@rustytr What model Toyota? You didn't specify. I've seen more broken down Ford F-150's on the side of the road than anything else; and I'm not talking about the older ones; I'm talking about the newer ones. Since you wound up getting a Ford, you should have grabbed the F-250, that's Ford's real thoroughbred. That truck is a champ, about as reliable as a Tundra. The Camry is lighter, again reliable, but not very rooted to the ground but is great on gas. I dont think it is fair to make sweeping statements on any, you need to maintain both, regular oil changes etc l, watch out for noises, don't drive them like racing cars, get small problems fixed on time and you should be golden with any car. I had a 2011 F-150 XLT 5.0. I will say I loved the front seats. But, I had NOTHING but quality problems with drive train bearings, 4 wheel drive actuators components, heater blend door motor failure. Had rubbing noise up front when cold. When the transmission shifted to 4th gear in the winter there were 4 times I thought the whole rear end fell off the truck. I Got rid of it at 67,000 miles before transmission failure. I had to press legal action to get ford to honor their drive train warranty on the 4wd Actuators (A $650 dollar repair). I won in the end. No more Fords for me. I have had my 2016 tundra 4x4 SR for 1 year it has 22,000 miles on it. There have been NO issues with this truck. The 5.7 has incredible power. The transmission shifting is so smooth and much better than the ford. The gas mileage is only slightly lower in reality. That's a small price to pay for a quality drive train THAT WORKS AND HOLDS UP. Reliability is a factor that so many of the reviews give little attention to. They are all about specs and options and base price. What about resale value? The Tundra definitely has that going for it as well. I have total peace of mind with this vehicle. Ford does not offer THAT option! I love The Tundra!

Toyotas are the best you will love it. I may be biased but there's a reason they're so reliable is because they don't really change too much on them. Every year almost every other truck brand changes something with the engine. They don't have enough time to perfect it. The tundras engine hasn't changed since 2007. Yes it may not have the most horsepower or torque as other trucks but its enough for a half ton. They've had 10-11 years to perfect that engine and I feel like they pretty much have. Some guy a couple years ago put 1,000,000 miles on a tundra and toyota gave him a brand new truck so they could tear it apart and see how well the truck held up for 1 mil miles.

Google 2017 Toyota Tundra Diesel go to "images" Ullman see it there, don't know if it is a concept or else but they said would be in the market after the Detroit intl auto show, starts at 72k 😣

You are right on my friend. I bought a brand new 2002 Tundra Limited and drove that truck for 351,000 miles with zero problems. I changed the oil myself every 7500 miles with Royal Purple oil and K&N Gold oil filters. I towed a 7K pound travel trailer with that truck all over the western US with no problems. I gifted it to my stepson for $1 when I bought my next truck, a 2017 RAM 3500 Diesel . I had been waiting for Toyota to produce a Cummins diesel. We just upgraded from our travel trailer to a brand new 16K pound 5th wheel and Toyota offered nothing for me to tow it. The RAM has been spectacular. I will always love my old Toyota Tundra.

Bought a 2015 base model Tacoma 5peed, 4x4. Was looking at a Tundra, loved it, but decided that I didn't need that much truck for what I do in life. I don't tow anything substantial, just my 78' pop up camper. It's great off-road and gets decent gas mileage. I've got headers, exhaust, intake done right now. Gonna hopefully be ordering a supercharger kit from URD here in about year or so.

Came from my 2002 ford f-150 king ranch. My f-150 had just cost 3K in repairs it was worth 6500$ at the time. Right afterwards it needed more repairs. I just couldn't keep doing it. I purchased a 2017 Tundra last February for all the exact same reasons. I previously owned a Tacoma and wanted bigger for towing. I seriously wanted at V8 Ford but like you got totally frustrated with building what I wanted AND finding it on a dealer lot within 200 miles of my home. I gave up and went with a Tundra because everything I wanted and needed to tow was standard with the truck. I view the "no changes done" to the truck design for many years as a guarantee of continued reliability.

