This is especially important if the shot was at an angle or too far back and ruptures the stomach, intestines, etc, in which case you'll want to rinse out the inside of the body cavity to get all the contamination out.

That's the same way I was my first hunt. I had to take a bite of the deers heart. One thing you do learn is to appreciate that deers life because you took it to feed your family. I always rub the deers side and thank him for his meat that will keep 3 lives going till you need more deer. It's about the respect you give the animal that you just shot. Seems strange but it's the truth. No one wants to take a life. That deers life ment something.

I grew up on a farm 75 years ago and went to the woods every day with a BB gun when I was 7 years old and spend the day by my self. I still like to do that from time to time only with a little bigger gun. You seem to realize there really is a God when you are by yourself with nature.

1. You want a caliber with enough power to drop the animal where it stands (hopefully). People think hunters are just ruthless killers, but like anyone else, we don't want it to suffer. 2. You shoot it, you dress it. That's the rule. It helps you learn to appreciate your kill. 3. Rabbits don't count. Period. There's no sport/effort required. Walk to up a rabbit, grab it by the head, and give it a quick spin around. The head pops right off. Then a quick squeeze on the body and all the innards pop out. 4. Females are generally off limits because you need them for breeding. One male can fuck all kinds of deer, but one female can only get knocked up once. Besides, there's no trophy to be had from a female. 5. Learn to enjoy the silence. This is something everyone, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN, need to learn. You're old enough to remember a time before technology and I'm sure you're old enough to remember having to learn to just be bored. It's good for your mind. Love your style of comedy. Keep it up.

2:02 this is so true. rabbits & squirrels are the "I didn't get any kills while hunting" leftover kills. these are the animals that hunters get when they didn't get anything else so that they have something, anything to eat that night.... only deer, boar, bear, elk, or moose count for actual hunting kills. every thing smaller than a deer or boar are just what's called 'stew' meat... racoons, opossums, rabbits, gophers, squirrels, nutria rats, ect...

A nap in the woods is the best nap you'll ever have. You can feel the stress and the worries of the world just melt right off you. After a good 5 or 6 hours out there, even your hearing, smell, and eyesight changes. Hard to describe but it's like your senses adjust. I usually have the best night of sleep afterwards too.

I am a firm believer that if you are a meat eater you should harvest and field dress and cook what you harvested at least once whether wild hunted or raised specifically for slaughter. It gives you a much better appreciation for the meal on your plate and for the meals to come in the future.

You are hilarious. But seriously, dressing a game after hunt is really prudent. The innards start rotting as soon as animal is dead. So, it only makes sense. You don't want to bring that crap to home or even laying around in the truck bed. And as someone said, everyone should enjoy the silence. These tough talking city folks will not survive in the countryside during a SHTF scenario. They don't know what surviving is. The middle America country folk will run circles around them. one thing you can do for communication while hunting is have your phone and make sure everything is on silent and if you need to talk, type it out and hand the phone to your partner but make sure that everything is silenced including your typing. also! never take a shot unless your partner is a wear you're taking a shot.

I field dressed my first deer with my dad at three years old. The heart is good for making jerky, throwing it away is a waste. I sniffled once when I was hunting with my cousin who is much older and still hear the story of how I made him miss a huge gobbler (male turkey). That was 32 years ago.

Could be an unlikely scenario, however, the point of this simuntion exercise is to handle ANY situation thrown at you under some stress. Problem is, when you suit up with sims, a trainee can take several scenarios before they realize they arent always required to draw and shoot. Understand when your suiting up and loading up, you're expecting to use it.

9mm is .35 cal. most ideal hunting rifles are .30 cal. 9mm is actually pretty big although 9mm parabellum or 9mm luger are not ideal hunting rounds.

one thing is you actually do form a bond while hunting, yeah you gotta be quiet but you still get accustomed to each other on a different level. there's a lot of trust in taking someone hunting with you. You trust them not to shoot you, you trust them to keep an eye where you can't see. When you have a hunting buddy it's someone you can call and say hey I need help and they will be there. The blood in the face is a tradition, kind of a right of passage. Funny stuff man, never seen it from other eyes before.
