Great video. I've been waking up with low back everyday for over a year. Walking and light stretching in the morning it would disappear completely, but would return the next morning and the pain would usually be my alarm clock. Started swinging the Kettlebell and within 1 week my low back pain is gone.

Bought this for my youngest to develop basic form for single hand kettlebell work. kzbin.infoUgkxtaDAl93XF8wxJhssTtjIFjzid82wglva It has a nice grip on it, just a little rough so it isn't slippery. I was doing a few rotator cuff exercises to test and worked well for those movements I'd been doing with a regular dumbbell. Cool thing you can do is hold it in your hand for door-knob turns to work the forearm and grip. Note: it's small, almost all handle, but that's what I expected given the weight. Smallest I've worked with before is 15lbs, so it was kind of funny to see the difference 10lbs makes.

This is one of the better videos on this topic (many are downright sad and will get people hurt). However, your range of motion during the hinge seems really low. Like, your hips are staying put and your knees go forward. I thought that the knees are supposed be kept back (vertical shins are one of the cues) during posterior chain movements which would make your hips naturally go backward. If you watch Olympic lifters snatching, for example, their shins are vertical just after the barbell passes the knees, after which the hips come forward. In your video it looks like you are not exactly squatting, but you do still have some mild elements of the squat in your movement.

Hi Pat Flynn, I just start to swing recently. 15kg seems too much for me. I have tried to lower the weight down to 10kg. But I can not perform a perfect swing. Too heavy to perform a hip hinge. Do you have any pre-swing exercise/routine to help me get used to the swing? Like squat...

hello! does kettobell swing exhaust lower back?
@frankcolletti43447 жыл бұрын
Guan Kevin the kettlebell swing will work your lower back to some degree but not the same as dead lifting, make sure you Don't swing the kettlebell too low to the ground because that will put a lot of unnecessary stress in your lower back. It is important to learn how to dead lift correctly because both movement's are a hip hing, if you don't know how to dead lift with correct form you will have a difficult time swinging a kettlebell and possibly cause injury. learn how to dead lift and practice your hip hing and your lower back will thank you.

Mistake #2 is not really a mistake. It's just a slightly different exercise called the Kettlebell Squat Swing.
@frankcolletti43447 жыл бұрын
benjay14k it's a totally different exercise, if you are trying to perform a true kettlebell swing and you are squatting than that is definitely a mistake if you're goal is to squat and swing that is a totally different movement.
@patflynn75256 жыл бұрын
Well, that depends. A mistake is anything you're not intending to do. So if the goal is to do a squat-style swing, then doing a squat-style swing is not a mistake. But that is not generally the point of the swing. So if the goal is to perform a hinge-style swing, which *is* generally the point of the swing, then squatting is a mistake.
