So at 4:55 you get intro again. Apologies for that. Editing error on my part. I'll let it stay up as you didn't miss anything but me recapping what I already said. But since you missed it, "Leave the world better than you found it"

Having been a DN for a couple years now, you pretty much nailed it with this video -- it's all about freedom. Aside from being able to live wherever you want, not having to put up with bosses and office politics is a wonderful thing.

The not having a boss thing is high on my list. lol. appreciate you taking the time to comment.

What is the most effective client acquisition technique or site you use? I've been trying upwork and have been majorly disappointed. Considering just cold calling or doing meet ups to network until I have enough clients to travel. p.s. running an internet marketing agency, so it's not one time projects
@Minoritynomad7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say "best" but I know what's worked for me. It starts with being the best at what you do. I mention that because it seems sooooo many internet entrepreneurs have no concept of their competitions ability to outshine them. MASTER your craft. Then be out there. Make sure your brand is your identity. When people think of black travel in the industry they think of myself and a few others like Oneika the Traveller and The Blog Abroad. Because we live our brands. Next, be present. Meaning you need to be where people are looking for internet marketers. And the reality is, you're competing with companies that have full teams and massive budgets. So why should anyone hire you? If you can't answer that in 15 seconds, you aren't ready. I'm not a fan of cold calling. It's easy to dismiss. Hell, I get 50 emails a day trying to sell me something ir get me to promote a service. Most barely get 10 seconds. But if you walk up to me at a show, meet up, ir event, you'll at least get a pitch in and your card in my hand. People need to stop all this "hacking" bullshit and get out there and meet people. At least 70% of my clients came from meeting in person or word of mouth. I've worked with clients that had no use for me at the time but just wanted to work with Erick because they liked me. Good luck. It's a tough game but as long as you are ready to be broke AF for a couple years and work harder than you ever have, you'll be fine.

How often do you go out when you travel? Like out to the club and bar scene
@Minoritynomad8 жыл бұрын
+B-Eazy it kind of depends on where I'm visiting and when. The honest answer is rarely if I'm in a place I know like Bangkok, Budapest, Bucharest, or Santiago. But if I'm someplace I only visit rarely like London, I go out a couple nights. If I'm on assignment, never unless it's part of the job.

One other thing I'm curious about, what happens if you get really sick or injured in a foreign country? How does insurance and coverage work? Are the hospitals and doctors normally up to par?
@Minoritynomad8 жыл бұрын
+B-Eazy For me, I have travel insurance but tend to pay or of pocket for most things. I rarely get sick at all but when I do it never a costs me more than $100. If we're talking about comparing hospitals overseas to the ones in the US, the overseas hospitals are far better. No diss to my peoples in healthcare but out here we can afford to pay for the best of the best.

Minority Nomad Is it as simple as the healthcare costs being cheaper in other countries? From hearing your video about the costs of U.S. domestic travel, it sounds like we're getting price gouged for just about everything. From what I've read, even the internet is much better and cheaper in many other places.
@Minoritynomad8 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say price gouged. I would say from a cost benefit analysis we are FARRRR behind the rest of the world in a lot of things. The cost of high-speed internet alone makes us look like fools. The average American uses about 2GB of data a month. Which I think has to be closer to 3 or 4. What does that cost? TMobile is About $50 a month for 5gb of 4G. In Thailand, you can get the same plan for about $15 AND your phone automatically connects to thousands of wifi points around the country so you aren't using your data. From a healthcare standpoint, I don't know enough surrounding the reasons why it's so high in the US. What I do know is for less than $100 I was given a GP exam, Blood work, another consultation, and medication in a hospital that looked like a damn resort. And I seriously don't need to go into airfare. Now THAT'S where I think price gouging is happening. Especially since the big American Airline companies tried to sue so Norwegian couldn't come into the U.S. and basically take over. Which their doing.

what is the difference of being a digital nomad and an entrepreneur?
@Minoritynomad7 жыл бұрын
+Money Pac I think in many case they work together. I would say most Digital Nomads are entrepreneurs but most entrepreneurs aren’t digital Nomads. I also know some digital Nomads that aren’t entrepreneurial at all. The definition of a digital nomad is constantly in flux. For me, I believe a DN is someone that lives and works remotely. Traveling for extended periods of time. And entrepreneur......well is an entrepreneur. Lol
