The main thing was changing or repairing the front headshok which I first did some janky repairs to then finally replaced it with a more modern air fork with double the travel but it's a cheap fork so it's only temporarily on there until I can afford something better. What is the performance difference when running one battery vs both ?
@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs Жыл бұрын
Just that the bms regulates my Amp output to around 40 amps per battery while my controller can output 80 so if I want to use the whole 80 continously (I rarely do that) I need both. I've come to the realization though that running just one battery works fine and seems to be better for most situations but it is nice to have the second for when it might be needed.

If I may ask, how you lucked out with a 5000w NXT setup? Was is something custom by Alan? I can get an occasional blip to 4000W @ 72v, but sustained is typically lower.
@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs2 жыл бұрын
The higher you turn your field weakening up the higher wattage it will sustain but that also causes massive heat and I've already melted a stator from doing that too much so don't recommend it. You might be lucky and have a unlocked asi controller if you bought it from Alan and if you do if you get the computer software version of the backdoor app you can mod the settings. I've got my max field weakening turned up a bit higher then I think what he normal sends the controllers out with as their max percentage setting. I think he sends them out to where you can only put it up to 30% field weakening on the nxt controller (which tbh should be enough to sustain over 4000 watts so I'm a bit puzzled why yours can't but I'd need a bit more info on your settings and specs to figure out why yours is doing that)

Another thing I'd add to what I said earlier is I've noticed from having two of the bac855 controllers and nxt setups from Alan and ert that sometimes one comes set up completely different then the other. Your kits are limited to 2800 watts and that's completely understandable because anything over that risks damaging to the bbshd I know because I've already had to replace my stator once. But if you know anything from our asi bacdoor hacking group chat I added you to you would know we are good at pushing these controllers to there limits. Those that limit their kits to 2800watts do so in order that they don't get a bunch of upset customers who fry their controllers or motors which I can completely understand but when your like me and have full access to the tuning it's easy to do what I'm doing.

So I am running bbshd and one 52v 19.5 battery with 50amps ehat speed am I looking at if I get the bac855 controller asi ??? And does it affect my range much
@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs Жыл бұрын
Well firstly if your battery or bms only supports 50amps you won't be able to fully utilize the bac855 80+ amps of output capacity. Also the faster you go the less range you will get due to wind resistance and other factors that make things less efficient. As far as speeds go I've gotten my set up up to about 45mph but I rarely go those speeds for several reasons. Those reasons include the reduced range, increased wear and tear on every component including the motor and battery and lastly it just isn't comfortable riding any bike at those speeds. What I find myself doing most of the time is setting my max output to very low wattages on the range of 500-750watts and using my gearing to still get it up to 25-30mph while enjoying a very good range ability at those settings. It is nice however to be able to switch it on the fly to a higher power setting which is why I got this particular kit. However I don't really recommend this kit, it's a lot of money and the benefits aren't really important to me atleast

So I just gonna get the bac855 asi controller then and I should be able to run it flat.out all the time ya ?
@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs Жыл бұрын
You will only be able to output about 2000-2500watts if you try to do more your batteries bms will cut the power and you will have to turn it off then back on. For what the asi bac855 costs and due to the fact you won't be able to use it's full power capabilities I would recommend looking for a cheaper less powerful option. There is a type of controller called vesc controllers that are actually better then asi I feel and they cost way less. Their open sourced so the firmware is constantly getting better snd better and you don't have the limitations that come with asi controllers. If you do still get the asi controller I suggest getting it from a source that has tuning software capabilities like cyc or there's another company but I can't remember the name of the top of my head. Stay away from ert which is what I have as ive heard many stories of people getting ripped off by Alan the owner and he's a drug addict that straight up steals money from his customers and doesn't send them anything. I got lucky in that he didn't do that to me but after I posted videos about my equipment I got tons of comments from people who he has ripped off in the past and eventually I got the full scoop on him being addicted to heroin and what not so I would just stay away from buying from ert from what I've heard he's being sued and isn't shipping kits anymore cause asi stopped allowing him to buy from them directly.

