One of my neighbors ripped out their real marble floor from the entry, the short run of stairs to the kitchen, dining area, guest bathroom, laundry room, breakfast area and hallway to the garage. They replaced it with grey ceramic tile. They were ‘updating’ everything, sold it to another couple who also ‘updated’ everything and it recently sold to a man whose business actually contains his initials and ‘flipping LLC’ in the name. Before they moved in workers were already working on repainting the recently painted cabinet doors as I saw them working outside. I have made changes to my home, but not to sell it and move on. I don’t understand wanting to deal with the disruption and expense to change something that you won’t ever enjoy. I understand refreshing things just prior to selling but 8 years of constant hammering, power tools and contractors is tiring. You are never going to please everyone who is interested in purchasing your house and spending several hundreds of thousands of dollars seems pointless.
@nogames89823 күн бұрын
I agree. I’m not doing any more updates to this house unless it’s something that I personally want. I don’t care about resale. I hope to live in this house till I die. If I have to sell it, somebody else will probably come in and change everything anyway, so they can do it on their time and their dime.

9:24 I knew this one was coming 😭 please make a whole video about working with gray floors! My husband and I just bought our first home but alllll the floors are gray. They are brand new so it's not our priority to replace them right now.
@BobbyHutchison-d1k3 күн бұрын
Good idea for a video!!!! I hope Garrett does something more on this. I think gray-colored wood floors are hideous. I loved how he had some great pointers on working with gray floors. But a whole video would be fascinating to watch on this topic because it's a problem for so many people. Thankfully I do not have gray flooring, but I will be looking for another home in a couple of years and I'm really hoping to avoid any place with gray flooring. But so many people have already put them in. 🤮 This is a source of anxiety for me.

@@nitamccall9289 That's great to know. I hate them with a passion. I'll be house hunting in 2-3 years and I'm terrified of finding an otherwise great place but that also has gray floors. I'm googling to find examples of ways that people have made them work. I've had a lot of anxiety over this, so your comment gives me hope.

I don’t know a single person that put in gray floors that actually like them now. Not one. I’m sure that some people like them and that’s good for them, but I hate them. I always have. I hung curtains to replace old broken folding doors for my closet, and I love the ease of use - but I also had to buy hooks to convert them to pleats. All the difference in the world! I appreciate the link to reasonably priced window treatments as well. I really need something for my kitchen windows - they currently get stuck in that stupid connector area & I have to use a utensil to open and close them. 😡 But they replaced broken disgusting plastic blinds that were so long they bunched up about 3 inches at the bottom, so…. Using this video as inspiration and excuse to update! ❤
