To be clear, these trucks are ASSEMBLED in USA. With parts from overseas vendors. I like Made In USA as well as anyone and I served my country in the Navy. But I will go for automobiles made in JAPAN. When we can make a better, more reliable and sturdy vehicle like the Honda or Toyota, I will gladly buy it.

@rustytr What model Toyota? You didn't specify. I've seen more broken down Ford F-150's on the side of the road than anything else; and I'm not talking about the older ones; I'm talking about the newer ones. Since you wound up getting a Ford, you should have grabbed the F-250, that's Ford's real thoroughbred. That truck is a champ, about as reliable as a Tundra. Good luck with that turbo charged hairdryer in that F-150 man.

I am not American but I live in the states and I own both Ford Taurus and Toyota Camry. The Ford is more comfortable, very reliable (engine and tranny both going strong) but sucks on gas mileage. The Camry is lighter, again reliable, but not very rooted to the ground but is great on gas. I dont think it is fair to make sweeping statements on any, you need to maintain both, regular oil changes etc l, watch out for noises, don't drive them like racing cars, get small problems fixed on time and you should be golden with any car. My Taurus has 150K miles on it and the Camry has 36K miles on it.

My next truck will be an F250/350 Diesel. My biggest complaint is the location of the high failure rate parts such as the starter taking 8 hours to change but at 350,000 miles, that original starter really lasted a long time. If Toyota offered a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel truck, I'd buy it over the Ford.

Hi great video, I have a 2018 TRD off road as well. There are some complaints about the truck getting long in the tooth but no one touches the reliability of these trucks. I love having the option to turn off driving aids like lane assist or parking assist. Finally, the best reason is NO auto stop or cylinder deactivation which is forced on buyers by other makes. Cheers and take care.

I think you will Love your Tundra. I have a 2014 SR double cab 4.6 ltr V8 2wd with 112,000 miles and I feel like I’m just now breaking it in. The payload on the 4.6 2wd is actually larger than the 5.74x4 because of the vehicle weight. The 4.6 is as quick, some say quicker, in 80-90 % of driving situations as well. Either way, you made the right choice for all the right reasons. If you level up the front end, match custom 18x9 +18 wheels with 295/70R18 tires, tint the windows, add a step up rail, and tint the headlights, and get rid of the badges and stickers you’ll have an absolute badass dream truck, in my humble opinion. Congrats!

Diymike, I totally agree with you, especially when every option pushes you up a trim level. I love Toyota's, but I bought a new '08 Nissan Frontier 4.0 V6 4x4, and it's been problem free. I did make a mistake and bought my wife a VW Jetta, and payed dearly. Finally traded it for a new '17 Toyota Camry. If I buy a full size it'll be a Tundra, though I prefer the column shifter, it's out of the way, and you can seat six. Reliability is tops over mileage, power or gadgets.

juan cacer The US market won't let it sell it here unless factory installs a Cummins, International, or something that breaks often or competes and wins. Look at this review, I own a 2006 F250 diesel cured, cured means I had to spend 7k to make it run and still have many components known to fail, I don't have the money to change it now but will do in the future. Google 2017 Toyota Tundra Diesel go to "images" Ullman see it there, don't know if it is a concept or else but they said would be in the market after the Detroit intl auto show, starts at 72k 😣

I purchased a 2017 Tundra last February for all the exact same reasons. I previously owned a Tacoma and wanted bigger for towing. I seriously wanted at V8 Ford but like you got totally frustrated with building what I wanted AND finding it on a dealer lot within 200 miles of my home. I gave up and went with a Tundra because everything I wanted and needed to tow was standard with the truck. I view the "no changes done" to the truck design for many years as a guarantee of continued reliability.

Toyotas are the best you will love it. I may be biased but there's a reason they're so reliable is because they don't really change too much on them. Every year almost every other truck brand changes something with the engine. They don't have enough time to perfect it. The tundras engine hasn't changed since 2007. Yes it may not have the most horsepower or torque as other trucks but its enough for a half ton. They've had 10-11 years to perfect that engine and I feel like they pretty much have. Some guy a couple years ago put 1,000,000 miles on a tundra and toyota gave him a brand new truck so they could tear it apart and see how well the truck held up for 1 mil miles.

I bought a 2007 Tundra 4x4 Crewmax with 67k miles two years ago for 25k and it's an amazing truck for the price. I looked at both Ford and Chevys in the 2007-2011 year range that fit my budget and they were no where near as nice, big, powerful or quality as the Tundra. Looking at the interior of the other trucks compared to the Tundra was a joke. They felt cheap and had no where near as much room inside compared to the Tundra (disclaimer: I did purchase the crewmax). When I got in the Tundra and drove it everything just felt right. My dad who owns a $70,000 Ford F250 has said that he enjoys driving my truck more than his and would buy one if he didn't need the towing capacity of the diesel. Long story short they're a great truck with a lot of value. The only downside is the 5.7L V8 that I have guzzles fuel and gets 12mpg in town and about 16.5 freeway. However, its a small price to pay for how great of an experience I've had running this truck. If I had the chance to buy again I would get the Tundra again without question. Congrats on your truck man. It looks really nice! The front grill of the 2018 looks awesome!

A few months back I bought a 2020 tundra SX and I got a great deal on it. I had been looking at 2016-2018 tundras beforehand but they seemed so expensive compared to other trucks. I almost ended up buying a 2017 ram because of this but before I signed the paperwork I went to a toyota dealership to look at new tundras just to make sure I couldn't be persuaded. I'm so glad I did because what I found was the 2020 tundras are almost the same price as the 2018's because they depreciate so much less than the other brands. The ram that I was going to buy was $49,000 brand new and was selling for $28,499 at the time which is a huge difference. In contrast the 2018 tundra that I looked at with the same features as the ram was selling for $35,998 and negotiated my brand new 2020 down to $38,000. To me, knowing the difference in resale value between the toyota and the other brands sold me on it big time

I had a 2016 Tundra Crew Cab SR5 4x4 5.7 and it was a great truck. I paid 36k for it and sold it a year later with 10k miles to a whole sale partner of Kelly Blue Book for 35k. I got a great deal on it and put nicer wheels and tires on it but even with that the resale value on it was amazing. I chose the Tundra for many of the same reasons, the Tundra has way more features that I value for the price compared to the F150. A similarly equipped F150 was about 5k to 8k more than the Tundra at the time. Many of the statistics are skewed because Ford sells a ton of fleet vehicles and Toyota does not. I am a fan of the F150, I had one for years and it was a great truck. I also loved the Tundra, only sold it because I needed a car more than a truck. Great choice though! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Get a TRD supercharger!!!
