Love rice bowl. Getting more popular in my country. You are very talented chef. I also just started doing cooking video for my channel, but the only Japanese recipe I shared so far is stir fry Udon. It is really hard to do Japanese dishes and I am afraid I am not able to nail the beauty. Any advise 😁

What wonderful dishes to teach my son~! I had a question for you; is there a reason you say bake instead of fry sometimes? (is it because lack of oil vs added oil?) Also, I really love that you had a recipe including natto, it's one of my favorite foods to eat. I hope you have a great day, thank you for the videos 🍳
@JapaneseCookingChannel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching!! There is no reason, and "fry" and "bake" are the same meaning for me😂 I'm sometimes confused with these words: fry, bake, saute, grill, etc. because in Japanese, there is only one word for these words. I'm still learning the difference😂 So, thank you for mentioning about that! Maybe I will use "fry" more often...(?) I have a question! What exactly is the difference between "fry" and "saute"? Do you use these differently, or is it free to use it any way?
@jasminesmith64522 жыл бұрын
@@JapaneseCookingChannel There really isn't much difference in frying and sauteing in my opinion (its mostly the type of pans). Baking is when something goes in an oven, and grilling is with the big rack outside that makes the lines scorched on. I hope you didn't think I was making fun of you; it was just something I noticed. I think your way of using them interchangeably is fine :) Please keep making excellent videos, we look forward to more of them!

@@JapaneseCookingChannel I know cooking pretty much everything is "yaki" in Japanese, so it can be really confusing in English because there are too many ways to say it! 😅 I can give you some examples and definition to try to explain! To fry something is to cook something in oil or another type of fat like lard or butter(you fry okonomiyaki, bacon, eggs, etc). Saute is very similar, it's kind of like a type of frying! But the difference is saute is a bit quicker, and usually a higher heat(you saute fajita meat, onions, etc). To bake something is to cook something with indirect heat, usually inside of an oven or something similar(you bake bread, cookies, pizza, etc). Grilling is specifically done using a grill, which is metal framework over an open fire(you grill yakitori, yakiniku, etc). I hope this helps! *edit* I also want to add that shallow and deep frying are also different ways of cooking that just regular frying. It just means you're using a different amount of oil. To fry something is to just cover the heating surface with a thin even layer of oil. Shallow frying is a little more oil, usually in a wok or shallow pan, and would fry things like tori nanban, tonkatsu, or other thin sliced meats. Deep frying is pretty much what it sounds like, you're going to fry something in a deep pot of oil, or in a deep fryer. I usually deep fry things like karaage, tempura, or anything that I want to be fully submerged in the oil.

@Pandoras Fun Box Wow! Thank you so much for explaining deeply! Yea, like you say, we only use "yaki" for fry, saute, bake, and so on. So, it's very confusing. Also, when I google it, I haven't got much satisfaction from there. Now I understand much better than before thanks to you! 😊 I will do my best to use these words in different situations👍 Thanks again!!
@JapaneseCookingChannel2 жыл бұрын
@Jasmine Smith Thank you for answering my question! Now, I understand more about these differences😊 And, thank you for your warm comment too! I didn't think you made fun of me😊 If you have any questions about my recipe or even my English, please let me know in the future too!! Actually, I still need to improve my English haha😂 So, I think questions raised by audience would help me a lot! Anyway, thank you again for watching my video and giving me your comment💕 I will try to make more good videos! Please take care and have a great weekend♪

I am now adding egg to my recipes and it is definitely tastier. 😁👍 Thank you so much for all your wonderful recipes. Can you please recommend a brand of Natto that is not too strong? I have never tried it and I am a bit scared to as it is new to me. I want to love it and am afraid I will not, and be disappointed as I want to love everything Japanese. There are many brands at my supermarket and i never know which one to chose... Do all Japanese' love Natto? or is it a love and hate type of food? I am from Canada 🇨🇦 so I am used to sweet and/or savoury beans such as maple flavoured beans with lard. Arigato Gozaimashita. 😁❤
@JapaneseCookingChannel Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm so glad you liked the egg recipe 😊 About the natto, I think there are quite a few Japanese who do not like natto. However, there are many people around me who basically like natto. About the natto brand, I don't think there is much difference in the taste of natto itself between different brands. However, there is a big difference in the sauce that comes with the natto. A sauce with a distinctive flavor may be easier for newcomers to eat than a regular soy sauce-based sauce. For example, there are plum flavors, shiso flavors, and some with egg flavors. Can you check the flavor of the sauce at stores? I hope you can find the better one for you 😊👍 Also, I love to eat natto with tamagoyaki (rolled egg/Japanese omelette). And, fried egg or raw egg (maybe it's not available in overseas) is the best combination with natto. It may be easier to eat for the first time if you eat it with egg dishes. Anyway, please try it a little at first :) Don't worry even if it's not your taste. haha By the way, I've never know beans with maple flavor. I wanna try that if I can visit Canada again someday 😍

What kind of sausage is that? I have seen it in many japanese cooking videos but I can't read the package. Is it pork or chicken or beef sausage? It looks yummy and I want to give it a try the next time I go to my local asian grocer!
@JapaneseCookingChannel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! The sausage is made from pork mainly... And, it contains several seasonings such as sugar and salt, and some spices too! We call it "Wiener" (Vienna sausage) somehow. I think it's unique to Japan and tastes different from sausages in other countries. It's so delicious, and I really want you to try! Please try to look for it at the store😊

What is natto?
@JapaneseCookingChannel2 жыл бұрын
Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from whole soybeans that have been fermented. It has very unique smell which some people don't like. But, once you eat it, it tastes really good! It's very common food that Japanese people like to eat it with rice!
