And it wouldn't have happened had others never said that to me. My self confidence took a massive boost and I was able to start healing from my past. This is hard!! You cannot be compared to other. You are different and that's great! If there's anything to take away from my experience, is that perfectionism is a very unhealthy mindset to have. 3:35 you feel past mistakes are the equivalent of a real life danger. First time I ever actually let this sink in when it was put this way. I have probably heard it on different occasions but it didn't take hold. Keeping this appropriate to the situation is a struggle when I hear this topic. I put up walls as a kid to protect myself from chaos in my family of origin. If I made a mistake, the first assualt was emotional, if that didn't get to me, it escalated from there. We eventually fell into a pattern of me not getting dinner. I literally put those walls up to this day as if I am fighting for my life when I am in survival mode. On top of the abnormal two years there has been other issues going on that had to be dealt with. I have been in recovery for many years, I always find a new way to climb up the spiral of getting better. I just pray these walls have not cost current connections with people.

I used to struggle with self love. I was born male and being praised as a handsome boy never sat well with me. I wanted to be a girl from the time I was five. But I was in denial about being trans and just sucked up male puberty. I still never loved myself nor thought I was attractive. It affected how I interacted in relationships. Eventually, after suffering a really bad heart break, I expressed to a friend that I want someone to love me. She told me I need to be able to love myself. Eventually, I realized I don’t love myself as a guy. So I began HRT and am finally living full time as a girl. For the first time in my life, I genuinely love myself.

As a recovering perfectionist I can tell you that starting something imperfectly is always better than perfectly doing nothing. You have to learn to REFRAME situations as if advising/cheering on a friend. Eg hey that's great you've started a new project instead of saying what do you mean you haven't completed this perfectly yet? ... Hope that's helpful :)

I like this a lot, thanks Hannah, I would like to add the expectation level we put on us while doing something on the first place, that paralyzed the s***t out of me. Setting high expectations leads to unsatisfaction when you don't achieve your goals, and in fact that is something we can't control. So it is better totake things less seriously, enjoy the process, have fun while doing and don't overthink the result.

And don’t worry better people will always come along after toxic people exit.(ps: I still find it a little hard to say no but it does get better with experience and a good way to know when someone is being toxic is saying no because they will always pressure you to get you to change it to a yes)

I was always taught that giving myself any sort of consideration at all was selfish and tearing the family apart. This went all the way down to expressing an emotion my mother decided I shouldn't have. I was coerced into doing things that effectively destroyed my life, and any hint of pushback was taken as me being violent and aggressive. Apparently when I got punched in the face that was because I deserved it, but when I pulled a face that was me being intimidating and trying to manipulate people. As far as I am aware the only thing I really did 'wrong' as a child is outsmart my father, and not be the same personality as my mother who considered me to be her pet.

I got most of them, but you got me with number five 4:05. I second guess myself and struggle to follow my own intuition. I'm confident in saying i dont think it's because I don't love myself - but because i was raised on a rocky structure, and i know it. Just integrating another point of view - absolutely great video!!

I definetly didn't loved myself. After I watched this video, I can see, that I am making very good progress in loving myself. Now I can see, that this things were a part of me, but mostly not anymore now. In most times it's hard for me to see that I am successful in my therapy. A video like this let me see clear, that I am "growing".

I have every single one. I loved myself when I was young but as soon as I hit middle school, everyone hated me and bullied me and followed along with a sudden tragic death of my pet (my best friend at the time), sent me into a deep rut that lasted years. Then they finally went down in 11th grade and now I’m 19 and I’m back in it. And now I constant hate myself to the point I avoid looking in mirrors and I live inside my mind.

Self love is overrated. I can work and make GDP w/o loving myself. Usually I've got criticism for everything I do. And people have the same issue that and they don't know solutions but they criticizing mine solutions all the time. So I cut myself from society and I'm rather better alone. But there is the constant criticizm from the society. It makes impossible to love myself.

Even though I had a good childhood and mostly had caring and loving people around me, I always struggled with the lack of self love and with self-loathing. I feel like I have no right to feel like this, which makes the self hatred even worse. I joke about me, my insecurities and my struggles on the daily and I just can’t get away from it.
@ReaperEnd3 жыл бұрын
I definitely struggled with self love at one point and still do to a point. I constantly threw myself down for everything and if we go off the list (which I know isn't the universal know all for everyone) I've hit all the points at the same time for awhile. Thankfully I'm a lot better at self love now even with occasional struggles. If there was anything that I could say to people who felt the way I did, I'd say that with as hard as self love seems now it does get better eventually. If you struggle with that voice in you that's beating ya with the past mistakes and memories fight back. All those mistakes and things in the past taught lessons right?

I surely have the third to fifth signs but personally I think the fifth one sucks the most. Everyone believes in me but I can't even trust my abilities and it is an ongoing cycle of questioning my worth
@wolfie-_-ranger79323 жыл бұрын
I still have a lack of self love, but I’m learning how to be a little more selfish about my health. But I’ll tell you the experience with not loving yourself. Looking back at it, you really don’t care for yourself, you don’t care what happens to yourself, so you try to help others as much as you can while you secretly suffer. There’s also a fear of anything you say or do will make people judge you, and for me, I didn’t want to be judged the wrong way. In the end, it was because my friends were selfless to me that I actually learned how much I was pleading for help. And for others who lack self love, don’t be afraid to embrace who you are.

I don’t know where to start. I keep messing up, one minute I’m content with myself next minute I’m feeling so many emotions and crying alone in my bathroom. My mind never stops it just goes and goes with negative thoughts and majority of the time I feel like I don’t deserve good things in life or good people that are around me.

Yeah I do struggle - and the way I seem to find help is with my therapist which I encourage to do. My advice is to make an effort for unfiltered conversation with your doctor, that yes, life is messed up and you are asking for help to figure things out. The past can easily cloud the future if left unchecked. Dealing with this issue made me realize that I struggle to attune to the present, leading to bad habits and excessive procrastination. That triggers the inherit paranoia that nothing and no one in life is a fall back. I struggle to trust myself, but I trust that the effort in changing this sate of mind will lead me somewhere better. Happy New Year x

Thank you for letting me know these signs! These made me realize that I actually did not love myself. I've said sorry whenever I felt I was wrong or I wanted to cry. Additionally, I punished myself a lot just simply because I got a C in my exams, did not study hard enough or I wasn't well-informed about these fields such as science and technology. If I didn't watch this video, I would never change my thought and never treat myself properly. Thank you so much!!!

I’ve dealt with 4 and 5 since I was young. I always have. My parents love me, and my life has always been good, so it’s difficult to say why I’m like this. It might have something to do with the constant bullying that I experienced as a little kid, but I think it mostly has something to do with the over perfectionist side of me who hates it when I make the smallest mistake. If you’re also like this, trust me, tell someone. It might be hard to properly explain it, so think it through and do whatever you can to clearly get your thoughts out. Once at least someone understands what’s going on, it all won’t get better immediately, but it’ll be easier in a sense that they know what’s going on with you and you won’t be dealing with this completely by yourself. If you’re not ready or you don’t think anyone will understand, that’s fine, but don’t just keep it bottled up or it will only become worse

Oh man... this was actually useful. I behaved weirdly at school and I have problems on being serious... I have a funny nature, but I can't stop making jokes, staying with friends or near cousins. I sometimes think I'm giving them discomfort. I just wanna be the world's friend, and to have a normal nature again. You ABSOLUTELY deserve a new subscriber.
