That's because the divorced man her sister wished to marry was married when she was in a relationship with him. As a constitutional & church monarch, she can't allow that scandal. Her son, the crown prince, then had a choice to marry any lady actually but he chose an engaged/married woman/divorced (the exact status was vague) a.k.a potential scandalous suitor. She didn't predict the massive scandal bought by Diana & Charles marriage/divorce. So, after so many years, she allowed her grandchildren to marry on their own account. And Charles too. So let past be gone. Sure we hate what they did to Diana but then again she tragically passed away for years now... I say we, the normal human being just need to bury the hatchet on this & move on. Not just from the British Monarch scandals but also from the former Queen Elizabeth. World has far too many apocalyptic events for us to talk about this over & over again.. But that's just me.

Remember hearing a story of how she had a great sense of humor as well. She was walking on near lands with one of her assistants when two American tourists came up to them. The tourists did not recognize her. They started talking and asked are you from around here, she said she lived in London but had a holiday house just over the hill (Balmoral Castle) "Have you ever met the Queen" Elizabeth said no she had never met her, but her friend had. The tourists became excited and started asking the man questions about her, went as far to ask her to take a picture of the man and them. They handed the Queen their camera and took the picture, her friend suggested they take one of him and her (the Queen) together as well, the tourists did The Queen later said she wished she could be a fly on the wall when the tourists discovered who was in the picture

@@aprilevangelineeriksson9174Queen Victoria was proclaimed Empress of India on 1st May 1876 and the title of Emperor/ess of India alongside that of King/Queen of The United Kingdom / Great Britain and Ireland, continued in use until the Independence of India in 1948. The title was used as officially the royal houses of India remained in post and owed allegience and fealty to the British Crown and formed a key part of the administration of British India. Large parts of India had, up until the British led conquest, been ruled or at least dominated by the Mughal Emperors and their defeat led to calls for the British Monarch to be declared Emperor of the Empire of India. (As opposed to of the British Empire as a whole). There were suggestions made by Victoria herself that she should be made Empress of Britain Ireland and India to match the royal status of the German, Austrian and Russian monarchs, but this was deemed to be too controversial in Britain. The idea of an Emperor or Empress being counter to the notions of a constitutional monarchy restrained by a Parliamentary government. Disraeli, who was the Prime Minister at the time managed to persuade her only to use the title Empress in relation to India to avoid trouble at home.
