Can confirm, my wife is Filipino and while it is rare, there are people that get mock crucified. It's not just one guy. There's other people that try it too. Also, they do hey joe to white people because it carried over from greating "gi joes' during WWII. America fought along side the Philippines against the Japanese. 1947 the United States gave independence to the Philippines. Independent for the first time in around 400 years. The US bought the Philippines from Spain in 1899, after 333 years of being conquered by the Spaniards.

Filipino here. Self-flagellation and flogging is a part of Lent tradition here in the Philippines. Devout Catholics do it as penance, or to share in Jesus' suffering (according to the Bible). Some even go as far as to crucify themselves on an actual cross, but just tied down on their wrists and ankles. Some actually do real nails though. It's pretty normal in many cities here in the Philippines, but even as someone who lives here it's still pretty terrifying to watch.

I had a teacher in middle school from there and told us about it..I even heard one story where one guy from there that some heath related thing happened to his child and prayed on helping his kid through it and when things went well, every year he went through this showing his respect for helping his child out.

I live in Ft. Wayne IN (the location of story #5). & i won't lie, my blood ran cold when i heard my city's name here & now. Luckily, a quick google search shows that the killer was identified and arrested in 2018. His name is John Miller, and he is now serving an 80 year sentence after pleading guilty. But perhaps more chillingly, i discovered that he was at the time living in the small town of Grabill, Indiana before he was caught. A town my family frequented as a kid, since in the fall the town has their fancy version of a county fair, held in September every year. i also lived in that town while going to college. And according to the wiki entry, he was a former Walmart employee. Whether he worked at the one in Maysville area or Coldwater wasn't said, but i definitely visited both occasionally in that time. There is a good chance i may have crossed paths with this monster before he was arrested, and that is perhaps the most chilling fact of all...

I don't know how cops ever get the guts to be able to tell a parent that their kid was not only murdered, but that the sicko also violated them. I don't think I could ever inform a parent of such a thing, but of course the cops have to be honest an up front. I don't know how they don't puke just at the thought of having to give a parent the worst news they could ever hear. Can you imagine?

Police are amazing but i promise its hard for them heard many stories of cops throwing up at sites or having to pass off the news telling because they couldnt even speak of what they saw. Cops need regular therapy

Thanks Joel, for some that don't know my father passed away Tuesday, his funeral is tomorrow. My heart was so full of pain and sadness that today I hugged my wife Stephanie and cried in her ams, for me to hug her that was the comfort that I needed.

As someone who grew up in a religious household, I can honestly say Easter was way darker and scarier to me than Halloween. The whole thing is about a guy getting brutally tortured and executed because he was seen as a threat to authority, even if he did end up rising from the dead. The lead up to the holiday always had this grim energy to it, with the bloody Jesus statues in the church and stuff. I also watched the Passion of the Christ at an age that I probably shouldn't have watched it 💀

Isn’t the point of Jesus being crucified so that people don’t have to hurt themselves in repentance… ya know, because he was THE sacrifice to end all further sacrifices? The fact that people do that is so bizarre, because that kind of defeats the whole purpose of what he did to try to replicate his suffering. Idk man. It doesn’t make them sound more dedicated, it sounds more like a cult. Also, to get technical: the nail goes through the wrist, not the hand. The nail will tear through the hand because of all the body weight straining against one of weakest points of the body. The nail being put through the wrist is part of what makes crucifixion so painful- there are a bunch of nerve endings/connections in that point of the wrist 😣

I'm from the Philippines, I was only mildly aware about the crucifixion reenactments. I saw it on TV once as a kid where they nailed the hands in full view, mean kids at my school share gorey details about it to scare others including me. Man I despise the culty aspects of this country.

Regarding Dana Ewell having his family murdered, my parents lived right down the street from them at the time. That Easter, us kids and all the grandkids came over so they could hunt Easter eggs. We never heard or saw a thing. It was freaky to hear the news the next day and find out the family was wiped out right down the street.

Gloria Sullivan’s murder sounds eerily like Beverly Jarosz’s (1964, Cleveland OH), right down to its continuing mystery. That they’re nearly 20 years apart makes it more unsettling.

Filipino here. There are those who pledged to have themselves cruxifixed yearly.The craziest one I've watched is this cosplay Jesus who got cruxifixed in a somewhat not solid cross. I mean, there is the vertical pole, and two horizontal woods, one for each arm, attached by nails to the vertical pole. Imagine it. When the guy got cruxified, the cosplay Romans then lifted the cross to make it stand. That's when the lefthand wood's attaching nail collapsed, making the wood fall, while still attached to the guy's hand with the nail. The weight of the wood slashes his palm almost by an inch. Then the Romans put him down. Crazy thing is, they didn't stop. They fixed the cross and continued with the cruxifixion.

I liked all these Easter horror stories! I feel bad for all the innocent deaths in this video!☹ I can't believe Dana would have his own parents killed! Why would he do that to them? I, also, can't believe Gloria's own father abandoned Gloria! Why would he do that to her? I bet Dana's girlfriend broke up with him, after what happened. God bless the innocent deaths🙏. If possible, I would go back in time and try to save all these people from getting killed. I'm sorry for Gloria's mom and Patrick😔. Patrick died the same day Gloria was killed? I thought he died the same year, too, until I listened that he did, four years later.

Funniest part about the guy opted to allow himself to be put through that. Jesus was NEVER nailed to a cross by the palms of his hands. For the VERY SIMPLE FACT that his hands would have NEVER HELD HIS WEIGHT. It was THROUGH HIS WRISTS. So, he ain't even doing it right. 😂
