Agreed. I’m in my later 60’s. A few years ago I lost some weight and ditched my baggy clothes, especially baggy chinos. And while nobody’s gonna mistake me for a spring chicken, I don’t look like a frumpy old man anymore.

Blue and brown tend to be my base in about any outfit, although I will also work in some gray or green (mainly olive shades). Other colors will occasionally make an appearance, but those are my standards.

Love wearing a nice dark blue pair of slim fit jeans, shoes & a classy/casual dark grey,dark blue or black jacket with a red pink or orange shirt/polo underneath as a contrast adding a bit of flare to the outfit during the duller months of the year giving that feel good factor & myself a confidence boost!

Can you do a vid on work attire? Business casual. Like what’s a good stylish polo shirt. Any good cheap brands to keep in mind of. Maybe for a creative employee type or casual corporate. Slacks shoes jacket… especially now that winter is coming (GOT shout out). Comfy stylish easy… sexy :) for all body types.

A problem I used to have was misunderstanding what "matching clothes" really meant. In other uses, match means the same or identical. In clothes. It just means complementary or opposite. I'm 65 and learned this about 15 years ago

I respectfully beg to differ. I find most of these combinations pretty mundane. I used to follow this color path for fall, but as color and light begins to fade from my outdoor environment here in the Midwest, I feel the need for color to brighten my own personal "landscape", as it were. So while I will probably stick to mostly earth tones and blue for pants, I plan to go with brighter accents and more contrast on top. A medium gray pant is better offset by a cranberry sweater than a burgundy one, in my opinion. I'm also going for a mix of pattern this fall, to add interest, in a way I hope achieves a sprezzatura vibe.

Hello John. I’m a long time subscriber and have a question. Your video titled “ 5 *incredible* Color Combos for Fall.” What brand are those brown denim jeans you are wearing? I’ve scoured The Net and have had no luck. I ended up finding a brand that I’d never heard of “Bonobos” I purchased some chinos in a color they call Java. When they arrived the color appeared more purple than brown. They fit great and the material is very soft. Nonetheless, my hunt for a dark brown pant is not over. Could you please let me know? Absolutely! Bonobos is a great place, but the jeans are from Express. They tend to rotate their stock based on season, so hopefully they still have these available. Definitely check out the website.

I think colour should be 2nd to tone. If you have a lighter tone top to darker bottom, or vice versa, you avoid the monotone look of similar shades, irrespective of colour. Once you have similar shades top & bottom you present a unified visual block. Colour & pattern become more important, and it's easier to look not-quite coordinated, which can be a confusing look. Sometimes it works and other times not. Much easier to go for contrasting tones. Brighter colours are different, and not as simple as simple tone contrasts. More of a try & see there.

Unfortunately, I look deathly ill in most "autumn" palette colors. Camel, burnt orange, deep orange, teal, and crimson are about it. Sandy red hair and hazel brown eyes are combined with deep pink Irish coloring.
