Sheet music for this lesson is here: drive.google.c...
Five cool examples of drum fills that can be quickly and easily created using the TEA - COFFEE - CAPPUCCINO - BLACKCURRANT - MOTORBIKE method.
Short version:
1. Choose tea, coffee, cappuccino, blackcurrant or motorbike for each of the four beats in the bar.
2. Play the phrase you've created around the kit as snare, tom 1, tom 2, floor tom for beats 1,2,3 and 4.
3. Orchestrate it! This is where the fun really starts and you get to play the pattern you've created around the kit any way you like. Experiment!
Quick video recap of this way of creating fills is here: • How To Create Your Own...
And full course of videos about creating fills is here: • How To Create Your Own...
These five examples are great fills in their own right, but also will hopefully act as some inspiration for how you could very easily create your own using the same system.
On the face of it these fills are at the Grade 1 level - they only contain Grade 1-level rhythm vocabulary. But of course as you pick up speed and move around the kit the level of difficulty increases!
Have fun and please let me know if any questions :)

Well this lesson will help on my timing with fills and getting back to 1 as you should. right now some guys give me a funny look when I go for it. Although I am onlyt a year and 3 or 4 months into this, I have built a nice band, bass, lead, 2nd and two vocalists and of course drums.We have been together about 5 months now. Ken I am so excited.

Could use lemonade if you are on the drinks theme mike...instead of motorbike...I use tea..coffee..coca cola lemonade blackcurrant 😂
@MikeBarnesDrums
@MikeBarnesDrums 10 ай бұрын
Yes, "lemonade" is quite commonly used. The only reason I tend not to use that is that I've seen more students get the rhythm confused with "lemonade" than I have with "motorbike"!

@@MikeBarnesDrums They seem so perfectly placed. I'm a couple months into learning the drums & I've been scanning & watching a lot of instructional videos. You have the best teaching style of anyone! You break it down and go very slowly and then build it up and your word association, tea, cappuccino, motorbike, black current etc. is SO helpful! Your kit sounds really good too! Thank you so much!

Love this series Mike! Do you have a pneumonic device for two sixteens followed by a sixteenth rest and then the last sixteen in the beat is played? So 1 e (rest) uh . Thank you!

@MikeBarnesDrums 4 жыл бұрын
Hi man, that’s always a tricky one - there no word that I can think of that really suits that rhythm figure perfectly. Tend to use “bowling ball”, but you still need to say it with the correct rhythm so not ideal! Suggestions welcome! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
