When my son was young (he's 24 now) I let him decorate his own tree that was in his room. Between homemade decorations and some favourites he chose from our main tree, cranberry and popcorn strands etc... it was totally his creation. It may not have been magazine worthy but it was something that meant the world to him.

I haven't put up a tree in 18 years. When my kids were home I did a tree in every room. I even replaced all my wall pictures and decor with Christmas things. You have inspired me. I just moved to Michigan after relocating 3 times in 3 years from the east coast to the west coast and back. I have 3 grown boys and have not had a chance to decorate for the last couple years and would love to have a beautiful tree for when my little grandson comes to visit using all the boys vintage ornaments. If I had a tree I would put it in my library and use the wooden ornaments that my husband snd I painted for our first Christmas tree 48 years ago. Our family has traditionally cut down a live tree for the last 34 years. This year we are hoping to start a new tradition by having a new artificial tree in our living room. I would LOVE to put one up in my toddler girl’s bedroom. It is newly redecorated in beautiful, whimsical watercolor wildflower wallpaper. This room used to be our spare room and now it is her oh so girly big girl room. This helped to “promote” her from her former nursery that her new baby brother now occupies.

You can make the perfect garland for a child’s tree using children’s vintage card games. Weave bakers twine thru holes you have punched at the top of the cards. We did these and they are adorable.

I love the vintage toy theme. You could add the vintage winter sports theme as well. Skis, ice fishing, hockey, ice skates, snow shoes, hunting, snow balls, snowmen, sledding and of course Santa and reindeer.

I just finished my contract in the military and my husband and I moved to Texas. We have a little cheap tree we bought for our first Christmas together, but our new house has a huge ceiling in the living room and these giant windows. I love putting up full size Christmas trees in living room (red plaid, red, green and gold), master bedroom (white and silver), younger son’s room (mostly vintage and wood ornaments) and even the porch outside (woodland theme). Since we live in Texas, we can enjoy the cool winter weather outside throughout most of the winter. In years past, my older son has never wanted a Christmas tree in his room but this year he asked if he could have a tree in his room decorated in blues and greens, his two favorite colors. I loved that idea! Now all I need is another tree. 😊😁

Before I lost my husband last year, we had been discussing how we needed to get a new Christmas tree. Ours is over 40 years old and looks it! Sadly we never got to choose a new one as he spent Christmas in the hospital. I would put it in the living room with tall ceilings and continue traditions and memories we had together. I love the tree. I think the vintage toys idea is great. You can incorporate vintage card games and toy skis or toy skates. Can’t wait to see how you decorate their room. 🎄

I’d probably use a new tree in the dining room. You could use the skis for Christmas decor even if you don’t put them on the tree. I’ve seen people mount them on the wall with tips crossing and lights strung between them for a flat tree look where a 3 dimensional tree wouldn’t fit. I love the idea of the banners on the tree since the room has a sports theme. Another idea is small mittens if you have any knit ones that were theirs as babies. If the tree branches are sturdy enough to hold big jingle bells I always like those with red plaid ribbon hangers. But you could do a lighter/quieter version with gold unbreakable bulbs and if you want them to look like jingle bells you could paint a black cross-cross on the bottom with big dots at each end of the mark. I also like gingerbread cookie cutters strung from plaid ribbon. A garland idea is red pompom trim. My all time favorite decoration I saw at a friend’s house. When their daughter was little she found a robin’s nest and brought it inside. She took one of her little dolls and wrapped it in a scrap of white flannel and put it in the nest. It was adorable and the inspiration for the smaller walnut ornaments I made.

I would put the tree in my top of the stairway in my my front door. I’m allergic to pine, so I am all about trees that are artificial, especially when they are good looking. Love the toys on the tree and the stockings tree. Sweet.

I would use a new Christmas tree in our living room. Many years ago we had a faux Christmas tree and over the years it fell apart so for the last many years we have gotten a real Christmas tree each year. I’m now to the point where I would love another faux Christmas tree because they’re so easy to put up and not so messy. All your Christmas trees have inspired me! I think for your boys room a vintage sports theme would be the way to go.

Your inspiration trees are all so beautifully decorated…a difficult choice for your boys room. I do love the vintage toy idea, however. My dad who did woodworking as a hobby when he was younger (he’s now 87) has made wooden wagons to hold toys for many grandchildren and nieces and nephews over the years. Something like his wagon would be adorable holding presents under a tree like that from Puleo in your boys room. Merry Christmas!! 🎁🎄 If I won a new tree, I would use it in my kitchen/breakfast room…I’m a serious baker and spend a lot of time in my kitchen. I love seeing Christmas colors coming back into our living rooms..I remember spending hours at my Grandmothers house , waiting for her to turn out the lights so I could just stare at the lights and Christmas balls..She also had the bubble lights, the ones that bubbled when they got hot..I personally think color stays in our memory and the more we use the longer the memory...Merry Christmas, and Happy decorating..I would use the Christmas tree if I win in my Living room , my ceiling are 16 ft tall. I would use the new tree in our master bedroom. When my two boys were young and shared a bedroom, I decorated much like that with the “cheaper little toys” and matchbox cars. Your inspiration photos are great! I imagine continuing vintage sports and favoring blue and metallics. Use those skis, pennants, baseball gloves, boats, fishing rods, hockey sticks, whatever looks good, a blue plaid ribbon for garland or mini pennants, whatever you like.
