@@elyk87 Their jokes and roasts are much more tame now compared to a few years ago. I have been following them for a long time and they definitely have made a lot of effort to talk about viola in a more positive light. But you know... "chassez le naturel, il revient au galop". I mean, even back when I was in orchestra in high school, like 14 years ago, it was common to roast the viola players.
@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia
@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia 3 ай бұрын
@phantomlogic6940 I think that's the main issue. Brett and Eddy grew up in orchestra culture where violinists and violists have been roasting each other for ages, a little bit like siblings teasing each other. Since at the beginning of their channel their audience was classical musicians, it wasn't an issue. But with their success they gained a new (and young) audience who come from a non-classical world, don't understand the context and tend to take it at face value...
@phantomlogic6940
@phantomlogic6940 3 ай бұрын
@@MissTwoSetEncyclopedia That's a good point. Even though I was a cellist, I still picked up on this, so hearing the roast wasn't a surprise. I also recall a bit of a friendly rivalry between us (the cellists) and the violinists (specifically the first violinists), though I'm not sure if that's common. We were the best sections of our orchestra, which was part of it, I think.

A professional orchestra is planning to tour different countries. Unfortunately, on the very night before their journey starts, the conductor comes down with a bad flu. They cannot find another conductor this quickly, and cancelling the entire tour would be way too expensive, so they look for a replacement within the orchestra. As it turns out, one of the violists has conducting experience. So the orchestra goes on the tour and plays concerts in various cities, all of which are great successes. Back home during the first orchestra practice with their recovered conductor, the rest of the violists come up to the one who conducted the entire tour: "Where have you been these past two months? We haven't seen you during the entire tour!"

Small suggestion, if we are doing this type of game next time, any chance to let each musician play a bit of their fav piece after answer reveal? Or at least play something together? Since you guys are trying to bring classical music to more people right, this is a good chance to let people who click in to have a taste of classical music. All jokes aside, viola is actually pretty nice to listen to. I remember going to this quartet performance when I was in uni, and the viola player really caught my attention cause he is so good. He made the viola really stand out, and he has thick vibrato, which really gives his playing a personality. Well, then when I read his introduction, he is actually a violinist, and he is a prize winner at the Menuhin competition (though many many years ago) lol But anyways, viola is a beautiful instrument, when you play it well (like all instruments).

I correctly guessed the answer from the time they introduced themselves. The viola player sounds just relaxed and the joke was quite genuine. It's the only one that makes me think it's from experience. And the person also looked hilariously offended when someone else said their viola section is better 😂😂 I also thought Brett would've guessed the same as me since he's going based on vibes. Janice's story sound too similar to the second and fourth, even sixth person. It sounds too much like indirect roasting (while also indirectly complimenting the violin). "I like viola bcs of the slack, bcs I failed violin, bcs I'm happy to be invisible, bcs we're the support for violins." The actual viola player is the one who didn't compliment the violin with his joke

Brett and Eddy. That "competition" was the most fun episode I have seen for such a while. I must note. #1. A beautiful, inifinite, white cyclorama came up so well on screen. #2. Very even and flattering lighting. All participants were shown in a very flattering mode. #3 Very good audio in a VERY difficult scenario. We were able to hear all the "victims" very clearly. #4. The set layout and interview dynamic worked extremely well.. #5. The cameras were well controlled and the live cutting was very good. #6 Your lovely "victims" were very relaxed and performed very well. I must say that the preproduction team have done an extremely good job to get this show to the very HIGH standard that we have seen. It is a fabulous concept. Congratulations to Brett and Eddy. You are so relaxed that you just go with your own instincts and the show carries itself. Please Brett, Eddy and minders and others. Get this concept rolling. I enjoyed it so much and I'm sure the other followers will agree that you will be on a roll with more of this. Thank You.

I would think a real violist would talk about the sound of the instrument. That is the reason to be a violist!👏👏

How many violists does it take to change a lightbulb? Just one, but they'll complain that it's too high for them to reach! I've been getting a bit too inspired by this video now- (jk, viola gang, we love you)

Viola gang here..Fun game! But I have a question regarding an old series: When Eddy did the Viola KIng skits and kidnapped violinist Brett, part two ends with "to be continued" ...Did they ever do a part 3?

Surely it helps to have long arms and fingers, also to play the viola? I have huge arms and a 17" viola will look like a violin on Brett and Eddy.