For your doors close? If so you're a step ahead of me and the 2017 F-150 that I bought. It has a known issue with the door latches and cables freezing and I've now spent more time in a loaner truck than the one I actually bought. If Ford can't get the doors to open and close then what can I expect down the road with the other moving parts. The worst is that every time I start up this loaner 150 I have to see a "Built Ford Tough" animation come up on the two video screens. Who are they trying to convince? At least the 2018 loaner doors work. They ought to just trade me out...LOL.

Yup, and that is why I would never buy American again. My very first car out of high school was a brand new Dodge Neon. The neon spent more time with the mechanic then it did in my driveway, and from then on I switched to Honda and then Toyota, and I never looked back. You cannot beat the quality, yes my Tundra eats SLIGHTLY more gas then a Ford or Dodge, but I will pay the extra 500.000 a year in gas to have a long term reliable vehicle!

Hey Mike. Another Portland guy here. I see this video is almost a year old, but I just purchased a one-owner 2008 Tundra 5.7 Limited TRD with 105,000 actually from the same dealership you purchased yours from. I was looking for awhile for a used model in excellent shape with everything I wanted at a decent price and local, not from Canada as most used 4x4's are. I found this one and was enamored at the value these maintain when taken care of. I spent almost as much as you can get a new F150 for and I actually feel like I got a great deal due to the reliability factor that Toyota always brings. This truck stickered at 44K and change in 2008 and it only depreciated about half of that in ten years!!!! Awesome Awesome truck and I can guarantee you will be able to do the same with that truck in another ten years. Great videos man. -Luke

After owning two Tacoma"s a 2015 & 17 ,I bought a 2018 Tundra TRD four door. 2018 did not produce a factory Tundra Pro. I wanted another off road truck as I'm in the Agriculture business. So, I built one! I added the front sway bar to reduce roll, added the Pro dual exhaust kit kicking up the horses. The TRD Pro Skid plate. But the best thing I did was a 3 inch lift with after market Black Rhino Armory wheels and 35 " Wangler tires. After consultation with four wheel parts they fixed me up with the Fox Shocks all around, "World of difference" now this Beast is better that the Pro and rivals my Raptor in the dirt. With all that additional add on expense, it was still $20,000.00 dollars cheaper than the new Beer Can twin T V6 Ford. I"ll keep my 6.2 ltr V8 22 gauge steel Raptor Thank you very much. Although I don’t own the tundra, I do have a Toyota Sequoia which has been the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned. Out side of brake pads, tires, and normal fluid changes it has needed anything. It has over a 100k miles on it and doesn’t have a single squeak, rattle or knock. I’ve towed with it a lot, snowmobile trailers, boats, utility trailers. The only downside that it has is it’s thirsty, but it makes up for it but staying out of the shop and not troubling me with recalls all the time. Overall I’ve been really impressed with it. @@Bc._Media Yup! and they have their original engine to! A lot of their parts are still original. If that ain't a reliable truck idk what is. (P.S. I see you everywhere you must watch a ton of youtubers lol)

Scott Mccauley anyways... my dad just got a 2019 sequoia TRD sport and it’s awesome🤟🏽 the billstein shocks makes the truck/suv drive so smooth! And it’s pretty reliable with its 5.7 V8... i can’t wait to start modding it and swap it out with the trd pro Fox shocks and some nice 35’s... the only down side it the gas mileage but who cares about that when you have a reliable suv that’s very simple and also cool at the same time! Plus the sequoia is pretty rare😅

The F150 is my dream truck but hey, I think you got a great deal bro, looks like you made the best decision.

I bought a ford f150 2 months ago. Im really impressed and extremely happy with my new truck. I changed my honda ridgeline for the f150 and the change is drastic. Ive got friends that have the tundra and they are extremely happy with their truck...BUT...they all complain about the same thing...the tundra is a gas guzzler vs the f150 which is very economical in gasoline consumption. I do agree that toyotas are built solid. I had a 4 runner and that thing doesn’t die.
