Nice! It’s an easy install, the hardest part is installing the air relocation ducts, wiring will be very easy just match them up to the factory harness and you’ll be fine.

Looks good, im definately getting one. Looking at the setup of the buttons i kinda wish they would flip flop the Hazzard and back button. Seems like the back button would be used all the time. Cant see using the hazard button very offten. Great info, thanks for doing this video!

You’re welcome and thank you for watching the video, to be honest too i think i used the on screen back button a lot than the physical one, but you got a point on switching the buttons around. I might check if its a possible diy to switch them.

So then I’m thinking out loud , something (a switch) is triggering the front camera in the oem headunit. Play with the settings and check … yes the rear Birds Eye will work .

I played around on the settings when i first got it, i turned on the front camera but it shows no signal. This is only triggered shifting to drive from reverse, then the manual factory camera button doesn’t work, but not a big deal to me.

@@Forged_Garage I know you said no big deal but I’m eager and curious to figure it out … unfortunately I don’t own a 2020 and the runner we shipped to China is a 2017 so we make all parts accordingly , up to 2019 and I rely on some members for the 2020+ :(

@@KingSev yes it will be great if factory camera features are retained, for sure some owners will like them to work, the system definitely recognises all of the cameras because they display the video on birds eye view, for sure you guys will figure out the proper diagram for the pins

Thanks for the video, it's great! Have you played music for a while with CarPlay? if so, does music skip or have any issues? I have a different head unit from different company on a different vehicle and the music playing sounds a bit glitchy for a second or two briefly after some time of playing music

You’re welcome, and thank you for watching, no issue playing music, i use carplay spotify all the time and it plays as it should, short drive around town and 1-2 hour drives.

If you have Bluetooth setup…. Turning off the car on and off will it automatically just connect and have CarPlay ready? It seems like a LOT of steps just to get CarPlay going.

Just for initial setup, after that every time ypu turn it on it will quickly connect.

Hi! So i did used the AC yesterday for about 45mins drive and the fan is on 2 clicks temp dial all the way cold, and it performs well I really don’t see any significant difference over the vent if there’s any.

No hd radio, i did not install the external mic, the built in mic on the head unit works perfectly fine, other person can hear me fine.

My controls works out of the box, there is an app that says steering wheel, also there is another settings on setting app then factory if that you can reverse the forward and back

I haven’t noticed any significant changes, probably because i haven’t used it that much yet, and the weather only requires me to open up the windows a little bit. Probably when it got a little warmer here i can report back properly.

@forged_garage Do you have the GoPro base bolted or screwed down or is it 3M double sided tape? I have the one that bolts into the vent but I’m pretty sure that won’t work once I get this radio.

@@derekc8913 just 3m tape version, i used the original gopro branded base, i have better luck with them sticking forever, than the cheaper amazon alternatives.

Yes, factory reverse camera still works, and factory reverse 360 cam still works.

CTH sells 360 kit for it, the factory front cam cannot be manually switched on, i had to add a aftermarket front cam and controlled by the app on the screen. I will be installing the physical anytime cam switch soon.

How dim does the screen get? A fear of mine is having an obnoxious screen while driving at night. How is the airflow from the re-routed vents? Is it a downgrade from stock, better than stock?

It gets dim alright, personally I don’t like bright dash at night even when im using the stock one i put it all the way down, i used dark mode on this new one i have no issues on the brightness also having a Dark wallpaper helps. with the airflow, now that i used it for months and some rare 86F weather I don’t have issues on it, yes i noticed that the airflow is kinda affected but bothering me much because the air thats supposed to go in the middle just get re routed to the side vents making them blow more air. I remember driving on the 86F weather my fan is just on the first 2 lines.

No, if you go to settings then click on reverse then there is a section in there for volume make sure that is all the way up, because when that is down your music will stop when you’re backing up

@@Forged_Garage Multi Terrain "Monitor", "select" is different. You do have the stock 360 cameras which means you should also have MTM. It is just a different set of cammer views when engaging into 4L. If you type in "4Runner multi-terrain monitor" into Google image search, the fourth or 5th image shows what it should look like normally when you are engaged in 4L

I’ve been using it for more than 3 months, almost being used daily, it’s been solid, also with the hot weather we are getting lately i have no issues driving on a 98F weather, the skinny vents still performs well.

Yes, you can change it on the settings too if you don’t want it to dim, but on mine it’s set to automatic.
