I lost 30 pounds and stalled big time. But being older, I stayed with a ketogenic lifestyle in fear of gaining it back. After a year, I discovered intermittent fasting and that was a game changer. Lost 20 more pounds and have managed to maintain for almost 5 years now. All your suggestions are good ones. Love both your channels!

Lost 57 lbs. Current weight: 130 lbs. Did it with strict keto and IF. Now trying to maintain my weight, allowing myself extra carbs from keto friendly veggies. My tips: count total carbs, not net carbs, don't add 'extra' fat like fatbombs, bullet proof coffee, MCT oil. Eat whole foods, no processed stuff. Good luck all!

I think Dr. Berry and Nurse Nancy have said it's not technically a stall unless it's been more than 3 months. Dr. Berry and Neisha call it a pause. What helps me is to just eat Carnivore or do BBB&E. Carb creep is a real thing! And I will never stop drinking my coffee either. I'm with you ladies! 💯 Love your videos and both of your channels. 💗💗

I started keto (for the first time ever) 10 weeks ago, and now I'm down 38 lbs. There have been a few periods where the scale wasn't budging much. Early on I tried adding in exercise or IF, but I found both of those seemed to shut my metabolism down and make the stall last longer. Now I just wait it out. I try to remind myself how much better I feel being in ketosis compared to before I started this lifestyle. I love the freedom of not getting hangry throughout the day anymore! You have both been so helpful on this journey, can't thank you enough!

I like your approach to a low carb lifestyle. I am 60 years old and have been on a low carb lifestyle since Feb 3, 2019. I decided to try low carb when I found it difficult to cut my toenails (we all have our own breaking point, right :) ) I don't weigh myself, count calories, carbs etc. I just stick to low carb foods and I eat reasonably sized portions so I don't need to snack at all. I went from a very snug size 18 to a size 8 or 10 in about two years (the higher costing clothes were size 8, Walmart clothing are size 10...anyhow, I digress...). Other than introducing legumes to my diet, in reasonable quantities, in the last two years, I have maintained this low carb life style and my size is consistent. I believe I can do this forever. That's my goal, anyhow.

Okay well my #1 tip is (and I know most people won’t do this) but I still track everything I eat, and I’ve been doing this for almost three years now. I use the carb manager app…. Like every app of this type, it takes a lot of work initially to put in all your own recipes etc to get a good personal database going, but over time it gets much easier. It’s just an ingrained habit for me now. I lost all the weight (almost 100 lbs) in the first year and a half or so, but I still continue tracking. Also, I know it’s debatable counting calories versus carbs, but I would point out that when you are overeating calories there are most likely carbs sneaking along for the ride, and they add up for sure, and everyone’s threshold for how many carbs they need to be at per day without stalling or regaining weight is different, it might be lower than one realizes…

This is spot on. I have been doing keto since June and I stopped weighing myself since the scale wasn't moving and keep going. I have lost a lot of inches. I have learned be patient with myself.
@janiemiddlebrooks8993
@janiemiddlebrooks8993 Жыл бұрын
Good points! When I started low carb lifestyle for my health, I lost inches before the scale started showing it. And after I had my six month checkup, I relaxed my diet. I started trying other gluten-free pastas and breads. But it's time to get serious again and start making my own breads and leave out pasta. Remember that if you weigh yourself on a different scale, you may get different results. I used my son's scale this past week and it said I gained 4 lbs since my last weigh in at home. I just weighed at home today and it says I've lost 3 lbs since weighing on my scale. I do need to start tracking my measurements. I have 5 months till my next Dr appointment. The hardest part for me right now is getting rid of clothes that are too big for me. I'm down 22 lbs in 7 months, but down 67 lbs in 2 years.

I have been on a self-imposed stall for months. Family issues, life stuff, yada yada. All excuses to say I’m not 100% right now, but I will never NOT be keto again!! I STILL consider myself keto, and I daily strive to be keto. But whatever. I will eventually be 100% again and that is how I have to look at it. Thank You Lord I haven’t gained all my initial loss back in all this mess, but someday, hopefully soon, I will be back in my stride and losing like I was at first. You ladies have been such an inspiration and continue to be each and every week, and now twice a week (makes me so happy) since you have this new channel! I had a plateau a few weeks ago. I was getting so frustrated. So I double checked everything I was eating and I adjusted some things by buying the sugar free product. Like Coffee Creamer, jelly, barbecue sauce. And just doing that I lost like 4 lbs in a week. I never lose more than a pound a week so that was a great week. I just worry all the time that I'm going to gain weight back and I rely on my scale way too much. I think I'm going to start measuring myself. Thanks so much for thos it really helped. 😊 love you guys.❤️

Bell is on, not being notified...🤔 Doctor Becky's 'stoppers' were a game changer for me. Gum, tea...and the most beloved sponsor right now, LMNT, to end the meal and prevent snacking. Talking to myself more too. "Hey!, justifying 'extra energy' in my mind does not change what it does in the body. Walk away from the snack!"
@angieto24

