5 Great Games That Will Run on Almost Any PC

Whilst we all have different hardware the games we play all share something in common, their minimum requirements. As games get more demanding those of us with budget systems will gradually get left behind, especially if we don't have the means to upgrade. In this video I'll be sharing five timeless classics that almost any PC, laptop or even Windows tablet should be able to run, regardless of their specifications.

Did some researches. If you wanted to play hl2 in high w/o anisotropic filtering and antialiasing with over 60 fps, you needed at least a Radeon 9800 pro or a GeForce 6600GT. They selled at $200-$250. It isn't remarkably better than today

I think the point here is all these game will run on todays low end machines no matter what they are, but at the time, a recommendation like "directx 8" or "32mb" card is kind of useless, and for a channel that's about low spec gaming, its sort of an insult to throwh out vague requirements like that. But what were you expecting, a performance rundown of 10 directx 8 cards. I kind of was. jk

Alaa Afara underground 1&2 should work on the settings a ps2 uses (low res at somewhere like medium quality). However on an entry level gfx card you run it max at 1366x768 with fxaa without any problems.

If you dont have the money for a good PC i can recommend a build: CPU: Xeon e5440 + LGA771 to 775 Mod Sticker (around $18) MB: Just any LGA 775 Motherboard that can use Xeon CPUs(Check if it can run a Q6600, then it should be fine) $25-70 RAM: 4-8GB DDR2/DDR3(Depends on the board you find.) $20-70 GPU: Any older GPU, that has enough performance for you, or just a GTX1050/RX460 PSU: should have enogh cables for all your components and enough performance Case: The cheapest you find.

If you really want to get down and dirty you can install HL2 from the original discs without any Steam updates. Then it only requires a 1.2 ghz processor, 256 megs of RAM, and a DX7 capable GPU, although it can be run with even less. I remember when HL2 was brand new I played through it on my parents computer, a Compaq Presario with an 800mhz Pentium 3, Geforce MX-200, and 256 megs of ram. It was not pretty, I had a barely playable framerate at 640x480 with everything turned down, and the loading times were eternal. As for other great low spec games? There are a lot of great old strategy games, Starcraft: Brood War, Civilization 2/3, Sim City 3000, to name just a few, all of which are 15+ years old and will run on virtually anything.

Yes, if someone decides to port it to ARM and Linux. Portal/Portal 2 and Half Life/Half Life 2 would run well if they were ported. They also run natively on Linux, so no porting for that needed, just ARM ports of Steam and the games!

Technically, Portal was released after Windows Vista, but everybody hated Vista and stuck with XP until Windows 7 finally came along. Even then some people have clung to Windows XP.
