Lunarcide I go at night when the last showing time is on one of the days during the week, because I don't want to worry about getting a good seat or not. It's easier to go at night during the week, because then I KNOW I'll get a good seat. But every movie theater is different and depending on location and where you live, the movie theater can always be crowded. Less people seem to go to the movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. But I used to go on Tuesday's and there are barely people there. I also go on the weekdays at night, because I don't like it when there's too many people. I remember going to Harry Potter and the half-blood prince opening night, it was PACKED and we got shitty seats. So, I don't really care about a movie enough to go opening night. I find it more enjoyable if you're the only one(s) in the movie theater. But I NEVER had to go out of my way to reserve seats for a movie.
@sabinahertzum97288 жыл бұрын
Ron Moses - what are you trying to say here?? - if you have to buy assigned seating you have a choice beforehand and can see if all the good seats are reserved - if there's free seating you won't know until you get in to the theater and might have a bad experience because of that... there are some people who need special seating for different reasons - it can be a health thing where you need to sit by an Eile so you can leave the theater discretely, it can be a vision thing where you need a i sit right in the center to be able to see it all, or it can even be a timing thing where you need to come in late and leave the minute it ends... not all moviegoers are there for pleasure- for some people it's work in some fashion....

in the UK you can't pick where you sit, online you can choose your seats and ticket prices are around £25 for 3 adults where I live which is around $38 At the concession stand you have movie posters and with a kids box you get a free toy or key chain and on Wednesdays you have Orange Wednesdays where you get a code to get money off of a ticket. ODEON have a priority card/rewards system so if you get a number of points you win a free ticket and that's whenever you purchase a ticket. Then O2 Priority also gives you a discount but it rarely works

Jimcrv Piracy isn't really a huge issue here. Places are still making a killing on renting CDs and DVDs. Also, there wouldn't be much benefit to pirate a movie such as The Avengers. If you are Japanese and don't speak any English the pirated version isn't going to have subtitles, or VO.

Belgium also has assigned seating nowadays, you can pick out the seat on a computer beforehand. Here too, a lot of movies come out with several months of difference (unless a worldwide release, but sometimes up to four, five months difference IF they release it at all here.) What also bugs me is that they stopped having an intermission in the films, so if you really need the bathroom you either wait or run out the movie... And they have huuuuge amounts of snacks, like huge bags of chips, sandwiches, popcorn, salads even.... Which makes of a lot of people eating very very noisily during the movie, which I hate!

I've known people be kicked out of the cinema for siting in the premier seats and not having paid for them! Usually thought people just get ask you to move, and they glare at however was sat in their seat! Us Brits (ok maybe just me) get pretty annoyed if someone is sat in our assigned seat. I made a lady move one seat the other day cause she was sat in my seat... It was a good seat though so I wanted to sit in my seat!
@pipuk39 жыл бұрын
Luckyladybug normally the middle 3 rows are premium seating and unless you're going to a freshly released movie those rows will be empty 'cause no-one wants to pay 3 extra pounds for sitting there. If someone does say its their seat that's fine i'll move further down the row or move to one of the other two premium rows, what does bother me is when people just get up at the end and leave trash in their seat i've even picked up peoples empty popcorn Containers and thrown them out myself with my trash , try and save the poor student who has to 'come in and clean up after those adult sized 'children some hassle.

So 50% of these facts are things in Sweden... The tickets are generally about 130 kronor, which is almost 2000 yen, and may be more if the film has just been released... And if it's 3D you might have to pay to get 3D glasses, which is an extra 20kr. And we also have assigned seats! I don't find it weird, and since we get to choose seats before we book the tickets it has never been annoying. When I heard about the american way of free seating I was kind of shocked... Another fun thing is that when I travelled to Japan in June this year, you could watch the new Avengers movie on the plane... Not with Japanese subtitles, but still, I think it's a fun thing :)

Here in Indonesia, the movie tickets cost about $4-$5 (if you're familiar with Indonesian rates, it was about Rp50.000,-) in weekends, but in here it was considered pretty expensive for some people due to the fluctuation of the exchange rates between rupiahs and dollars. During weekdays it was about $3 and in some theaters you could buy ticket only for $2. There are arranged seats and you can booked the seats online too. Also there are no individual theater buildings in Indonesian, the theater itself was usually located inside a mall/shopping places. So, if you're going to the theater, you might as well do some little shopping while you're at it.

Yikes! Here in Utah, evening/adult tickets are around $10 (slightly more for 3D) and dinner is around $8 at any of the built-in "express" restaurants. Tickets in Illinois were only $8 (Hollywood Blvd) but you have to purchase at least one menu item (around $10 for a burger & fries, taco salad, etc.). So you're looking at around $18 for dinner and a movie in both places. They had IMax in Illinois but I never went there unless they had something specifically made for IMax that was worth watching. I don't think there's even an I-Max in Utah except at the planetarium and they mostly show science movies.

Christian Campbell i suppose it depends where you are. and what movie you are seeing. it seems movies are fairly cheap where i am, compared to other places ($8.50 for regular ticket). but movie theaters don't make much money, which is why concession is so expensive. personally, i think having all the merchandising that japan does would be a great idea. it would help keep theaters in business. we also have 1 theater that has assigned seating. but that was very recent after the theaters were all upgraded to reclining seats. :) personally, i like it, except that i didn't know they were doing that and i wasn't able to get a good seat for avengers. but if you get your ticket early, you can have any seat you want, which is the same as getting to the movie early, really.

