2:30 in Ibis Paint X you have an option to "add layer from canvas". Which allows you to add a layer that includes everything shown on the canvas. I usually use it to blure my line art by hiding the other layers and adding a layer just of the line art. Easier than sorting all the folders and layers in one folder :)
@KingBaller06gaming3 жыл бұрын
Useful tool, especially if you want to do any filters on the image. That way it you don't like it you can simply delete the layer.
@fiercespiritwolf12933 жыл бұрын
Where do you find this option?
@namotori3 жыл бұрын
@@fiercespiritwolf1293 when you open layers, underneath the thumbnail of your canvas you have some option like flip canvas or add picture. One of them is a square with plus sighn "+" inside it. Click it and it gives you some options including the one you're looking for :)

Ooh I'm gonna try out some of these! I like to throw on a grunge or watercolour texture on a low opacity multiply/overlay layer to give it a gritty, tactile feel :)

For me, it's gradients. I always use a semi-complementary color (i.e the art is blue, I use dark red etc) and position it as either a shadow or a light source. From there, I change the layer mode, and BOOM. Done
@milkflavored3 жыл бұрын
Can I ask why dark red would be your choice as opposed to orange? (I’m literally thinking complementary colors, like on an elementary school color wheel)
@Henleash_Alt3 жыл бұрын
@@milkflavored sure! I guess I misused the word complementary lol, but the reason I use dark red is because it creates a natural shadow when the layer mode is changed. So, it gives more variation and makes a more natural transition without actually going in and darkening the shading. For lighting, I go with either a warm yellow or a light blue. Let’s say my piece is blue, and I use a dark red and change the layer mode to overlay. It makes the blue turn into a reddish-purple and creates a nice, saturated shadow. Hope that makes sense
@milkflavored3 жыл бұрын
@@Henleash_Alt it does! thank you so much for explaining. I’ll try to think more about colors enhancing other colors ☺️

@@Henleash_Alt so actually instead of complimentary you choose colors that when combined turn the composition harmony analogous?

I've been experimenting with deepening my shadows with a multiply layer from the color scheme (usually a blue or purple) and an add layer with a light yellow or blue for highlights. I usually just paint in the initial shadows an highlights on the same layer as the base color but this has helped my art look less flat recently :D

It's fascinating how everyone has different finishers. I have a few that are similar to a couple of these, but others that are completely different. It's one of the beautiful things about everyone having different styles! Great tips btw
@luoqiangwei3 жыл бұрын
Chromatic Abberation is a finisher I use a lot, it's when you select one of the three color channels (blue / red / green) and more it around, it creates a slight 3D effect and can really make a difference

This is pretty basic but I like to take a color dodge layer and pick a few areas id like to brush it on. Maybe like a line I want in focus or around the shoulders or hair. then I pick colors from the color scheme I used and try to compliment where I'm drawing (ex: if I'm doing gt over the skin id pick a color from the color scheme that's not a skin tone that'll complement the skin ton like a blue of something if that makes sense. Or ill do it the same color as the lighting). Another thing I like to do near the end is take a glittery brush on an add layer and ad some light sparkles to the highlights (cheekbone, shoulders, wherever there's a bright highlight.) it adds some interest and extra tecture

my favourite finisher is using motion/gaussian blur on a new layer and setting that to “color”. it creates an almost vhs-effect and brings the piece together

After I finish everything, I like to do a high pass layer set to overlay instead of sharpening! It's just a little bit crisper/appealing to me ^^ Duplicate + Merge the stuff you wanna "sharpen" into one layer > filter > other > high pass > set the radius to not be too wide (subtle is better here) > set your blending mode to overlay, and adjust opacity to your heart's content.

One thing I like to do is take all the shapes that make up my characters, and create dark silhouette figure of the character. Then I place it underneath the actual character and guassian blur the layer a bit so it makes a dark "glow" around the character. Usually finish that up by setting that blurred silhouette to multiply and lower the opacity a bit. Makes the character pop but of course isn't very realistic haha I just think it looks neat
