My biggest problem is probably having way too many ideas for drawings but when you try making it, it ends up nothing like you wanted it to be.

I think the point there was not to make your things look too similar when it comes to drawing the same stuff, like she was saying with giving every character the same pose and face. With the not drawing a bunch of different things, I do agree I think that was meant more if you're going for some sort of portfolio or identity as an artist (I just draw what I feel like and am not professional in any way, so that one's less applicable to me)
@wrenbd4015
@wrenbd4015 6 жыл бұрын
no draw a bunch of things, her point was more in regards to what you post and show to other people in regards to what sort of artist you want to be to other people. its great to draw a lot and be very versatile! but know what makes you unique as an artist and use that to your advantage, your life style studies dont necessarily need to be in your portfolio

keep trying, if you stop that means you think you will never improve, and you're slowly making that possibility inch towards being 100%, and you don't want that, if you want to get better, step out of your comfort zone, make yourself practice, cuz it was hard for me to decide that i'm trash at drawing and i need to practice
@wishtopublish
@wishtopublish 5 жыл бұрын
A tip I have for that is to draw without having a clear image in your head. I like to watch art videos, or videos of people going though their sketchbook, or even videos of people talking with fun facial expressions, and then draw whats there. This doesn't necessarily help you get better at drawing whats in your head, but it helps you 1.) Get better, and 2.) Know your art style/strengths/limitations. And that will indirectly help you with drawing that mental image.

@tehprotrollboi6472
@tehprotrollboi6472 5 жыл бұрын
sketchbooks tend to have stronger paper, and try to erase in 1 direction, for example, put your hand at the bottom of the paper of the thing you're trying to erase is towards the top, then erase going from a bottom to top motion, that'll help you out a lot

I'd suggest erasing outward at the corners--if you do that--, and hold down the area where you're erasing so it's less likely to crumple.

Here are my problems: •I somewhat struggle with a bit of same face syndrome. I'm getting better at dealing with it, but it's still a small problem for me. •My anatomy (especially for dudes) is extremely boring. There's little to no variety in body shapes. • I'm not getting out of my comfort zone. I recently got my first drawing tablet, and I've barely used it. • I stay up WAY too late at night working on art (especially on school nights). • My art never looks how I want it to. • I am way too harsh on my art, especially my old art. These are just a few of my problems, so yeah. I got a long way to go.

I had "same-drawing syndrome" thing myself. I call it my "wolf phase", as I was obsessed with a certain deviant's style and subject (GimmeYoMuffinXD's Dawn Of The Wolves, to be exact), and I basically adapted a worse version of their style for awhile and I was just drawing wolves, from the same angle, same face shape, same body type. They looked decent, but looking back now... dark times. Dark times.

heisses girl256 msp - Honestly, I have the same problem too. I’m not that good at giving advice, but I think that if you have an actual idea for a piece, you should sketch it out first. Sketching it out can really help the final piece as a whole and you can know where everything will be executed and what problems it has. Also, with a quick sketch, it doesn’t take that much time. Of course, that’s with only one drawing. Hope that kinda helped :)

I try to avoid the first issue but as a perfectionist it's really hard. I also always compare my art with others and set my standards too high for myself 😟 I used to take art lessons and my teacher was a wizard with watercolours. I had trouble with staying within the lines and the water control and seeing her work made me set my standards WAYYYY too high for myself. I do know my problems but I can't seem to fix them.

Christi Don't worry, your perfectionist habits may have some downsides, but I think you'll grow out of it. Every professional was a beginner at first. But NEVER compare your art to others. Its very bad and will damage your confidence. Just keep in mind that other people who have really good art have practiced for years and years, so if you can keep on practicing, you will one day be as good as them.

But once i finish it, i kind of ‘ruin’ it by touching it up and outlining it. But all that i can think is that even if nobody else likes it, as long as you tried and you could picture what you were trying to draw it’s a good picture. Sure the actual drawing isn’t always the best, but from practicing drawing that same picture, maybe you’ll be able to draw it the way you picture it. Hope that kinda helped :D

Everyone: I can't get out of my comfort zone! Me: what's a comfort zone? I don't even have a style! I hate drawing people but I still have tons of people sketches because I want to improve on it, I love drawing scenery so I have a few of those, I'll doodle abstract when I'm bored and have no ideas, sometimes I draw random objects in a cartoonish realish way, then there are the drawing I focus on shading and trying to make it look professional

Oh god, perfectionism and drawing the same thing. That's just me. I tend to have a specific standard I hold my art to, and if the first sketch/lineart (sometimes i don't need a sketch) sucks then I'll erase it and start from the begining. Now to be fair, it sometimes actually works to create stuff I'm satisfied with but still. I really need to stop. It sort of goes hand in hand with drawing the same thing. I gotta start drawing people in better poses or backgrounds or people and backgrounds or something because it's starting to get a bit boring to be honest. I'm looking into thinking of more creative/daring stuff right after this video. But yes thank u uwu

I wouldn't say that is a good habit because sometimes you can look at better artists for inspiration. But I will say that you should NEVER compare yourself to a better artist. If you practice enough, you will be as good as them, and maybe even better! Everybody can draw well if they just practice.

well, i'll give you some tips for better analysis that'll help you keep your sketchbook intact first, watch an influx of tutorials of mistakes artists make, blending tutorials, brushes, highlights and shading, colors, anatomy, all o that, then go watch a good artist do some speed art, and see if you can find out what they are using from the things you learned, and that way you'll have learned how to draw something, and how to actually apply it

Perfectionism was the killer of my art. I got so insecure with my artwork that I actually got depressed or anxiety when I went to draw. That was back when I was 13. I'm 20 now and barely started drawing again, and I'm applying for an art school next spring. Perfectionism was my biggest issue and I'm so glad that it doesn't seem to bother me as much anymore. It feels good to draw again.

Having a series would definitely help! It'll show that you can stick to something and not get quickly bored. Also a lot of times art schools whether during application or interviews are going to ask why you painted/drew/etc what you did and for a meaning behind it.