I also think that carb cycling can help break a stall! I’m not saying eat like a cheat day or anything, but maybe one day eat more carby fruits or veggies probably to like 50g of carbs, then next day keep it max to 15-20g or so. Do this for maybe a week and see if the scale moves!
@smhobbs29

I do 1-2 meals a day and an occasional 2-3 day fast. I’ve been up and down about 3 lbs for probably 2 months now. I’ve still got about 10 lbs to lost, so it’s very frustrating but I’m pretty sure I’m eating too many calories. My carbs stay low, but I’ve been snacking on nuts and olives right after dinner so I’m eliminating those until I hit my goal. I agree on the exercise. I use to be a fitness instructor and I was overweight the 8 years I taught, even though I was working out 2-3 hours a day. I understand strenuous workouts, other than a 5 minute HIIT workout, will raise cortisol levels and make it harder to lose weight and belly fat. I pretty much only walk and my belly is flatter than it’s ever been!

I've been on keto since 2/2022 (for the 2nd time). First time I lost 23 lbs. Then the holidays came around. Next thing I knew it was a year later and I was back up 8 lbs. Decided that was enough. I'm now down 18 more lbs so I've lost 30 total. It's again coming up on the holidays and I have a really hard time with all the goodies out there so I do have to weight myself every couple of days or it's too easy to let things get out of control. I'm one of those that hates to count/record stuff. I did the 1st go around just so I could get a good idea of portions and carbs. I'm sure I would lose faster if I continued to do that, but I'm happy with slow and steady loss. And agreed - coffee is a line I won't cross lol.

It will be 3 weeks tomorrow for me. Lost 9.2 pounds and 1.5 inches off my hips and 2 inches of my waist and 1.5 off my bust. I have been frustrated because I think I am stalling. It's been a week since the scale moved. I keep carbs below 21 and calories way under 1500. I am determined to make keto a lifestyle. I may have to reevaluate my goals. Maybe they were unrealistic. I was hoping to drop 4 pounds a week. I do IF but admittedly I was doing it before starting keto. I wonder if my body is so used to IF it's not being tricked? Maybe a 24-48 straight fast. I don't know. I will be 60 next year. I wonder if age has anything to do with how fast we burn fat. So many questions very few answers 😅

Want to share I had a stall for a month. I also had Covid (despite full vaxx). During it and after for a few weeks I used Nyquil for pain and symptoms (my best friend!). Didn't know Nyqill has 20 carbs per dose, 24 for nightime. Soon as I stopped it, weight loss continued. There are sugar/carb free options available.

I switched from low carb to Keto on 7/2/23. I’ve tested my urine a couple times a day and it always comes up negative. I eat about 1200 calories a day and no more than 20 carbs. I’ve even gone as low as 11 carbs. My test’s always come up as negative. It’s very frustrating. I don’t eat any real sugar. I drink either water or LMNT. I don’t get it. I’ll just keep plugging along. I’ve lost 33 pounds low carb./low sugar/low cal. Guess I’ll just go back to that with Keto recipes thrown in. I had spaghetti tonight with sugar free marinara and zucchini noodles. I don’t even like many vegetables, but it was delicious! I get a lot of recipes from you ladies and Myra at LowCarbLove. Thanks for being you, both!

For me, getting strict on measurements usually explains the stall. I’m eating either more than I realized or more carbs and calories than I realized. As soon as I make the correction, problem solved.

For me, measuring myself and the scale works. When I haven't lost any weight, then the inches start coming off. When weight comes off, the inches stop. Has anyone else noticed that?

At your ages maybe exercise isn’t as important but as you age it’s vital to your spine, back, bones and heart! I’ve been uncoordinated and off balance all my life BUT I started exercising in water and that was the answer. I lap swim but those aqua classes with a good instructor are also good and fun besides. Good luck..,you two are funny and great.

Sometimes the ol' body just goes into stall mode here and there. Patience is the key word. There are no rules requiring you to drop 5 lbs a week. Keep your focus on the long term.

You can’t exercise away a bad diet. Exercise is good for many things and helps keep your organs, joints, and muscles healthy but it’s a terrible weight loss plan. I believe it’s less about calories and more about how many times you put food in your mouth. Every time you do it triggers insulin which is THE fat storing hormone. Also, your body will burn new fat before stored fat. That’s science. So, if you’re eating loads and loads of fat, you never give your body the chance to burn stored fat. Eat enough to feel satiated but not so much that you’re constantly only burning dietary fat. You can eat more protein for satiety.

LOL, so three months of no loosing weight is a stall? Here's a brain teaser... If I'm at my friends house, I don't lose weight, or I gain it. It doesn't matter that I get more exercise here. I'm sticking to my diet.. I'll lose a pound a day at home, and gain weight here. WTF?
