"My son is not a monster" I can understand her thinking since as a mother she has unconditional love for her son, but at some point she had to realize the fact he murdered some innocent kid over nothing AND smiled/taunting the victim's family says otherwise.

I have yet to see a mother not say something along the "my kid is not a monster" line. Until I see otherwise I will continue to believe that denial is the common behavior of a killer's parents.

the first case is so outrageous. the audacity that family member had to say they "hate them all" to the victims family is beyond me. YOUR family member shot theirs and TOOK HIS LIFE. Now her family is trying to get her out of prison saying that she is in prison wrongfully that she did nothing wrong, that she is not guilty! She was offered 15 years if she would testify. Now she wants that 15 year sentence saying that she did not think she would be found guilty, and that if she was a man she would not have been found guilty saying that men get less time. I can’t believe that they think that. If that was true then the men charged with her would have gotten less time. The sentence that they got was mandatory by law.

It amazes me how many cold blooded killers show great remorse for their actions when they are brought to trial. Frankly, I don't think their tears are truly shed for the victim or the victim's family, but for their own selfish desire to avoid a lifetime behind bars.

In the best case he will, but there are people who belong behind bars because they're a threat to others and that won't change regardless of what may happen. My brother taught school for approximately 40 years and he said that he used to tell his students, "If you are a good kid and you tell me that you have never broken the law, show me who your friends are and I will predict if you should start saying 'I have never broken the law....yet'." I think he is 100% correct because if you haven't yet broken the law but you hang out with a bunch of punks who think it's cute to see how many laws they can break and not get caught, it is just a matter of time until you and all your friends are in prison together!

False. Most of them were punished by strict parents with physical abuse, which is how they learned to use violence as an expression of anger. Most kids like this had incredibly strict parents who used physical violence as a tool to control them, which is how they learned to be violent themselves.
