Rev hang actually refers to when the RPMs fall slowly when you press the clutch in (between shifts). You are experiencing a lack of engine braking, and that is because the ECU keeps the throttle open slightly even when you let off the throttle.

That's actually a very technical and better explained process of whats happening. I hope to go a bit more technical into the issue in a video soon. Thanks for the comment!

I have a black 2015 turbo. I painted the chrome wheels black with black textured paint out of Home Depot ( it has silver sparkles in it). I found the high beams were ok but the low beams crap so I only changed the low beams with Hid set up. I have the rear round reflectors but now with led run/ brake/ flashing lights. I have just painted the front and side grey body molding with said black textured paint same as the wheels. I changed the gear knob with a black carbon one. And have put colored led lights in the cabin. I agree if you get on it hard in corners and hit a uneven dip in the road it can become unsettled a bit but nothing major and I fly around in this little car. The bulbs are a pain in the ass too get too but so was a VW Passat Turbo Diesel I had once. I LOVE this car and have surprised quite a few cars on the road.I made the Kumo Solus tyres last as long as I could but now have Michelins on it and the grip is SO much better and quieter.Mine is an auto where's I always drove stick, but let me tell you I Love the AUTO. It shifts linear smooth and that's just in drive . Put it in sport mode and it really does move out. My dealer is always trying too get me too trade it in on the new one and even though I like the thought of 74 bhp extra over my 201 , the 201 for the roads and cops where I live is plenty. I don't like the way Hyundai has somehow taken the more aggressive look of the older model and sanitized it in the newer model. Only things that pissed me off was the rear hatch button kept breaking( im on my 3rd this one has been revised apparently) my rear back up camera went cloudy, the A/C switch and one of the interior lights. Also I wish it had a full sized spare wheel and not a stupid fix flat kit. I believe mine was one of the first turbos? But the bottom of both doors looked dented at the bottom when the sun hit it but they were smooth? Anyway Hyundai fixed it under warranty. Even though this might sound a lot this is now a 5 year old car and I still LOVE it! By the way my brother had the vitamin c NAV model and he loved his but it was dog slow compared too the Turbo. I personally would not get the Nav .The car runs on Mobile 1 with a K+N filter and I attached actual exhaust tips through the LARGE HOLES at the back so the exhaust fumes don't get trapped and actually exit the rear of the car.👍

Rev hang for sure. Downshifting hardly slows you down without having to ride the brakes around turns when driving “spiritedly” haha. And power... cars similar such as the focus st and the golf gti make great numbers for their size and weight. Hyundai could’ve and should’ve made the engine much more powerful to compete with those other cars. Still love my 2014 VT, great and fun car for the low price tag for sure.
@Chayness
@Chayness 5 жыл бұрын
I can't complain a whole lot on the VT considering the price comparisons to the other cars but I agree with you on the whole "more power" issue haha
@nickstearn4418
@nickstearn4418 5 жыл бұрын
Hyundai didn't make the velosters more powerful for a reason... when that car hit the market Hyundai was also making the genesis coupe which came in a turbo model... if the veloster was more powerful than what it was it would blow the doors off the genesis and Hyundai wasn't going to have a cheaper car that was faster than the genesis... that would hurt the genesis sales

I don’t have these complaints with my 14. Yeah turning the traction control off does make the car drive better but if I rev the engine a little extra say about 2k I get a nice clean start with TC on. I backed off the clutch switches and my rev hang is greatly reduced. My Buddy’s G35 has rev hang though. It’s just a car thing. I drive hard and still average 27mpg. On a long highway trip my average is 32-33. I can get 22 in the city which means grandma can get 25.
@Chayness
@Chayness 5 жыл бұрын
Yea you could do that but having to rev 2k to engage is excessive. It shouldn't even be close to that. Rev hang.... it's a new thing because of emissions so I get it but it's something that will annoy some enthusiasts. Fuel isn't horrible but this car has some of the worst MPG in their segments, and sadly it gets worst with mods for some.

im not gonna lie, when i traded in my 8th gen Civic Si (fg2) for a 2017 R-spec, i thought i was gonna have a much more exciting driving experience due to it being boosted and everything. But after driving this car for over year i came to realize that my Civic felt like it had way more power at the top end... With the Veloster it just falls flat on its face at high rpms... i guess nothing beats the feeling of popping vtec! Still love my R-spec btw don't get me wrong lol. planning on doing a couple of mods to it soon as well as a tune so hopefully that fixes my issue i have with the car.
@Chayness

After driving the car for 4+ years, I can make a lift of my own: 1.Really should have FOURTH DOOR to even out the car and make things more practical. 2.The infamous front BUMPER SAG(due to plastic pieces that hold the bumper to the car which seem to break rather easily)3.SIDE MIRRORS(I am only 5'1" and these mirrors cause dangerous blind spots for someone of my height).4. turbo lag and DRY SUMP in corners(any enthusiastic driving in corners will cause your car to NOT go....play with the throttle responsibly). 5.Realizing Hyundai should have built the 1st gen with all the performance in the second...

For the price you do get quite a lot of features for the car. That alone, for me, justifies the original price. But you'd be surprised how big of a community there is around these things and a decent size of it focuses on performance over looks. I’ve got a 2014 tC and I’m thinking about trading for a VT. They remind me of the tC but much better 🤔
@Chayness
@Chayness 4 жыл бұрын
I won't lie. Being in a tC and even a supercharged one.... the VT is a lot better platform. Just make sure you know what you're getting because if your goal is high HP numbers or something "fast", The VT won't be that so easily or at least, not cheaply.
@BedazzledChanclas
@BedazzledChanclas 4 жыл бұрын
Chayness that’s the one thing that bugs me about the VT. The DCT can’t handle a lot of torque and the manuals are kind of hit or miss in terms of reliablility. The TC can handle a little bit more and makes it a good candidate for a turbo kit 🤔
@Chayness
@Chayness 4 жыл бұрын
@@BedazzledChanclas You're right about the DCT but i've seen plenty of Manuals and DCT's handle 400HP no problems. Granted, on a manual you may want to add an LSD but no one is going past that number right now in the VT community and if you're shooting for more than 400HP, you're looking at the wrong platform all together. Even than, to get a VT to go past 300HP requires you to have an upgraded turbo and pushing past that, you also want to start building the block. Not too familiar with the tC but from my experience, the engine doesn't do very well stock pushing more than like 240. Things may have changed from when I remember the tC but just saying.... you'll be better off with the VT as a platform unless you want big numbers.
@BedazzledChanclas
@BedazzledChanclas 4 жыл бұрын
Chayness the second gen tC blocks handle up to 350 and the manual transmission stock clutch max out around 300ish lbs of torque and the autos max out around 280 ish. I didn’t know the DCTs could push that much with them being a dry dual clutch and all

I'd buy the manual hands down because I just feel like you're more in control and more mods/tuning options. You can get the DCT and the plus to that would be having ECO mode and the extra gear for fuel economy. I don't know for a fact but driving both, id say the stick probably pulls harder/ faster

Honestly, I'm sure I could come up with a lot shittier 5 things about the Veloster (sadly). But I can think do so regarding most cars including downright badass cars. If you ever edit this video you should def mention you set the bar extremely high for love and low for hate. A garage rat tuner could name more reasons to hate an STi and if you drive a Turbo Veloster--I don't believe you if you tell me you wouldn't drive an STi lol. Bottom line IMO is always this, for a near bottom of the barrel car--the Hyundai is pretty sweet. But given it's still a 1.6T, we all wish they could've pushed it a little more.
