For those of us who don't have breast milk bags -- here's what I do with broth: I get any kind of cheap plastic containers, often disposable. I pour 1 cup of broth into the container and let it freeze, then pop out the frozen block of broth, loosely wrap the frozen block of broth in wax paper and store a bunch of them in the freezer in a gallon zip-lock bags. Any time I need a cup of broth for my IP or anything else, it is pre-measured to throw into whatever I need. A good choice for the plastic containers is the plastic containers that some deli meats come in (such as Hillshire Farms and Walmart). I've also used plastic containers that were used for chinese food lunches. It takes a while to freeze the broth in so many small batches and then wrap them individually, but the convenience later is worth it.

Hi Lisa, I am usually using no salt added organic veggie broth for my cooking liquids, especially when I make soup. I sauté my veggies in olive oil before I hi pressure them for soup, it really improves the flavor. There’s no need to discard the celery leaves, they are excellent in soup. I also like to use “better than bullion”. BTW, it comes in 3 flavors veggie, chicken, and beef. It keeps like forever. I add it after the soup is cooked. It’s good if you can make your own broth, much cheaper. But I’ve become lazy in my old age, lol! So I buy my broth in stores. Thanks for the tips!

I love your channel and have watched EVERY tutorial more than once. I have a tip: because my family are not the tallest people and it can be tricky to put the lid on, because it is a bit too high to see, I drew a white line across the front of the pot lid and the black lip, lining up the line, helps position the lid perfectly for closing. I used a white acrylic pen from Amazon £3.50, I also took off the venting knob and wrote over vent and sealing. May be helpful for other people who aren't blessed with long legs he he!

I wish the Better than Bouillon didn't have added sugar. Very few people actually need reduced salt but about 75% of Americans need less sugar!

I'm a new instant pot purchaser and love it so far. It was watching your videos that got me interested. Thank you! I have a lot of health issues that prevent me from cooking like I used to. While it's not exactly the same, it's a really close second. I truly appreciate your tips, tricks and most of all, truth. Hope that you and your family are okay during this pandemic.

I have two Instant Pot tips. #1: proofing dough. Place the dough in the inner pot, which has been lightly creased. Press the Yogurt button several times to adjust to Low and set the time to two hours. Place the lid on but leave the valve on Venting. After two hours your dough will have doubled in size. I keep a cool kitchen and I find this is the most reliable way to proof dough. #2: using whey: I make yogurt frequently and I like it Greek style. I use a EuroCuisine strainer and I usually get at least 500 mls of whey from 2L of milk. I use the whey as my cooking liquid for soups and stews. It adds protein and flavour. I sometimes add bouillon to the whey.

First of all I want your kitchen! LOL the bacon was interesting but I typically do my bacon on a sheet pan in the oven, but I really I never thought about the breast milk bags and thought that was a neat tip. I'll be 57 in a couple of weeks so I don't have any those. 🤣 but similarly I like to store things in the zipper type bags. For the court I use the pound coffee can and do like you did with your glass put it in but I can actually fold the top over the sides of the coffee can. For the gallon size I used the larger coffee can used to be 3 lb it's not quite anymore and again I can fold the sides over so I have a really large area to fill my bag with. I also really love your tip about just keeping a bag in the freezer for onion scraps celery scraps any kind of scraps. I've done that for years chop too much onion throw it in a bag in the freezer anything I have left corn from supper. Then when I make veggie soup in it goes.

You have to use an equal amount of liquid to rice. If you're cooking 2 cups of rice, then use 2 cups of liquid. White rice: 4 minutes manual cook on high pressure; natural release. Brown rice is 22 minutes manual pressure; natural release.
@LocalMan22

I have found that it takes some experimenting to find the right ratio of rice to liquid. Many claim that 1 cup rice to 1 cup water works, but mine comes out "crunchy." It took me about 4 tries before I finally got the rice "just right." I generally use 1.5 cups broth per cup of long grain white rice. Other kinds of rice need different ratios. So, if you used 2 cups water or broth per cup of rice and it was too mushy or soft, then try reducing it to 1.5 cups liquid, or even 1 cup liquid. Be prepared to try it a few times until you get what's right for you. Then you can use that ratio all the time. Make sure you give it at least 10 min "natural release" after cooking to absorb the liquid.
