Did you make any changes that produce results? I did the 5:2 plan, but as 4:3, for three months and got pretty much nowhere. I would usually do one true fast each week, and I would have up to the 600 calories allowed for men the other two down days. For a few weeks, I thought my problem was eating too many calories on my up days, and I really was probably eating too many calories, but when I rectified that, I still didn't lose. I was severely constipated, as I usually am when I'm trying to lose weight. I thought that might have something to do with my problems losing weight, so I added a daily dose of Miralax, but even that barely worked. I recently started on Farxiga, so I increased my water intake. In addition to more frequent urination, I noticed that my constipation started to improve. I rarely feel thirsty when I am fasting, but I am now seriously wondering if I just wasn't consuming enough water. This video makes total sense about constipation and the log jam in the liver.

Yay, for one such as me, an exercise lunatic and food nazi. Yay, my immune system is KILLING MY THYROID GLAND, oh yeah, the seat of my metabolism. I used to be like a hummingbird. Unfortunately I find myself in this category. I am a menopausal 53 year old woman and I have been OMAD for years but not always eating appropriately, I home cook so there are plenty of good meals but in the last few years as an empty nester, restaurants are called upon more than before (once or twice a week). For the last 7 or 8 months I have been much stricter with what I eat - growing micro greens now - and take about 11 supplements a day so I was prepared for this fast. I don't own a scale but I did take my measurements and am using a shirt I use to wear as a gauge. I am on day six and there have been no results. I do lemon/salt water in the morning along with a few supplements and then just water the rest of the time. I am averaging 2.5 litres and occasionally have a cup of coffee with monk fruit. My hunger pangs are minimal with no cravings. Other than a pounding heart that I resolved by adding more sodium, things have felt quite normal. I have never had a slow metabolism nor am I experiencing constipation. I have relatively low stress and get about 6 hours of sleep a night. I am at a loss here. 20 years ago I was able to lose 67lbs on the low carb diet without fasting.... What can I do here?

For those with Adrenal body type, which is also my body type I tried intermittent fasting I went from 16/8 to 20/4 to Omad and my belly fat or the weight didn’t come off because 1 I wasn’t eating enough calories and also I was too full to fit all the calories I need in a short open window 2. Adrenal body type is all about stress and when the adrenal is not functioning well intermittent fasting is adding more stress to it hence why no weight loss 3. The only way to lose the weight and the belly fat is eating 3 times a day and exercising, not more than one hour remember too much exercise is also stress. I've been obese all my life. I exercised like crazy always trying to battle the bulge. So ladies, if you're going to have children, your kids will be a byproduct of what you consume. I only have 3 more days to complete fast. I have lost about 3.5" in belly and 3" in chest. Just wondering if I am in ketone buring phase why isn't more fat being burned. You are describing someone who is hypothyroid- fasting is known to increase stress hormones, and when that happens, metabolism is increasingly surpressed. I had been on the fasting bandwagon on and off for 5 years, and although initially list weight with fasting, it all came back and then some, especially with a vengeance when I was practicing OMAD. I am hypothyroid due to autoimmune hashimoto's thyroiditis. I do not recommend fasting for the majority of people who struggle with hypothyroidism long term, as it will damage your metabolism even further.

Yes! I was IF for 20:4 and 21:3 for 1 month straight. Also worked out 4 days a week for 1 hour and ate anywhere from 1500 to 1600 calories on a vegan diet with zero results. Literally no weight lose…so this is helpful as I have been known to have low vitamin D and Iron…

Did you make any changes that made a difference? I have been doing modified fasting 3 days a week for about 3 months and getting nowhere. Constipation has absolutely been an issue. I recently started on Farxiga, so I increase my water intake. Interestingly enough, the constipation is starting to improve. I decided to take a week off from fasting -- wasn't much point during the Memorial Day holiday anyway -- but when I resume this week, I will see if my increased water intake makes a difference. Dr. Berg makes a whole lot of sense in this video about how constipation can stall weight loss.

@@Tes7000 Im learning that fasting for women is much different than men. when I stopped fasting during my monthly cycle or changed my eating window to 16:8 or 15:9, this helped to expedite my weight loss results. I started off fasting 20:4 and 21:3 for 2.5 months straight with no breaks in between. This aggressive approach sent my body in complete shock because I was also eating fewer calories than I actually thought. I had gotten to the point of not being hungry anymore and would sometime even go 24 hours. I also started to loose my monthly period. Once I did more research I learned that fasting during your period impacts your hormone levels and weight loss results. Dr. Mindy Pelz helped me to understand the importance of switching your eating window before and during your monthly cycle so your body does not work against you.

I have lost 12 pounds in 7 days on a water fast. I didnt lose much within the first 2 days but it got into high drive after. However, I cannot sleep. I toss and turn all night and probably get about 2 hours of sleep before I have to get up. Funny thing is I dont feel tired when I get up. Weird.

I think I have a very slow metabolism. 16 hr fasts just don't do anything for me. Even if I just eat 3 days out of the week (W, Sat and Sun) I only lose about 2-3 lbs a week, but if I do alternate day fasting or anything less than that, I lose nothing. I may try the bile salts or some of the other nutrients to see if it helps. I am not constipated and I think I generally get enough sleep, it's just not continuous sleep since I have to be up at weird hours.

What am I doing wrong, eating just makes me feel unwell too. Ok I'm also struggling with sleep, I am unconscious for 8/9 hours but I wake up with a headache every day. I'm drinking keto aid (5 cups water or herbal tea of choice (1.2 l) 1/2 cup lemon or lime juice (120 ml/ 4 fl oz) 1/2 tsp potassium chloride (see Tips for alternatives) 1/4 tsp sea salt or pink Himalayan salt - 1/8 tsp if too salty 2 tbsp Natural Calm magnesium supplement (12 g/ 0.4 oz) 1/4 cup powdered Erythritol or Swerve (40 g/ 1.4 oz))daily and having mct in a morning with my coffee

I've lost 9lbs so far (on this from strict carnivore so won't be water loss), blood pressure is fine and my BG is 60 mg/dL so technically hypoglycaemia but do not feel faint or dizzy...my ketones are at 6.6 mmol/l..... electrolyte supplements and sea salt are a must....

@@malvinasarjveladze9824 I'm perfectly fine now. I have enough energy to work out everyday. My window is 6 hours eating and 18 hours fasting. I do take my vitamins and don't have any hair loss or stomach problems. At the end you might be right about this short amount of time, but I don't really feel it with IF. To me it's just a natural change and we're in a serious condition as covid is a big problem especially for obese people. I got it 7 months ago and it hit me hard. Dr Berg you’re the best!❤️ Please consider a video not keto. LCHF no sugar/no grains, mod protein. Some people out here😉at a good weight & exercise routinely but cutting all sugars/grains for health & reduction in inflammation (joint/muscle pain) eating only complex carbs from veggies (salad/broccoli/cauliflower) & higher healthy fats from avocado/olive oil/grassfed butter/wild salmon/wild shrimp/pasteured eggs/tempeh-rarely. Postmenopausal on HRT. I cut sugars/upped fats but at same time, added fasting 14-16 hours/2 meals. I’m waking up wet w/sweat but this is not typical hot flash stuff. I think it’s tied to either sugar reduction, fasting or both. I don’t think I’m in ketosis because although my carbs are just nuts, veggies (highest carb being carrot), occasional raspberries, kombucha, they’re still way too high to fall under the required 20g. Mine are 50-75g. Isn’t this diet/lifestyle where people head after hardcore keto? Or after you’ve lost 5-10 pounds on keto & now you want to maintain with LCHF? THANKS 🙏
