If earth's civilization had been far more advanced than the rest of the galactic nations and empires, why did they go into hiding? At least they should have let some AI or a small team work to advance the technology and to expand the systems and the knowledge. If they were advanced enough to have stasis pods function over 500,000 years, they can't have been at the brink of extinction from any natural catastrophe and even less threatened by enemy fleets; they would just have taken every available planet for colonization, even those who would have needed terraforming.
