You can tell from the sound it makes that there is some timing in that injection pump, she is definitely nasty, I have a 99 24valve cummins that when turned up would break the tires loose in 5th gear on the freeway. I have turned it way back down now, it break a lot less parts now and it has almost 300 K miles on it. I would love to have a shop like that to work in, but this AZ boy hates the snow, probably about as much as you guys hate the heat. My Grandfather lived in Columbia Falls and I loved visiting him and tinkering in his shop, he had a full metal lathe and shop set up there at the house. It was a sad day when they sold it and moved south. We loved having them closer to us for sure. They both passed a few years ago. Family is definitely the most important thing now days and it is good to see another group that feels the same way.

I'll never forget my trip to California after I built my Fummins. Needed an oil change while on the road, so went to one of the quick lube places and told them I had a Ford Diesel. When they finally popped the hood to do the upper end stuff, that poor guys face. He seen the Cummins and looked at his paper, looked at the truck, and back at the paper. Looked at the engine ahain and started scratching his head. I about died laughing watching his reaction.

Great video, just a tip, I developed a 3rd gear grinding syncro in my 5 speed manual trans. I drained the factory ATF and installed synthetic gear lube, it eliminated the grinding syncro and made the trans much quieter, that was 150K miles ago with no issues. Can't wait until you tackle the Yukon. I don't know if it has the DOD system on it, if it does, I'd delete it! Good luck, love y'alls new houses!!!

(I'm Nick's sister) Actually, pretty early on (like around 2018), the producer for the cable reality TV show Counting Cars reached out to Nick. He wanted to do a reality TV series on Welker Farms where the guys restore Big Bud tractors. But he wanted them to do that exclusively and not even farm. Also, all privacy and media control for the Welker family would be gone. And the pay really wasn't that great. Nick ended up turning it down, and we're glad he did, as what he has been able to do with this channel has been far better on all accounts.
@chrissyfrancis8952
@chrissyfrancis8952 7 ай бұрын
@@mtcelticharper ABSOLUTELY! They’re FARMERS, not full time mechanics. Nick’s not stupid & definitely knows the evil traps of Hollywood I’m sure. He’ll never let anyone have control of the Welker name or finances. He can’t talk about it on his channel…for obvious reasons, but has made remarks that ppl like me who’re also well informed of the corrupt system of power & control understood what he was saying. And, in all the years I’ve been watching I didn’t know he had a sister.

These guys didn't just walk in the workshop & do this work, it's built upon years of taking stuff to pieces & watching dad & grandad fixing, servicing machinery. So to all parents watching, let your children take broken toys apart, let them see what's inside some of those old household appliances, keep them safe, supervise where necessary, this is how I & many other great people began their lives in mechanical, electrical, scientific engineering, just be safe & sensible & encourage curious minds.

When Scott was still in high school he bought a beater of a pickup that didn't run well. He completely tore the engine apart and rewired it. It was months of frustration for him, but it was trade school level training in the fine workings of engines that set him up with the knowledge and skills that he still has today.

When I started at a Cummins distributor in '76, EGR probes were in the manifolds. Replaced a lot of turbos when they burned off and went through them. After a few years, probes were installed by truck mfgs after the turbo. Just didn't let pyrometer get as high, 900 degrees max after turbo.
