professional or even that level. But deffs experienced. But im fairly certain even you hadnt considered levels of verbal corrections and Association to various factors. The name call is just supposed to be a sort of look at me or check in command. Used properly can also work as a decent distraction tool if you can lock in that behavior. Also works for working dogs very well. The additional protection work commands my wolfdog has that i did myself on top of the protection training he got professionally are used for specific reasons. He knows how to react as need be and has other basic commands. Others are fine with the 2 step process and requiring a bit of targeting. Can also make it easier to start Association of non verbal commands or non language based verbal commands. Or vollar based commands. If i tell joda to show off depending how it was said woukd determine his actions. My moms dingo mix thumber. Breakfast meant 5 different things including literally breakfast. But also 4 different protection type commands. With intensity levels. All that was required was holding a hand at a certain height or a snap and different intensity of voice. From grab pant legs and drag em to the ground. To full out jump up grab their shoulder and put them to the ground. A chase off command and return once a certain distance had been pushed. And then the equivalent of me saying joda show off with a stern voice. If i say it with a bany voice he reacts different. Also the best way to handle certain types of primitive breeds in my experience and opinion. Keep up the great work dude. You always have good advice. I never considered the potential downsides to the name based training. Ill deffs keep an eye open for any downsides popping up on any dogs i help train or train for myself. I hope the voice training explanation made sense. Intensity levels is something you sometimes see done but can be done with much more subtlety then people realize. But takes certain foundation work. And worked really well for a rescue st miguel cattledog, a kangal a Caucasian shepherd and a tibetan mastiff 2 of my friends have between them. And its working with the malakli rescue so far someone in that area has. Works with my corso pup. Only dog it didn't seem to work with so far was a samoyed ive only had 3 interactiond with but already listens to me better then it's owner. Takes a bit more foundation time. But multiple command call associations can make future training easier. Joda is fully verbal in lsnguage sounds and non verbal plus hand commands. Can also guide him via leash pressure with a finger and thumb even if you let him lead walking wise you can direction his direction via similar multiple Association training methods. Left right halt heel and slow down plus sit. Hana my corso pup is already picking up on it.

@11:09 I was actually just thinking this the other day. I wish I would’ve used something other than “Okay” as a release command and something other than “Yes” because this happens to me in casual conversation as well. I’m trying to think of good substitutes. Any ideas?

I appreciate your videos. New subscriber. I actually like your way of training. I follow alot of trainers and your way feels so natural. I have a stubborn shiba inu mixed with Maltese. The sweetest dog yet super stubborn and fiesty. 😅 id like to get her to do everything your doggos do. 👌🏽

Forgot to mention my main issue.. That she scavenges in the living room and kitchen for anything that she can eat off the floor 🤦🏽♂️ She knows the commands leave it.stay.wait. Sit. Down. Break. This way. But every time i say to leave it she never listens and gets whatever she picked up

You are amazing please help I have 2 1 year old boxers I don’t know where to start with recall they only listen to each other and not me. How do I start this? Obviously I can’t just let them off and train them with these commands as they won’t listen the love a run but I have to make sure it’s on a secure field with no one around. Also they pull like trains when on a lead 😩
@Christopher-vf6kx Жыл бұрын
Train them to come to you in the house 1st with high value treats and gradually move them to higher stimulus areas with a long lead. If they are still pulling at 1 yr on walks 🤦♂️, get a sprenger and learn how to use it with them carefully. They need to know that they will do what you ask of them whether they want to or not before recall can be solid.

I'm starting to think why many trainers use ecollar with all the time and training abilities they have
