Learning how to draw tubes by breaking it down into cylinders only made it all more complicated for me. I ended up just figuring out ways to short hand it. I remember study over one drawing where they pretty much drew bananas for the fingers and thats when it clicked, I was like, oh this shit doesnt even really need to be so technical. Im not the best at drawing them still but they are my favorite to draw.

Yeaaah, I was never the box and cylinder guy. 😅 I was way too eager to just jump into the good stuff. It worked out though.

Yeah me too... But, I have to say drawing tubes and other geometric shapes has helped me a ton with visualising form in 3D space ,which ,in turn, has helped me out with drawing in prospective and even drawing from imagination. TL;DR it may be difficult but I think there's value to it

What I love In your videos is that you mostly simplify everything, as a person who have a short attention span- this is very helpful! I also love how you go to the detail immediately. Also your voice is so comforting! I watched plenty tutorials but most of them focus on the shapes and not the muscles. I love your works too! So keep going and I hope you get seen more

This is a genuinely exceptional level of teaching. Your ability to make complex shapes suddenly seem 'seeable' and understandable through truly original and innovative analogies, tricks, and tips is amongst the best I've seen. There must be tons upon tons of tutorials on drawing hands on KZbin, but this video - this video right here - is the most helpful I've ever seen. Thank you so much. Please keep posting because I'm sure you will grow a massive audience one day if you keep putting out content like this.

On tip 5: I always, always, always need to be reminded of this, and it does not help that every drawing video in the world is sped up. I am constantly being shown video of someone doing a full piece in eight minutes that would normally take a couple hours, while they merrily prattle about some pointless drama in "the KZbin community" involving people I have never heard of. I have to remind myself that not only have they got the video on 15x speed, they have trimmed out all the blank spots, and that voice track was recorded separately.
@joshuatomlinson92846 ай бұрын
It was so simple yet. So profound. I've been drawing and illustrating for decades now and always had trouble with hands at different angles and how to make it look like the thumb is actually connected to the hand where you go from that joint. At the tip to the rest of the hand. It was always kind of wonky and just was watching a few minutes of this video. It broke something open in my head and made everything make sense
@figaroismycat8 ай бұрын
This helps way better for different artstyles than all the other more technical solutions. And I might've used a variant if this method subconciously for a while since it just made sense. Also a reminder to not make the hands too small, they're usually big enough to cover half the face.

♦️ At first I told myself that I need to learn how to draw hands as soon as possible. But in the end, I felt that I need to lower my expectations because as long as the form looks like a hand, even though it is messy. Then it can still be seen as a hand regardless. It's like, I'm prioritizing hands when I can't draw the body properly 😂 You said you're not that good at hands but those are already good drawn hands. 🫡✨ Ohh and yes, I do merge those two fingers, it doesn't look stiff when you draw four of the fingers and it's just easier
@emiliodekureart8 ай бұрын
Yess, exactly. I feel like the attempt is better than the result. As long as you're trying intently, then it'll all add up in the end. And thaanks. 😊🙏🫡