I couldn't believe tickets are that expensive... I think it's understandable that the movie came out a few months later because maybe they had to translate the movie. Love your VIDEOS!!! Keep up the good work :)

I love assigned seating in movie theaters. I know of one over in Tampa, FL that has assigned seating. So when you walk in you chose your movie and time and they'll show you a screen of the available seats and you pick which ones you want. It's great. Plus that theater also doubles as a bar/restaurant so you can order food and drinks before hand and they'll bring it to you during the previews.

$18 is not expensive for tickets. That's what we pay where I live in America.

+NeoFunk Where in America do you live? O.o I went to the movies last week I only paid $5.50...
@Neoeclectic8 жыл бұрын
It's $18 in some parts of Northern Virginia close to Washington DC. Matinees on average are $10-$12; prime time on average is $15-$18; 3D about $20-$25; iMax around $30 or slightly more. It also depends on the movie.
@SouloftheWolfGod8 жыл бұрын
That's crazy! Movies in my area average about $10.50, with some theatres (like the one I went to) being less. I live in California (near San Francisco). I'd never go to the movies if they charged that much here.

Hi, In India the seats in cinema halls are always assigned. We have multiplex halls with 4 or more screens, lots of high priced popcorn, nachos. Some places have book stalls, trinket stalls & other sales areas. We also have discounted tiickets here for non-peak hours such as morning shows on weekdays, etc

Aw man, enforced assigned seating. :| A lot of theaters (SE US) lately seem to print seating numbers but not actually care where you sit... Oh! What about dollar theaters? Are there any equivalents to those in Japan?
@DESOUL30038 жыл бұрын
Our teathers all have numbered seats aswell, so don't just sit whereever you want. And the ticket price is about 4-5$ usually.

Here in sweden we have assigned seats to, you can also book seats online and later get your ticket at the counter or at a ticket machine. Booking online you can choose pretty much whichever seats you want that hasn't been booked yet and buying ticket at the counter you can just ask in which general area you would want to sit front, middle, back or sides and the cashier checks the best available places for you or your group. It is a good system.

In Finland we have assigned seating too, but the movie theatre scene is basically a monopoly. Many independent theatres (that are slowly vanishing...) either have it or don't, though. the movie prices really vary based on what city you live in, if it's day or evening or the weekend and of course 2D/3D.
@AnnaLiddell429 жыл бұрын
Assigned seats aren't a common in the rest of the world? In Argentina it's always assigned unless it's a special occasion like a film festival. There's always nice promos to use too, if you're a studen or teacher, on wednesdays, etc. No ones pays full price ever, except for Disney movies (like Avengers) on the 1st weekend, when they don't allow any coupon or benefits card at all.

only a few theaters in Ontario Canada has assigned seating but mostly it is first-come first-serve basis. although I personally wouldn't have a problem with assigned seating, I've never been in a theater that had assigned. (Canada, Quebec, US, Japan). now movie tickets cost $14-$20 and that's just crazy expensive (of course 3D & IMAX cost even more). some very small theaters are cheaper and discount day tends to be tuesday for $8 - $10.
@manci.manwlhs9 жыл бұрын
in Austria there are assigned seats as well which you can choose and reserve by phone or online. there has also been a women's day and a discount day for all. now they have replaced it with three days discount for all (mo-wed). normal prices are like 10 $ and discount prices are like 8 $
@rinrinruru17409 жыл бұрын
It's the same in Denmark. You buy and reserve seat space. Like a row letter and seat number. Like Row: B Seat 1, 3, 5 (They're divided in even and odd numbers) I always thought it was smart because then you're 100% sure you and a group of friends get to sit together at a premiere screening etc. We also have this new thing with the center of the cinema having leather chairs with tables that costs a bit more. (Not in all cinema/movie theaters). I love that you get to reserve a seat, that way you can relax and know that you get a great seat and get to sit with your friends. :)

I live in Germany and here it is just as it is in Japan. You have assigned seats and there are days called 'Movie Day' or sth like that when you get to watch a movie for sth like 7€ which might be sth like 8-9$ But usually it costs about 10-20€ depending on where you want to sit. The rows in the back are more expensive than those in the front and the middle part also costs more than the seats on the borders. Are there many movies dubbed in Japanese? Or do they always only put on subtitles?!

DO they do Matinee showings to save money??? In NYC tickets are about 18$ , 12$ most other places in NY... Texas Matinee I can find them for like 8.50$, 12-14$ evening regular. To answer your international release date question, it's different for every region but the most basic things I can assume are Release Dates are assigned 2 years in advance, sometimes more, and big companies market and target when films would make more money in specific regions. So July 4th weekend, Thanksgiving weekend, the week of Christmas, First week of Summer, are the really competitive weeks in America, but maybe not in your region... Also they may tweak it if another big film is coming out a week before so they delay it enough so they won't be competing. Example: two kids animated films, the families will only take them to see one of them, so wait till next month to release the 2nd film or try and release it one to two weeks earlier. Sometimes they also wait for releases in other regions to gauge how well the reception will be in another region. Finding and agreeing on a price with a certain region distributor may come into play; as they may not think it will do well in their region or blah blah blah. I know some regions it's more profitable if they think the movie will flop to sell it outright where other regions it may be more profitable to do a ticket percentage. TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read) ... finding maximum money returns!

I know the struggle of having to wait for a movie to come out. I live in Norway, and it can take several months for a movie to come out here after it's released in America. like Moana, which comes out in Thanksgivings for Americans... We Norwegians have to wait till February. I don't remember when Finding Dory came to America, but we didn't get it until the end of last month... But the seat arrangements are pretty common here too.
