Lick #1 is classic Yngwie. He does it in literally every song. That's definitely his trademark build tension and take a break from shredding move lol.

But I I’ve been practicing these 5 easy licks since I tore the floppy plastic recording of , Black star out of Guitar player magazine ,and to my shear pleasure the first notes of the Em arpeggios began to sustain longer and while doubling the main licks that started to double the 3rds,5ths,flat 3rds and you know. In that 5mins I was turned into an early adopter, an early Yngwie enthusiast. I will leave it there , cause if you’re reading this , you just get it. It’s about the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard played with the most passion squeezed out of every note. I lost Randy Rhoads in 82 but I found Yngwie around when that magazine came home with me 83,84 or there abouts [I turned 20 in 1985 for reference ]. And my next BIG discovery was STEVE VAI [ I met him one time for a couple of pictures, he signed 3 cds for me, that was in 2007 , 2008 time period. A question for everyone to participate in, Does he still use brass nuts ?

Yngwie was the first one to explain why diminished arpeggios work so well with harmonic minor...and it's so obvious when you see it. The 7th sharped tone is the same 1 1/2 step stretch as the diminished arpeggio.

For lick #2 a great way to ease into that sort of lick or run, check out Rainbow's Death Alley Driver. From the Straight Through the Eyes album. Check how Blackmore starts the solo.

The start of that solo is actually a paraphrase of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor (transposed to A minor in this case).

@MrPolevaulter3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. Personally I recommend doing what comes naturally, and not overanalysing stuff. If you have trouble with something, then you need to think about it obivously. I'd probably not recommend a proper fist though. Doesn't strike me as relaxed.

Killer video. Love it. That first pyrigian scale I will have to practice. The third one I use myself. Love that seventh I think it is that makes the harmonic minor. Love it. I don't know modes. At all really, but I do understand the theory behind it, but I'm a blues rock guy and 99.999999 percent of my playing and even when I giggled was playing blues based music because that was what paid. I do play guitar for myself, and hope others like it, but use my ear and just figure out what I want to play. Have done so since about 77. 😀 That baroque and roll lick is hard to do fast. Man, dammit. Now I have to practice tonight. You've stirred my guitar craving. 🤣 Great video sir. Be safe my friend! Is it possible to use string skipping instead of sweeping those arpeggios?