How far can you go with both batteries connected
@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs3 жыл бұрын
Really what makes the biggest difference with regards to range is the speed I'm going. What I like about the current set up I have which is the asi bac855 controller and nxt display on the bbshd is that I can set my power from as high as 4200 watts to as low as I want it and I find that I can set my power as low as 750 watts and sure the acceleration at that power isn't as good but since this bike has 8 gears I can still manage to get it up to around 30-35mph using that little bit of power output. To go faster takes a significant amount of power and it's like the law of diminishing returns really starts to kick in after around 750watts because at 4200 watts the max speed is only 10mph faster at around 45mph but it also gets to that max speed faster and then cuts back on the watts to about 2000 watts depending on the gearing in. I typically don't use the smaller rear gears from 5th to 8th gear I find that 4th to 5th gear is the smallest I need to go to get the most efficiency out of speed and range when running the low power set up at 750watts. To answer your question running it that way 750watts with both batteries I estimate that I can get well over 100 miles of range using both batteries possibly even 150miles. I typically do a commute that is around 20-30 miles each way several times a week for a total of 40-50 miles round trip about and I've found that I can make the trip using one battery if I set the power output to max out at 750 watts so that's what I have been doing a lot lately. I don't even use the second battery very much anymore because I like not having the weight of it on the bike and it's also a rack mounted battery and the way it's mounted makes a ton of vibration noise so it's a bit annoying and makes the bike seem janky when I'm riding it. Still it's nice to have the second battery option available when I need it but I think what I'll eventually do is combine the cells from the two packs into one single 72v triangle pack hopefully that will be somewhere around 32ah.
@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs2 жыл бұрын
To answer you question in a shorter way basically I haven't been able to max out the bike with two batteries to see the max range, when you ask me what the max range on the two batteries is to me that's asking what's the most I can get while riding efficiently and not full send which is relatively how I ride most of the time and why I felt the need for two batteries. I've since switched to riding at lower power and more efficiently but when I did that I also dropped the second battery in favor for a lighter bike because it makes a huge difference not having the weight of that second battery!!! It likely could do well over 150miles with both batteries if you ride it efficiently at like 750-800watts max and using the gearing and stuff to get the best speed. I typically don't see much higher speeds when I use more power for example at 250-500watts I can eventually get it up to about 30-35mph surprisingly and when I boost it all the way to 4300watts I'll get between 40-55mph as my top speed and anything above 45 is really hard to maintain for long distances for several reasons including the motor heating up to the vibrations being insane above 50mph from unbalanced bicycle wheels and rims and tubes I mean it's bad lol I need new rims tbh I been playing with the spokes to much and my back rim isn't the straightest so that doesn't help right now.

@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs2 жыл бұрын
I run dual 52v 20ah packs in parallel with 50amp bms in both when I'm pushing the bike to the hardest but typically I don't push it that hard this was more of a test what it can do scenario typically I set my output to between 250-750 watts to get good efficiency and typically I can still manage to get the bike well over 20mph at that low power setting which is enough to keep me cool on really hot days and really that's all I care about in terms of speed I usually am not in a rush if I'm taking my bikes places otherwise I'd jump on the gas powered motorcycle for that. I am working on a 72v pack for this bike just because I had the cells laying around and I like to experiment and do stuff like building packs to learn and practice those skills. Should be interesting seeing if the performance is any better on a single 72v 24ah vs dual 52v 20ah's

It really depends I can get a really good top speed but the thing is I can't maintain that for long periods of time. I've been working on doing tuning and what not but the thing it comes down to is if top speed is what you want you really need to think in terms of raising the voltage of your pack vs the wattage and controller output. I'm still learning new stuff about this set up but so far I've gotten it to around 55mph tops and then I hurt the motor from doing that too much and really since then I haven't been as obsessed with top speed but more so with efficiency!!! What I love about the asi controller isn't even the fact that I could dump 4300watts into the bbshd when I want to bit rather that I can limit it to 500-800 watts and get some super stellar range while using the gears to still get it to a decent speed. I think also going with a controller that provides more phase amps then the bac855 does will also have a huge benefit on both acceleration and top speed but mostly it will allow you to achieve higher speeds because it will allow you the torque you need to use a smaller gear but still be able to get it to a high rpm but voltage is still the best and easier way to high rpms vs going after them via phase amps and field weakening. When you use field weakening it designates a percentage of your phase amps towards raising your top speed hence the percentage of field weakening setting. I've had mines as high as 50% but in reality after experimenting it almost seems like it doesn't have as much affect on things over 30% as it does have under 30% if that makes any sense lol. There's so many confusing tuning settings in these controllers and I'm still learning a lot of it. It's a lot different then the drone stuff I was into before ebikes.

I honestly wouldn't suggest the asi bac855 controller especially if you enjoy being hands on and tuning things yourself. Yes it's a nice controller but personally I don't like how difficult they make it to tune it on the phone app which you literally can't do unless you have a login and they don't give them out they only give the logins to resellers and the resellers don't give them out either and then to get the computer version of the tuning software is equally as hard to get but can be done without a login thankfully otherwise this controller would be almost useless as well as the bac2000 I have on my surron. Alan from ert is one of the smartest tuners with these asi controllers and if your absolutely dead set on getting one I recommend buying it from his company electric race technologies. Some other options out there are phase runners, sabovaton and my personal favorite vesc which is open sourced. All those other options do pretty much the same stuff as the asi controller does but allow users to tune them more so then the asi controllers do. Vesc is my personal favorite because it's all open sourced so your not restricted at all on what you can do with it but it's been mostly geared towards the eskate boarders community which is why you don't see it used on ebikes much but they make versions that are perfectly capable of powering ebikes and they actually make ones that are more powerful and better then anything asi sells. Trampa is a company that I recommend for the vesc controllers. Which ever you decide to get let me know as I love to network and chat with followers of my channel and also other people who are into ebikes.

Negative that's a ass hole way of thinking specially if your aware of the kind of hard work that goes into making and maintaining those trails!!!! The one I'm riding on in the pic Is paved but most are gravel and take lots of hard work to make and maintain so to ruin them by being a idiot is a ass hole jerk off move just saying cause it sounds like you weren't aware of any of that

@@SpreadingKnowledgeVlogs yea typically I’m considerate but when it comes to homemade mad max bikes I don’t care about the maintenance that goes in to it. Just rip the trail up who cares
