The companies I recommended in this video do not hire South Africans, but there are some companies that do, I would suggest looking in facebook groups and searching on Google. I think iTutor might.

Hello! Thanks a mil for this! I am new to teaching online. I have a bachelor's & a master's degree in Theatrical Arts. I have only taught adults in person on-the-job. It wasn't English, but job skills. I did just get my TEFL certificate. I am looking to start out working parttime at home because I believe I will love teaching children & I need to supplement my other income. I am older & looking for something that I can continue into my 60s, 70s. I too am looking to stay away from the 9-5 & having to go out every morning to work. I am looking to begin with VIPKids. I guess my main concern is ensuring that I have all of the technology & teaching supplements set up in the beginning. Great suggestions! I am grateful for VIP, especially for the experience and flexibility it has provided me. I'm going to keep them for sure because I recognize they really do have a great, established platform. There are positive and negatives to all companies. Some people love VIPKid and some people don't. I am just sharing some other options out there. VIPkid is my main jam and I am able to make $25/hour with them. I know I am one of the fortunate ones but it didn't happen over night. Their pay structure suits teaching a lot of classes for them, but if you just want part-time hours, and you're ok with a bit lower pay, its a good gig.

When I do sign up for another company, I’m using your referral code. You are the most responsive person I’ve seen! Most YT peps don’t respond at all. The first woman I used for VIPKid never responds, even to emails. Just sends me emails about her travels, no mentoring at all.

I work with Qkids English and they are awesome to work with and pay very well. My last 3 months income was 1926, 1271, and 1505! I would argue that Qkids is the most flexible online teaching company. You can cancel a class all the way up to 5 hrs before class starts and it doesn’t count as a teacher absence. That’s amazing if you have kids yourself because you know emergencies are bound to happen. If anyone is interested let me know! I would be happy to help you through the hiring process!

I ended up pursuing the goal and becoming a substitute teacher instead and now working on my masters for school counseling. Hope things work out for you !!!

I interviewed with bling abc and got hired. Once I got my contract that hourly pay is tricky lol. They say your hourly rate is $16 per hour. But your teaching rate is is paid per minute. I was going to get $24 per hour but getting paid $16 per class. You have to break it down per minute. Each class is 40 minutes and there are multiple students. I was unable to take the job due to some unexpected circumstances but when that stuff clears up I think I will go to bling abc.

Yes, that's right. Classes are 40 minutes so its a bit tricky. You get a 10 minute break so its more / per minute. Potential is there though apparently!

BlingABC is horrible. You are REQUIRED to be in the class 10 mins early (while you aren't paid), and then leave feedback for the 1-4 sized classes in the next 10 mins. If you have classes back to back, then you have to rush through or do feedback later when you're not getting paid. You also can't copy the same feedback for the kids in the class. They are very tricky with the pay and it's not as much as VIPKID once you factor in being paid per minute with the requirements. THEN, they don't book you fully from the start. You will get maybe one class, which is one 40 min slot every week for a semester. You have to commit to a semester, and there's no flexibility to vacation days, plus you sign the contract agreeing that you won't teach for another company. You have a few, but your score will be affected for future bookings. Meanwhile, It will conflict with VIPKID, so then while your schedule is building up, you can't make more money using a second company. If you have nothing better to do while you wait, it might be worth it. Otherwise it could take months to have much. There are deals for proven teachers to do a block of classes for a set pay which does benefit the teacher. They were super professional during training, but, after I realized how much money I was losing after my first month waiting for classes, I tried quitting. THEN they randomly loaded my schedule with scattered classes (like the first of the day and last)and it took over a week for someone to remove them, despite sending in my formal resignation. There really is no answer why some teachers bookings have decreased but probably due to covid and there being a huge surge in new teachers as well as teachers teaching more. I am able to teach more now so I think there are just teachers who have different experiences. I hope it will pick back up for you.

Hi Tim, I'm from Jamaica and am just finding your video. I have been looking for an online school to apply to and your video has been helpful. I have been a teacher for 10+ years and online with a Japanese company. They were great, but did not pay so much. I want to move on and would like some kind of suggestion for someone who lives in the Caribbean. I am a native English speaker with a degree and a TESOL certificate. I speak Spanish, basic Japanese and ASL.

Hi Sharon! Thanks for visiting my channel :) So, as a Jamaican, you are limited from some of the big Chinese companies because they only hire Americans and Canadians. I would suggest Cambly if you wouldn't mind teaching Adults - they are a good marketplace type companies you can list your classes on.

You could take a look at Cambly. Or Outschool - they are a bit different but you don't need a degree and you can teach whatever you like!

Hi Lianne, No none require a teaching cert, but they all require a TESOL if you don't have a teaching cert. I have a link for a $19 one in the video description you can do that will work for those companies.

How come no one is relating the fact that subscription to the TESOL is $19 but then you have to pay for each additional course or exam? There are a total of 10! Not okay! I am looking to start working to get paid, not start courses to pay with money I don't have, be in debt...

Hello, not quite sure what you mean. The TESOL that I have a discount link for is $19....there are no additional courses or exams you need to take. Its $19 end of story, that's it. Please don't be paying anything extra , there is no need. I think you are misunderstanding something.

Hi, I do not know of any that I can confidently refer you to. Have you ever considered building your own online tutoring business? Or you can check out sites like iTalki or Preply in the meantime (marketplace platforms for online teachers).

Hi, please read carefully on the site when you click the link that it says "Your discount has been applied and you will see it at checkout". You need to click "Add to Cart" and you will see that it is $19. They are using a new system and the discount gets applied at checkout.

Hello! It's totally fine! We are independent contractors. It actually only helps your situation - all the companies know that teachers don't just work for 1 - we work for multiple companies...all good!

i personally think the head of teacher management at whales English is very very rude, Im Chinese, i dont like this cmpany, another company called Qkids is very similar to whale English, you may try both and then see which suits you best.

Chinese ESL companies are all closing and phasing out this week due to new regulations in China. They all required a bachelors degree, mostly. Except Cambly...they might be a good option for you. I have videos about them on this channel.
