6.0 Powerstroke Water Separator Drain! You should probably be draining it more often

It's good to drain the water out of your HFCM frequently, how often is up to you but I have heard monthly, and I've heard every oil change. It's up to you how often you want to do it, but it's definitely recommended that you do it regularly.

They should have just put a drain cock on the water fuel separator.

Draining the filter and changing it on a 4x4 has got to be the biggest and messiest job I've ever had to do on any of the 20+ cars, truck, and boats that I've owned. And make sure that you have less than a half tank of fuel otherwise it will keep draining.

The extra length of the plug does fit. It just takes a little maneuvering.

Just did this and a good amount of stuff came out. I'd say probably like 4-5 cups of fluid. My bolt also had some rust on it. I will be repacking that soon. Thanks for the video man. I sub'd

I got my specific one on ebay, I don't remember the seller. But if you google 6.0 fuel drain plug you'll find a lot of different sellers for pretty much the same thing.

What is the purpose of that extension on the replacement plug that you cut off?

When you unscrew it it holds the plug in the drain hole. Without it, it just comes all the way out which is no big deal.

THAT ONES NO GOOD, LOOKS LIKE A CHINESE KNOCK OFF, YOU WANT THE ONE FROM FORD ITS BRASS, NO CORROSION, ALSO. CLEAN OUT THE RECTANGLE COVER, ITS FULL OF CRUD, TAKES UP SPACE AND WATER LIGHT WILL GO OFF ALL THE TIME FOR THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF WATER DUE TO NO SPACE FOR WATER

What I did is used a screw extractor and since you cant get a drill up in there I used a bit driver instead and used a pair of rounded vice grips on the end of the bit driver for leverage and I was able to break it free. Good luck
