Hi guys,
Here is a quick traction alopecia update and how I have grown out my bald spots/traction alopecia using 5 simple steps that are essential for maintaining natural healthy hair!
5 Power Tips to Grow Natural Hair ⤵️
1⃣️ Shampoo
It seems obvious, but how often do you have a wash day?
I ensure that I wash my hair with sulfate/paraben free shampoo every single week.
There will be the odd occasion when this stretches to two weeks, but my hair sure nuff tells me it’s long overdue for a wash.
I have also found using a shampoo massage brush has made a massive difference. The bristles stimulate the cells within the scalp, increasing blood flow, which promotes hair growth and prevents hair loss.
2⃣️ Deep Conditioning 🙌🏾
The holy grail of natural hair care. I deep condition on every wash day, no exceptions with the Aphrodite deep conditioning cap that has just been working wonders for my hair.
If you can't get your hands on a steamer or conditioning cap, turning your hot nob on full blast and letting the bathroom steam up while you’re in there for about 20mins will do the trick to get that much needed moisture in your hair. It also helps to raise the cuticle of the hair, which means that products/ingredients are more easily absorbed into the core.
3⃣️ Moisturise
Need I say more, my kinky coily natural hair relies on moisture for so many reasons. It is key for maintaining natural healthy hair. To prevent breakage, promote retention, easier manageability and have softer hair. It most def is a must to say the least!!!
4⃣️ Trimming
I have to admit it’s not something I do often, and it would be easy to avoid especially when you want your hair to growth (why cut
it right) The benefits of trimming include fuller, healthier ends, less breakage, and length retention. Once the hair starts growing back, it’s still important to have a regular trim for these benefits.
5⃣️ LEAVE IT ALONE
Need I say more, the great thing about our hair is versatility, so we can do so many things with it, and experiment with different styles.That being said this comes with a whole heap of pros and cons especially with bald spots.
I’ve avoided any kind of tension or pulling on the hair and just let it be.
Sometimes your hair needs to have a breather to allow it to grow, protective styles like braids wigs and weaves put a lot of stress on the hair over a prolonged period of time so make sure that you take a break from time to time.
I prefer having my hair out through all seasons and I seldom protective style, I’m now just used to me and my kinky coily curls.

I had a huge bald spot because of a weave, scalp massages with a mixture of olive oil and castor oil helped a lot. A year and some months later I have 5 inches of hair where that bald spot was. Great tips.

“The more you trim your hair, the more your hair grows” is not true. Trimming has 0 effect on hair growth. Trimming can, however, help you to retain length because it gets rid of unhealthy ends that would have contributed to breakage.

Hey...i have those bald spots also. In the exact same spots. Dermotologist told me it was ccca alopecia that turned into scarring alopecia. She told ne that my haur would never grow back. Recently starting using an oil i get from a lady on you tube and my hair is growing back after 5 years of being bald!!! I also take biotin capsules 5,000 mg once a day and pumpkin seed oil capsule1,000 mg twice a day, scalp massages twice a week. And also trimming my hair and washing and deep conditioning weekly. Its really working. It takes about 3 weeks to see some hair fuzz but its working!!

I recently discovered a small bald patch near my edges . My edges are quite fragile and during this quarantine, I was also studying for my finals . So I think that contributed and I would wear my hair in cornrows but change it every week, My hair is very long. But I think maybe it was the fact that I kept changing my cornrows . I usually wear my hair in braids but , I’m just going to oil the patch everyday and wear my hair in loose single plaits for now (no extension). Thank you for the advice

I have a bald spot and recently I’ve been so incredibly insecure about it. I’m always getting looks idk if it’s bc of my bald spot but i feel so insecure. I’m pretty sure my bald spot came from stress, and hair pulling. I put my hair in a low TIGHT ponytail every day for years, which caused hair loss. Hopefully once I try this, and it works

Okay. So the hair on my parental ridge has never grown in length compared to the sides and top. I have done so many hair styles whilst using relaxer and even even When I went natural 6 years ago but it always stays the same length. If it grows, it breaks off. It never bothers me much because the length there was still ok to give me a normal head shape. December last year I cut my hair, bleached and got a bomb red wine colour. No changes in that area, hair was still same length there. To also mention, I had birth control pills for 4 months to control a heavy flow I had (gyno's recommendation). But as time went on I started noticing a thining and my hair line going in and it tingles when I touch both spots. I have ignored it for a while as I didn't want to start being stressed again.(I have anxiety issues). I have finally accepted that I'm balding for probably various reasons and will see my doctor in 2 weeks to get an analysis. It took a second cut to actually see how bad it's getting. I literally have a shape V line from top. I hope my hair grows back even if it takes a year.

would you recommend box braids to help grow back the bald spots?
@ChumaSoko
@ChumaSoko 6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't simply because of the tension created from braids. I do know box braids are bigger and so less stress on the hair but in the first instance I would just let the hair breathe for a bit and allow for daily stimulation on the bald spots. I hope that helps.

Good tips! But, did the products that you used in the first video, for your alopecia, worked for the 30days? Or did you change products during the process and/or after the 30days? Did you see progress after 30days or more?
@ChumaSoko
@ChumaSoko 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristena, thanks for watching. I used the shampoo for more than 30 days however the conditioner/mask didn't last too long as you can imagine and I didn't buy a new tub. I found that the products were great to help with my alopecia at the time and have used the shampoo every so often on a wash day. I hope that helps 😊

Hi, great vid 🙌🏾. You talk about leaving your hair alone and not to comb it especially through the bold spot. But as a man growing an Afro who works in an office, I need to comb my hair 😂. Could you suggest a protective style or daily routine where I won’t have to comb my hair everyday please? Thank you.

Hey Daniel thanks for watching, I'm not very familiar with Men's protective styles however I recommend checking out @wolfganglisborg on instagram, he has amazing styles that I'm sure you would be able to consider, for example the high or low bun look and four braids down depending on your hair length. Let me know how you get on and I can find some other Men's pages for you to check out 🤗

I'd say find an organic natural shampoo that contain tea tree, peppermint or hemp oil, as a base, these are ingredients that aid hair growth along side the usual ingredients we see in natural hair products. Just ensure they have less chemicals that would potentially cause more harm.

How long does it take for hair to start growing back?
@ChumaSoko

it really depends, hair tends to grow a bit faster when protective styling, my hair took about 4 months to see growth cause I usually leave it out.
@tristris4416
@tristris4416 4 жыл бұрын
Chuma Soko hair doesn’t grow faster while protective styling. You may retain more length because you aren’t experiencing as much breakage but the rate of hair growth doesn’t change.

Hey Aryanna, sorry to hear about your hair. I'd say take a look at the cause before finding a remedy in this case as you may find that it reoccurs, could it be stress related, a change in diet or routine? a number of things cause hair loss. To help with hair growth check out this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2SqdpWlotWel5I) that helped me grow back my bald spots too, but I do recommend seeing a professional if it becomes serious. 💞

@ChumaSoko
@ChumaSoko 6 жыл бұрын
thanks for watching, in this context I am referring to traction alopecia (caused primarily by a pulling force being applied to the hair.) I didn't band my high puffs correctly and that's how I got the bald spots. Alopecia areata is believed to be an autoimmune disease, which could be due to genetics or stress related. This isn't my case here. I hope this helps 😊
